this is how i think about eq and the steps i take to get consistent results every time regardless of the instrument or vocal microphone in question

* Number one rule of eq: Only use it if you have to as the more you use the more you introduce phase issues ideally looking to resolve issues at the source (better mic position, different mic etc) this rule dosn't apply to the hpf which should be used liberally to cut everything just under the fundamental of a source. * Number two rule of EQ: always concider cutting first before deciding to boost if you apply 50/60hz boost to a kick will that mean you end up boosting the hf too much to compensate? * Number three rule of EQ: Use wide boosts, and narrow surgical cuts ( use gain and sweep to find offending frequencies for cuts) Bonus tip: take a cue/mon output on the mixer and plug it into a smaart channel on an audio interface with a ref mic so you can verify any individual channel by pressing the solo button. far more powerfull than using the onboard rta as this will give you a much more accurate idea of what the eq/comp/gate/whatever is doing in relation to the room with respect to phase, impulse and magnitude. You can then compare the individual channel trace to other traces (remembering ultimatly to use your ears to make the final decsion of course) this is one of the reasons why smaart is ace!

Thanks for video your videos are very helpful to me another question about to save project as scene for example I’ve worked and want to save my project the next day my colleague come he wants to creat new project could you please explain how to do this?

Is it the same for electronic music? I'm only feeding analog drumcomputers, synthesizers in my x32

Yes. Electronic sounds usually require less eq than sounds captured with a microphone but the rules are the same, remove what's ugly and boost what's beautiful

Just download the "Cherry Hill.scn" file and load it on your console and read the "READ ME.txt" file to know what tracks i used and download the multitracks from the link in that text file

Closed consonants in speech lie between 2 and 3k. Important for intelligibility.

It all depends on the individual person and the mic you're using. If there's not enough of if, then sure boost it a little bit why not. But in my own personal experience there is usually enough of it and sometimes even there's a bit too much. The point I'm trying to make is that with eq, there's no magic frequency that works in the same way for everybody. Different people have different voices, different microphones sound different, different speakers sound different, different rooms sound different...just use your ears and do what sounds good in the room. Don't just blindly follow "magic numbers" because somebody said that intelligibility is that specific frequency
