My issue is that you have to reference the Aux In page to be able to access your external FX. I would like to just be able to grab my channel or subgroup with the insert on it. My use case is routing a primary source enhancer on a vocal channel or group of vocal channels for economy of motion and then have it on an easily accessible handle. Thank you for this video! Very helpful.

You can assign the aux to a DCA that way it will be always in front of you

Good tutorial ! One little piece of advice, rather than unaffecting the aux channels to the stereo it is way safer to just unassign the actual input on the aux, they'll be no situations where you want to use them and if you use subgroups and you're auxes are routed to them you can still create feedback or phase issues, also I feel like its a more straightforward way to get rid of potential issues.

also you're loosing potential channels that you can use for extra inputs , like house music through the card or just extra channels if you're using a dl251

A great.. great .. great video ! It's so hepfull .. you can't imagine ! If it's technicaly possible, could you please make a video to explain how to use the software processing units as indépendant one to be use "outside" from the console ? Tricky insn't it ? Paulo
@danielkharrat
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
The inserts or fx units that come with the console can only be used inside the console. I mean sure you can put it on a channel or bus and send it out of an output on the back of the console but you're still gonna control it with the console because it's not an independent piece of software that you can "copy" from the console and install on your computer. It's very much integrated with the firmware of the console. So you're still gonna have to pass the signal through the mixer in order to use the fx units

Great video! I am working on a Behringer X32 producer. At the 10:26 mark of your video, there is a squiggly line that is highlighted above the Pre Ins and Post boxes, and I believe 2 icons to the left of the mute icon. What does that do? I am having a hard time getting the internal effects to work on a channel and when that Icon is lit, that channel never works. Thank you.
@danielkharrat
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
That squiggly line in the rectangular box is the eq and the one next to it in a square box is the compressor. If they are lit up it means they are active but they have nothing to do with the insert working or not. For the insert to be in the signal chain, the "ins" box should be on. And the internal effects you insert them from the effects page no the config page of the channel

If i understand, when you make an insert on a channel, your aux return "take the place" of your channel, In practise, you're using a DCA for have the channel on your finger ? Or other solution for not changing layer all the time ?
@danielkharrat
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
You can go to the channel next to it on the same layer, select that channel and in the config page assign the source to aux in 1 for example instead of local in So now that channel is receiving the physical input from the 1/4 jack instead of the xlr input

Hi david again, I don't really how it is possible to have feedback loop phenomena when you raised aux1 aux2 fader in relationg the stereo bus (if i said right) ? Paulo
@danielkharrat
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
Feedback doesn't only happen with microphones If the signal that is going out of the bus, somehow, gets back into that same bus and out again and in again and so on... That's called a feedback loop In case of the main LR it's going out of the Aux out and getting back into the Aux in And the auxes go into the main LR by default So the signal thats going out is coming back into the same bus over and over and getting amplified each time That's Feedback

This does help a bit however it doesn't address my situation. I am using the X32 connected to my PC via USB to Reaper. What I want to do is be able to use the hardware across my master buss in Reaper. I know ReaInsert is going to be needed. What I have been told is that the aux channels will NOT show up in Reaper. So I will need to run the hardware back into the channel (xlr) inputs so that Reaper can see the hardware. Also, I am unsure if the aux out will work to recieve signal from Reaper via ReaInsert...does that make sense now?
@danielkharrat
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
The aux channels do show up if you sacrifice the same number of normal channels because the sound card can only do 32 channels in total Go to the card page on the mixer and assign outputs 25-32 to aux in 1-6/TB and now 25-30 will be aux in 1-6 respectively in reaper And you can route you master buss to a pair of channels on the mixer And on the Aux out page assign 2 auxes to a direct out from these 2 channels that are receiving you mater buss You can record the resulting signal on a new track that has inputs 25-26 or 27-28 or 29-30 whichever aux you're using

@danielkharrat

Plug your mic into the preamp and plug the output of the preamp to the 1/4" aux input jack and you'll have that signal on the aux channel

Hi daniel ! An another question .. Logicaly if the insert selected as positionning as first in the path normally the signal flow thru after the compressor, eq, fader. Why you did you say it will be useless ? Thanks
@danielkharrat
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
You would be right if you're using an internal insert But remember the external insert is coming back into the aux not into the channel So if it's first in the signal chain it will leave the channel before passing through the eq and compression and since the insert comes back on the aux, that signal will never return to the channel to pass through the eq and compression But if the insert is at the end, the signal has already passed through the eq and compression and then it leaves the channel to go to the hardware

Hello my question not related with this topic so do you use radio mics and what frequences do you use?Commonly could you please share your experience. Thank you
@danielkharrat
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
I don't use radio mics myself so i cannot give you an exact answer but the most important thing you should keep in mind is interference. If a lot of people in the room are using mobile internet (4g and 5g) it's gonna cause problems so find a frequency that doesn't clash with the mobile internet
@hummhed
@hummhed Жыл бұрын
That's an unanswerable question. The frequencies you can use are entirely dependent on exactly WHERE you are, and how many RF transmitters are in play. the WHERE pertains to the frequencies of licensed commercial broadcasters in your area, how powerful their transmitters are, what frequency ranges are even legal to use at your location, and any unlicensed broadcasts that are happening. TO do this correctly you need to be able to do a scan of your RF environment, then use a software platform to calculate useable frequencies that don't interfere with each other. Shure Wireless Workbench is a great free application for this purpose. Watch one of the many tutorials on it's use.

Well..short answer yes you can But the usb card has a lot of latency so it's not really usable in a live environment because the delay is too big

Daniel for the channel insert, why do you remove the actual channel from the main mix and not the aux 1 ? This is so helpful but I can’t wrap my head around why this works this way
@danielkharrat
@danielkharrat 7 ай бұрын
Because you're sending the channel out to the hardware but you cannot receive the signal back on the same channel A channel can only have 1 input at a time So you receive the sound on a different channel which is the aux The aux is your channel with the insert on it If you keep the original channel in the mix you'll hear both the affected sound and the unaffected sound And this is likely to cause problems

So for the channel, say I have a rapper and want to add octave shift on the last word of a given phrase. Would I be able to keep the channel in the mains and take the aux out of the mains and use the aux fader to fade in the effect? Or would I have to put the effect on bus and keep the channel in the mains and fade in the effect via bus when i want it? I miss using an octave shift on Hiphop/Rap/R'n'B with my analog board and hitting the strobes and watching the audience seethe to me pushing a button and raising a fader. It made what would be a boring show into a fun night. I guess to extend this idea i want to know how i could do this with the built in octave shift. So far I have struggled with this and would love some advice. Your videos have been very insightful and I look forward to more content.
@danielkharrat
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
Yes you can keep the channel on the main LR and only raise the fader of the aux when you need to bring in the effect then turn it down again. But keep in mind, if the effect heavily changes the original signal to where it sounds completely different you can keep both the channel and the aux in the mix and they will not phase. But if the effect is only slightly modifying the signal and a big chunk of it is still similar to the original then that similar part will phase If you choose to use the built-in octaver effect then you can insert it on a bus and send the channel to that bus then just raise the fader of that bus whenever you need it
