This new singer you don't see in the radio or see him often on western television, but this artist's fanbase is bigger and more loyal than some of the most famous and international pop-stars. People will fight you online if you mispronounce his name, his fans will spend hours watching his videos, starting fan clubs all around the world, and leaving long comments on KZfaq with every song backstory. They are die-hard and well prepared. My question was necessary at this point. What has made these people so close to him, and what does he have that other artists don't? I first discovered Dimash because of his fans. He doesn't need paid advertisement because his fans of him will do it for free. They genuinely love this artist so much that they want to make him known at all costs. Some claim he has helped them overcome depression, others say that he has changed their lives with his music, some fans even believe him to be an angel or a superhuman. If you thought Michael Jackson's had some die-hard fans, Dimash's fans, which call themselves Dears, not too long after, a storm of Dimash fans started crowding my comment section with requests. I had never heard of this artist ever before, so it was interesting to discover someone new. As soon as I heard his voice from him, I was immediately impressed. No wonder his fans of him are obsessed, his voice of him is incredible, and at first sight, he also seemed like a pretty humble person. The 26 years old artist from Kazakhstan, first reached his stardom after participating in a few national competitions and spreading his fame abroad, placing second on the Chinese show - I Am A Singer 2017-. On this show, he was the youngest participant to compete against professional and already affirmed Chinese artists. One of the first songs I heard him sing, was the popular "S.O.S d'un terrien en détresse". A French song originally by Daniel Balavoine. I was immediately impressed by his incredible technique and delivery. His vocal training is formally classical, but he manages to sing pop songs extremely well. His choices of original songs and covers are never obvious, and always leave the listener in awe. What shocks me the most, is his use of the vocal fry technique. He manages to reach super low notes and jump to high ones with such perfection, and without ever failing. Above all, the most impressive characteristic of his voice is the use of the "whistle". I've never quite heard a man using this technique before Dimash. Sorry Mariah, but his whistles are incredible. You only need to listen to his songs for him, because it's impossible to explain such a talent with words. His vocal range is incredible. His extension is 6 octaves and 5 semitones, goes from a low A1 to an incredible D8. Considering that, the highest note male record is an F # 8 and Dimash is only 3 semitones away from it, I wonder if one day, he might try to beat the record. It would be so interesting to watch that! One other thing that caught my attention, was always impeccable perfect pitch. He is probably the only singer never to be flat or sharp in any note, and that's why many people gave him the nickname "Alien". But impeccable technique and interpretation are not the only good qualities of Dimash. We learned about his humanity from him on the World's Best show-, the reality tv competition, where he competed in 2019. After a few episodes, when Dimash discovered he had to compete against children, he decided to quit. He explained to the crowd that he was unaware of any competition against children when he signed the contract and, this action would have been against his morals. Incredibly this explanation, was not included in the aired episode, which left us puzzled after hearing RuPaul, or should I call him "Rude Paul's" outburst. Dimash's renounce was, in my opinion, a selfless and humble act. It takes a great man to give up his dreams to keep his integrity, and this is what we saw in this amazing artist. The American show, increased the popularity of the Kazakh singer overseas, so much that one of his songs, in the Kazakh language, debuted on MTV USA in October 2020. The love for his country and his honesty are always noticeable in all his his performances. Every one of his concerts always includes cultural aspects tied to his country, as the use of particular instruments to accompany him or traditional clothes and singing styles. I think the choice to sing in his native language was not at all casual. I believe that one of his goals is to increase his country popularity and recognition. After gathering my thoughts, I realized that I was right about my assumptions. His latest post on Instagram just mentioned: It is necessary to understand that I have become who I am now, primarily thanks to Kazakhstan. Because I grew up in Kazakhstan, until Kazakh dishes, studied from Kazakh vocal educator, I was raised in a Kazakh family. And the main stimulus that drives me is my nation and my country! I think, after all, we've now answered my previous question. What made this artist so close to his fans? And what does he have that others don't? An incredible voice is not enough nowadays. Social media has brought artists closer to their audiences, which want to make sure that who they are following is also someone that they can report to. Artists like Dimash tend to gain millions of followers around the world, not only for their talent, which is definitely the main reason but also for their humbleness and the way they interact with others. When people feel closer to an artist, they tend to want to know more about him. Dimash is talented enough, mysterious enough, and at the same time so down to Earth that he could easily be your next-door neighbor. In a world where often talent and simplicity don't go hand in hand, Dimash is a real crowd-pleaser. Because of these reasons, I've become a fan of the artist myself, not only admiring his craft and technique of him but also applauding the way he's handling his success. Thanks from Portugal

If every American, Canadian, Australian and western European Dimash fan would join nextdoor.com and post a comment praising Dimash's attributes along with links to his most popular songs we could get him well known in the western world in no time at all. When I titled my nextdoor comment "Introduction to the world's best singer' and links to eight of his performances I received back countless enthusiastic responses thanking me for the introduction and assuring me that they were new fans and would be telling others. Nextdoor claims to be in 1 of 4 homes in the US and has great potential for vastly expanding Dimash's fan base. Plus I now have a whole lot of neighbors to talk to about Dimash's performances as before I had only you youtube reactors!

Thank you, this is so beautiful and it is in his home studio. He did a live performance of this a little while before this one too. Both are stunning! It is a story about a young man who is pulled from his home and elderly parents to go to war. He is trudging along and he is weary and he is wondering if he is ever going to see his homeland and his parents again. He is wondering what being a soldier will bring him.

English translation : My dearest motherland with its immense lake Shalkar. I wonder what my days will be like when I become a solder Thoughts of you arise over and over in my mind My precious land where I was born and came of age I’m not riding, but walking slowly Not even walking, but dragging myself I have been struggling for 15 days I am approaching Omsk I’m twice a dozen years old (2 mushel *) And was born in the Year of the Ox / Cow (**1889) Forced by the will of fate to travel to distant land Samal mountain, my precious motherland I have left you behind We are like a lost herd of horses gone astray I have both my father and my mother They are of advanced age What drove me to sing this sing is, The mourning and heartache of the year 1916… Samal mountain, my dearest motherland With its immense lake Shalkar, I wonder what my days will be like when I become a solder

The song is connected with the events of 1916. On June 25, 1916, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia issued a decree "On requisition", which provided for the recruitment of 400 thousand people aged 19-43 from the "whirlwind peoples" of Kazakhstan, Central Asia and Siberia. The song depicts the state of a young man who was walking away with a gunshot and violence.

@@zhandosakhmetov4132 Starving and displaced, many Kazaks joined in the general Central Asian resistance to conscription into the Russian imperial army, which the tsar ordered in July 1916 as part of the effort against Germany in World War I. In late 1916, Russian forces brutally suppressed the widespread armed resistance to the taking of land and conscription of Central Asians. Thousands of Kazaks were killed, and thousands of others fled to China and Mongolia.

SAMALTAU TOKYO JAZZ FESTIVAL Dimash was invited to go to Japan and perform at this years Tokyo Jazz Festival but due to the pandemic it was first cancelled (and he was very disappointed) then it was done as an online concert on Dimash's 26th birthday on May 24th 2020. So he took part by performing 2 songs, Samaltau and S.O.S which he live streamed from his home in Astana Kazakhstan, and he chatted to the presenters and joked with them between songs, this is his music room/studio in his house. The instruments are a Kobyz, the stringed instrument a bit like a viola, it has two strings of horse hair and has a 5,000 year history, its played here emulating the sounds of the Kazakh steppe, the wolves, cattle, Cranes flying south and other wild animals. The flute is called a Sybyzgy and is emulating the Kazach Golden Eagle and other birds, the rainstick (bamboo filled with gravel or rice) is emulating the wind in the grass of the steppe, plus the water running off from the Samal mountain. The instruments on the wall are Dimash's collection of various Dombra, plus a shaman drum and a jetigen, a Kazakh zither, all gifts from Dears. I absolutely love this song, I first heard it at the Silk Road Film Festival last year and it stunned me. Here he is performing this powerful song sitting cross legged on a piano stool, he always makes it look so easy when in reality this is a difficult song to sing this well. Bravo Dimash After this performance he did a Q&A for the afternoon, then after a couple of hours break he came back and spent another couple of hours with us Dears chatting and answering our questions again. So he spent his entire 26th birthday with his Dears, he loves us as much as we love him and that's a LOT of love 🌺🌹🌺🌹🌺 Here is the full story of what this terribly sad song is about. Dimash sings from the perspective of a 28 year old soldier who is thinking of his aging parents, his home country and the sacred mountain Samal Tau^ www.iias.asia/the-newsletter/ajíjticle/time-ordeal-story-1916-revolt-central-asia The camera was most likely Dimash's Dad Kanat as this was at their home

👉Because of the pandemic, the annual Tokyo Jazz Festival took place online. Dimash sings 2 songs, “SOS” and “Samaltau”, live in his home studio. His first performance 2019 at the closing ceremony of the Silk Road International Film Festival: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7SboqmUksi1j6c.html (you should watch it) For Dimash this song 'Samaltau' has a special spiritual meaning. He prepared for the performance with a special responsibility. This song, very well known in Kazakhstan, is sung about the hard mass of people, about their suffering. It was written when the Tsar forcibly recruited the young men from Kazakhstan during World War I. They marched endless distances. Many did not understand what to do in a foreign country. Their fields withered and their wives, children and elderly parents were left alone. The Tsar, then the Soviets, attacked the country and harassed, recruited and decimated the population. In 1934, after a great famine, 2 million Kazakhs had survived. Today 18 million people live in the Republic of Kazakhstan, 70% of them Kazakhs, 19% Russians and other ethnic groups. Fan Club USA has a background story video: www.youtube.com/watch?V=GVcs7wkfyC4 Tragedy of the Kazakh people: "Samal tau 1916" - HasSak folk band (True Saka) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gbOAmrWEnrW2Zn0.html 🌼🇩🇪 👉 Samaltau (names a beautiful place. In Kazakhstan, many women's names have 'samal' as the first syllable) Mountain breeze Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier, You keep coming into my mind from time to time, My amazing homeland, where I was born and raised I wasn't riding, I was walking, Even slower than walking, Been strolling for 15 days In the direction of Omsk I'm at the age of two cycles, the year of the cow By the will of Fate, I went farther away Mountain breeze, my amazing country, you're left behind From the hollow field, we are the only ones I had parents, Of progressed age, Since this song was written, It's been 16 years. Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier 🌼🇩🇪

I read that this performance was filmed at his home studio in June during the early months of the pandemic for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. Notice Dimash is sitting cross legged wearing socks. I think it must be customary to not wear shoes inside the house. There is a YT clip showing Dimash and Erlan Bechurin, his musical arranger and good friend, without shoes (wearing socks) at what might be Igor Krutoy’s house. This was when they were fine tuning the song Your Love in March before the pandemic caused lockdowns.

It's a very tragic song. About the longing of a kazakh man for his hometown. Many Kazakh men were forced out of their homes to fight for the soviet union in WW1. The echo you hear really represents the scenery of the song. Dimash said this was a hard song for him to prepare for, not because of the vocals but because of the emotion it carries. Dimash is quite patriotic. It's not his own song, more like a folk song. The writer is even unknown (which makes it even more tragic in my opinion, could it be the soldier in the song?) For a good background and translation of this song, Dimash's US FC made a great video, here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbyTppqo0Mzdc2g.html&t . You should really check it out, not for a reaction, but just to get a gist of the story of the song.

Samaltau (Breezy Mountain) Lyrics My dearest motherland with its immense lake Shalkar. I wonder what my days will be like when I become a solder Thoughts of you arise over and over in my mind My precious land where I was born and came of age I’m not riding, but walking slowly Not even walking, but dragging myself I have been struggling for 15 days I am approaching Omsk I’m twice a dozen years old (2 mushel *) And was born in the Year of the Ox / Cow (**1889) Forced by the will of fate to travel to distant land Samal mountain, my precious motherland I have left you behind We are like a lost herd of horses gone astray I have both my father and my mother They are of advanced age What drove me to sing this sing is, The mourning and heartache of the year 1916… Samal mountain, my dearest motherland With its immense lake Shalkar, I wonder what my days will be like when I become a solder Kazakhs, like many peoples of Asia, used the eastern calendar, where every 12 years they made 1 cycle (mushel). The hero of the song was 2 mushel, that is, he has already overcome the age of 24. Year of the cow is 1889 Source: Facebook Dimash fanpage: Dimash Kudaibergen International Fan Club

My heart is full of sorrow. It rains from the tears of our ancestors. Our people survived 2 Holodomors, it was not officially recognized, but it was a crime against our nation, genocide. R.I.P. my kazakh ancestors who gave their lives for our language.

Happy New Year, dear Danielle!!! Thank you for this reaction. SAMAL TAU is one of my favourits by Dimash, because it is different. Very meditative and spherical, he almost seems to chant at some points. Nevertheless, his other performences give me the whole experience package as well ❤😁😭🚀😱😍🤗🥺🤯💥💔. Lots of love from Switzerland🇨🇭 PS: I love your cute Grogu cellphone button - this is the way 😁✌🏻.

BRAZIL - DANIELLE, great reaction. SAMAL TAU is a beautiful Kazakh folk song, author unknown, but based on real events, when Tsar Nicholas commanded Russia and Kazakh men were forced to fight for Russia in the 1st world war. Would it have been a soldier who tells his sad story of leaving Kazakhstan's homeland, his family, elderly parents who were going to die and he himself knew he wouldn't come back ?? Dimash tells a part of the suffering of his Russian-dominated ancestors and freedom came on December 16, 1991. This is what Samal Tau reports about. The instrument that looks like a mini violin is the KOBYZ, LINDO SOM, the flute is SYBYZGY and the famous and known by many as PAU DE CHUVA. Wonderful Kazakh musical instruments magnify SAMAL TAU music. Done at Dimash's home studio on his birthday 24.05.1994 for TOKYO JAZZ FESTIVAL, to which Dimash was invited, but due to the pandemic it was online, via streaming.

Excellent execution as always! And for a complete understanding, you need to know what this song is about. This song is about a young guy who goes to war, leaving his elderly parents alone. And this guy does not know whether he will return home alive, whether he will see his parents again ... - That is why there is so much crying in Dimash's voice !!!

Always nice to see you Danielle. I love this particular rendition of samal tau, made in Dimash's personal studio during lock down. He was expected to perform in Tokio but couldn't because of restrictions. I'm fascinated not only with Dimash's vocals but the arrangement, almost tribal. You're really fun to watch, I hope you hit 100k soon. #subscriptionsquad

I just loved your reaction to this song, which is one of my absolute favorites. Any time Dimash sings a song which honors his homeland, that love of country and emotional attachment to it shines through so brightly. So very glad you are back to share your love of Dimash with us, plus more Pentatonix too I hope! Just realized you have not done Pentatonix yet. You should! Especially with your background, their performances should be right up your alley and they draw tons of fans and subs, just like Dimash does. Start with Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Hallelujah or Sound of Silence.

Translation of the song. Samal tau, my native land, immense sea What days wait for me in the soldiers Remember Again and Again Native land where he was born and raised Not riding me, walking Even slower than walking For fifteen days of the campaign Approaching Omsk I am at the age of two cycles, the year of the cow By will of fate went to the far edge Samal tau, native lands left behind We are like a joint of horses torn from our native lands My mother and father, They're old people... This song was folded Misfortunes of the 16th year Samal tau, my native land, immense sea What days wait for me in the soldiers
