Learn how to take the golf club away in the backswing. The first move in the backswing we call the golf swing takeaway. For many golfers learning to get a great backswing takeaway feeling can transform the overall look and simplicity of your golf swing.
Learning how to take the club online on the backswing can prevent unnecessary compensations (faults) such as over the top and the opening and closing of the club face.
In this weeks golf lesson you will learn how to develop the feel necessary to do it every time with your driver swing and your iron swing.
If you like the video give it a thumbs up , maybe share it with a friend and if you want to see more like this you can subscribe to the channel for FREE below:

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumbleI’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Oh my God - I have been struggling with my game for, probably, 12 months. I have lost all consistency and, therefore, confidence. I have tweeked so many things in an effort to recover my swing and game that I have lost any semblance of my normal swing. Danny’s tips have helped BUT this video has just given me the best round of golf I have played in 1 year. I took a video of my swing after watching this from Danny and, sure enough, I was breaking my wrists at the start of the takeaway. I practiced Danny’s takeaway tips yesterday in my net here at home and today I hit 12 greens in regulation and 9 fairways from the tee. Danny, your a flipping marvel and a very generous individual to give up such time to us. I owe you big time. Do you like wine (as in French proper wine ;-) ) THANK YOIU DANNY MAUDE

Danny Maude is an excellent instructor. I think this is one his best videos because it addresses, in such a simple manner, how to improve your driver takeaway. I still have problems with other parts of my game but my drives are more consistent and straight. This gives me a chance to make pars but usually a bogey and a double at max - because my drive has positioned me so well. And playing is much more fun. I watch this video once a month to reinforce the key messages. This guy knows what he is doing. Thanks Danny.

Undisputed best Golf teacher in the world. Of course that is my opinion but he makes everything as simple as possible, with great explanations. Danny Maude has fixed more of my swings flaws (most I didn't know I had), than I can count. At this rate, I'll be on the senior tour! Thanks Danny. Used this tip yesterday and others commented on the extra distance...from a 76 year old. Arms right to side at start of backswing and rotating head backwards made for a more fluid, stress free and powerful downswing. I think I will keep using this approach, as well as many others Danny outlines. I also found I had less pain in my back afterwards and today.

I’ve always managed the first part of the takeaway correctly but then suffered from a too vertical swing plane. The penny has finally dropped by reminding me I should throw the palm of the right hand up - this improves the swing plane and stops me coming over the top in my downswing - sorted👍

Another great tip Danny! I've been subscribed to your channel for a couple of years now and my handicap is down to 8 - from 13! You have always made the golf swing look so simple and easy. The one thing that you mentioned in one of your videos that has helped me more than anything else was you reminded us to "play the game ". That simple reminder literally changed everything for me. I've enjoyed golf more in the last year than ever before. And I've been playing golf since 1972! So thank you for that! I always eagerly look forward to your next video! Thanks for all you do Danny.

Major kudos and thank you for this lesson! Making sure I'm taking the club away parallel to my feet and the target-line, as well as making sure the club face is at a 45° angle, has made an ENORMOUS difference in my ball striking, both my driver AND irons. After watching this video, I noticed Justin Thomas does this on all his practice swings. This is such a key concept.

I revisited a few of your videos on the proper takeaway. I had taken an in-person lesson to help correct some club face issues. The feel at the top was consuming most of my attention. However, what I began to do was break my lever very early, creating issues coming back to the ball. My range practice yesterday, really focused on the one-piece take away. Doing so allowed me to get into the position at the top much easier. Really appreciate your teaching technique. Randy Derheim, Sioux Falls South Dakota, USA

I've only watched a few of your videos Danny but been a subscriber for a while. Just watching you for minutes I can tell straight away this is a channel you will learn so much from in such a short time. I would advise anyone who is learning golf off KZfaq just follow this channel for tips. To much for few different people can put you off track. Danny keep it so simple! My driver is so bad at the moment i play off 6 my last 12 rounds 10 of them have been in the 70's so I can't wait to get that sorted and give myself closer shots into the greens. My driver is literally now a weak draw that falls out the sky quick I've lost about 40 yards 🙈 proper toeing everything but its in play. Playing again tomorrow and I will be trying some tips from this video. Last tip I picked up off you was the right hand down to the knee to get the tilt correct. Worked a treat my friend

I'm coming back to the game after a hip replacement a couple of years ago. A former low handicapper, once I picked up my clubs again a few months ago, I found that I couldn't swing how I used to and have been forced to return to fundamentals. With a lot of work, I finally got a groove in my swing back, but I felt as if I was getting screwy at the top of my swing and didn't know how to fix it. Then I saw this video, started learning the feel of a solid takeaway, and now everything is starting to fall into place! I still have lots more work to do (I have a tendency to come over the top) but I wanted to take the time to thank you for this lesson! It has really helped me groove my swing!

Nicely explained Danny. It’s too easy to get into the habit of letting the mass control you rather than the other way round as you rightly say. Definitely one for the practice ground this afternoon. It would certainly be great to get back into control of the swing. It slips away so easily if you don’t keep an eye on these points and you end up frustrated in no man’s land! Many thanks - as ever.

Took this tip to the driving range one day prior to league play and was immediately rewarded with solid and consistent ball striking. I was a little nervous but optimistic on the first tee in league play and unloaded a 225 drive down the middle(I'm 71 years young). If I could have putted decently(35 putts) I would have had a career outing. The new takeaway worked on everything in my bag from driver to a 70 yard wedge. Accuracy improved dramatically. I found myself on in regulation most of the day. After a disaster on number 15 I parred 16,17 and 18 to end the day. Not bad. Thanks Danny for this game changing tip.

Many thanks this lesson, made a major diff to me ball strike, who would have thought the problem came from the way you take the club away, Brill Dave.

Danny, I just stumbled upon your vids. I've been away from the game for several years and what I've seen from your instruction is outstanding. I really grasp your visuals and I know with some range work I'll be able to put them to practical use. I've never looked forward to the range until now. Thanks!

I watch your videos daily to try to get consistency in my approach to the swing. I'm THAT guy who sprays it all over and never sure where it is going... especially off the tee. Thank you for what you do here for all of us golfers trying to improve. I was typically a mid 90s player and now am consistently in the mid to upper 80s... next goal is lower 80s and better consistency. Thanks for what you do for us.

I play every week with a group of guys appropriately named Pete and the pirates . They are better than me which has contributed to a little lightening of my wallet but actually has made me a better player especially with my short game. I have been training with your drills diligently and am getting better -- longer and more consistent. Pete came up to me after our last round on the side and said "Martin whatever you are practicing keep it up". I told him that really hurt you to say that didn't it and he replied "yup". Danny --- Thanks for your very logical and easily understood lessons they are working for me.

Danny, I’ve been following you for about a year now. There is a lot of content out there but you are an excellent instructor and in my opinion the best out there. I’ve also been working on this ‘one piece takeaway’ , it’s easier said than done but this video along with some of your previous videos helps to consolidate this. When I get it right my ball striking is so much better. Thank you.

I will try this out this week, I not often visit a driving range (to hot for that) but play 3 rounds of golf a week. It looks so easy when you doing it but I'm sure it isn't that easy for me 😉 A big thank from a Dutchman in Thailand.

I haven't tried this on the range yet, but I have a feeling this will help greatly. I know my takeaway is not ideal. My own daughter (who is a much better golfer than I) tell me all the time - Dad you are taking it back way too inside!.... Even before trying this out, I have been practicing the small motions of just taking the trail arm back and having my palm pointed 45* down. Then taking it to the top with the palm up. It seems like these two feelings are very natural for some reason. Like there is no effort in it! Like the arm and hand want to be in these positions! I can't wait to go out today and practice this with irons first then driver. Danny, I have to say over the past few months I have subscribed to your channel and I love your teaching style. Not only for the content, but for your passion. It really, genuinely comes across in these videos. Thanks again!

Hi Danny, for me you are definitely the most understandable coach on YT. I just watched an old one you did with Peter Finch that you did which i'd missed about mindgames, can you refresh that as I think it was brilliant and very thought provoking. great content, clearly explained.
