@@123duelist GothamChess definitely knows what he's talking about as well, and I love a ton of his videos. His instructions with TierZoo are great. I just don't happen to like his approach to the "speedrun" format where he shows every opening once to go through all of them. A lot of the openings are challenging and not fitting beginners like me trying to replicate, so him creating *breadth* and showing the range of opens stands in contrast to what a beginner looking to climb at the ratings he's at would probably succeed at. He can always improvise when the opening goes astray, but it leads beginners into very bad situations if they make a misstep. And then it gives an air of "I've already done the Italian Game 3 months ago I'm not showing that again" and like... yeah, but literally 1 or 2 moves after the Italian Game is built it can be completely different! I'd like to see it. Compared with Daniel, who consistently is doing e4 or d4, showing that the same exact openings can create different contexts 3 or 4 moves later, creating *depth* and showing the toolkit a beginner needs to actually *make* the climb. Almost every time he has the opportunity to do a GM move, he verbalizes that and adheres to principles that we've all been developing, or he clearly states why he's breaking a principle. Again, both are great people, I just happen to enjoy Daniel's stuff much, much more.

That's a really low move. I mean...sure, you're allowed to, but if you're going out for food, at least ask your opponent if he wants you to get him something. You know you've lost, HE knows you've lost, you both know you're deliberately wasting his time, so the only way to mess with his head, is to be nice about it. That will mess with his head a lot more than just being a penarse.

Hey Daniel, I was a casual player and although I had gone through most of the chess.com lessons I still played at around an 800 level, after watching this series it has really shown me what's important to look for and prioritise in a game from beginning to end. Something that simply studying concepts or doing puzzles can't teach, I have been doing much better online and recently beat a 1600 player as White. You've objectively doubled my skill! This series is one of the best recources for beginners online and I will be reccomending it to anyone who gets into chess for a long time

Hi Danya and again, thanks for this excellent series. I am rated about 1700 on Lichess & Chess.com and yet I'm still learning a lot from your 1000~1300 videos - specifically your timing of pawn breaks. I feel like one of my greatest issues is that I am too timid with my pawns. It's relatively easy for me to get good positions through manoeuvring, but I often let the advantage slip by virtue of not knowing and/or feeling confident about when to break. Watching your previous two videos on playing the aggressive d5 in the Sicilian to punish Bc4 already helped me beat two similarly rated opponents yesterday. I cannot recall the last time a video improved my play by so much.

I originally avoided this series because I thought it'd just be an ego trip "mash through games quickly, haha I'm so much better than these players". But man, I almost missed out, this is one of the best educational chess series I've ever seen. It's not really a speedrun at all since you're not trying to gain mmr fast, but learning from games against players all across the ladder is INCREDIBLY helpful. The one or two games per video with 80% of the runtime per video being analysis is so powerful as well for my learning, thank you so much for doing this, I cannot understate how awesome this is.
@ahhhgoolagoon Жыл бұрын
A part of me is ashamed that this video (and majority of the videos in this series) hover around 120,000 views (at time of writing) while GothamChess's videos regularly amass nearly 1,000,000 views; Today's GothamChess video, for instance, has already reached the same number of views that this video has reached (again at time of writing). Another part of me is selfishly pleased that this series has relatively low views because it increases my chances of climbing the ELO ladder, because prospective opponents have likely not absorbed the herculean amount of knowledge this series provides. That said, ultimately, I wish this would get more views, because it's so well deserved.

Thank you GM Naroditsky, your videos are awesome. You makes chess look easy. Just too bad when your opponents let the time run out or resign early. It is also very instructive to see how you convert a totally winning position on to a win. I loose too many blitz games from totally winning positions.
@antongolubenko96183 жыл бұрын
Danya, you are a great great teacher! I haven't been playing for a few years since my highest blitz rating was ~1600 on chess.com, and then I gave it a shot again but I was super slow with my rating dropping to 1350 playing botez gambit occasionally, but then guess what? I watch all of your speedrun videos over the course of a couple of days and now after having a beer I log in to play a blitz game. I'm just developing my pieces naturally, looking for tactics, no rush, keeping it calm and I easily win a game with 98% accuracy! Holy smokes! Your videos are gold and I just genuinely enjoy listening to you explanations. Please keep them coming! All the best.
