When he said that he got a call that Kurt was dead and then a half hour later “no he’s okay” I couldn’t help but wonder, how many of these calls did he get?

I think he should have stayed on topic on Kurt’s close calls and asked him how many times. It paints an ugly picture of the scene around him but, it’s the only way people can understand it.

there were a few calls. I believe the only one before a concert was the new york one. kurt overdosed after SNL. the Rome incident comes to mind. what I hate, and really hate....is the "st. Kurt" attitude. Like the guy was perfection. he wasn't. he had many faults. He was a slob. He had a temper, and bore grudges. He was also immensely talented, loyal, and very funny. but perfection? no. He was a man. and as 30 years has rolled by, people have begun to forget that he was a son, brother, bandmate, friend. people are putting Kurt on that pedestal, and he doesn't sit there well. remember what Krist said about Kurt. that he was kind, generous and sweet. also that he believed "in the punk rock way of thinking. No band is special, no player royalty." I think he included NIRVANA and himself in that.

Totally, I assume he'd be as critical of the deification now as he was then.

What bothers me is the thought that they could have saved him. Instead of addressing the problem at hand, they pushed him back on stage to perform for them. Who was that for? Kurt? Courtney? Or the fat cats in the industry who saw this guy as a cash cow?
