Most Metallica fans say MOP is their favorite album, mine is AJFA. I love the riffs, the drumming, the arrangements and just the entire vibe of the album. It's ironic because I play bass and well... you know.

AJFA has my favorite songs that Metallica has written, easily their most complex, but I can’t call it my favorite album because of how ass the album sounds, no bass, shitty dry drums, fairly dry vocals and guitars, I hope the original stems are still around somewhere so the thing could be properly remixed someday

You can remove those sounds and with stem separation software if you listen to cliffs bass isolated on mop you can hear some picking in spots but noise also of fretting the strings on the fretboard it's common for recordings but you need to know how to move arrange everything in the correct spot but for you cliff button fans who are into what ifs with cliff and and justice for all you could take samples of cliffs bass adjust them to replace Jason's bass tone but I can tell you right now you could fix Jason's bass without replacing it but you nerd a good ear. But I prefer cliffs counterpoint to James guitar period.

You have someone who crushes it on the bass guitar, willing to do or play anything you tell him to (at that point), and instead of utilizing that Lars decides to delete him out of the mix completely? I'll never understand that. And yet, Jason has the composure to never even talk shit about it. Guy was a class act and they were lucky to have him

I feel that album should be remixed and sold today just like you would do any remaster or live album or whatever else you do besides the original works. But Jason should get all the money from the sales. Look, we as fans will always love Jason. A lot of us didn’t even get the chance to see Cliff perform. Love his work but he died and the band played on. With Jason. 😉😘😘🤘🤘💯🔥

These AI tools aren't perfect my dude. If you load a song with no bass guitar into it and tell it to get rid of the bass, it's going to remove SOMETHING (probably mostly low end from the guitars) and the result will sound different, sure, but that doesn't mean that the bass guitar was audible in the mix to begin with.
@Duarki
@Duarki Ай бұрын
@@Christopher-md7tf AI? no, it’s not AI. it’s a basic htz metre, low end of a guitar can not possibly make the htz a bass does, it hears it, and can then distinguish the individual instrument stims. not AI. freaking gen z.
@Christopher-md7tf
@Christopher-md7tf Ай бұрын
@@Duarki "basic htz metre" lmao these tools work with deep learning and they're anything but "basic", otherwise they would've been around a lot longer than they have (also it's hz, with no t) . A bass guitar's frequency range is from about 40 to 400hz and the one of an electric guitar from about 80 to 5k, so there is A LOT of overlap there.
@Duarki
@Duarki Ай бұрын
@@Christopher-md7tf wtf r u talking about u knob, I’m not talking about AI. I’m talking about the frequencies that are on the album, that a 1960’s engineers board can pick up. u can literally KZfaq clips of the ajfa producer sitting at his mixing desk isolating the bass track from the released mix. but you’re still talking about AI. a basic channel on a mixing desk can tell the difference between the bass guitar and the guitar. especially when they r playing virtually the same riff, but the notes r coming through at greatly different hertz. u speak like AI is needed to hear the difference between an open E on a bass oppose to a guitar, when the human ear can pick it, but have doubts if the basic computers they were using in the 1980’s could do it. and then double down on that insanity by saying someone can hear it themselves.

It’s the late 80s. James and Lars are in their late 20s, full Alpha Males, dealing with the dichotomy of the rising star of the Metallica brand while also dealing with the loss of a brother. Dealing with the loss with no effective coping mechanisms at the time. Fans don’t know or understand what it’s like to be in the business of music either. Sometimes a whirlwind of circumstances create odd outcomes. The lack of bass on AJFA will never be solved because the answer is convoluted. And an official remix/remaster is just never going to happen.

Very dry sounding snare, the snare sound on the concert tours for the album was a lot better (even on the bootlegs). The toms sounded great, I was never mad on the clicky bass drum sound which kind of became standard for Metal kick sounds after AJFA. I remember playing an Anthrax song on my own set with my tuning and the bass drum sounded weird, nothing like the album sound (my kick's more tuned to Rock, a big sound over a tight click). I call it the typewriter bass drum sound.

The online hate is a trend people follow. I can understand if somebody doesn't like a song, that's normal that not everyone has the same taste, but it goes well beyond that. But I'm talking about how people just repeat the same 5 weird things over and over and claim to know all these 'facts' about the band as if they were there and witnessed all these things. The hate on Lars technical ability as a drummer is one example. Mostly it's this boring rant about who the 'best' drummer is, or that he is a horrible drummer altogether, but when you listen to people who know what the hell they're talking about, like producers, sound engineers, other musicians, etc., they all talk about how great of a drummer he is. I think it's because Lars has this kind of strange personality and way of speaking that comes off as narcisistic or whatever, which I get, but 95% of the time it's just this boring, regurgitated echo chamber for no good reason. The list goes on and on. Mustaine wrote the 1st 4 albums, Kirk and his Wah pedal, James... 🤔ok everybody loves James. 😁
