His playing is miraculous. It's like hearing music and seeing a painting at the same time.

The "Campanella" is very interesting, never heard anything like it. Amazing phrasing, no rushing, very impressive. It seems he does not care about the difficult technical side, just music, the sign of a great master.

It feels as if my father is singing me bedtime lullabies when I was a child. what precious memories... He is now 92, blind and bedridden, but this beautiful music reminds me how much I love him... Thank you.

Hearing him for the first time today! Amazing!! How has he kept under the radar??! I am familiar with his piano teacher, Prof. Zelikman of Gnessin School, from Gould's 'Russian Journey'.

He has not been kept "under the Radar". He is now world famous. Try and buy a ticket to his concerts when they go on sale to the public - whether in Europe, Asia, New York or any major city. They are immediately sold out!

There are times when Liszt arrangements of both Schubert as well as Schumann aught to have been left alone. Perhaps having sung these pieces, I am a purist. I will forgive the various occasional very minor faux pas, (plural) starting first at approximately 40 seconds into this with Die Forelle. Reasons for this, is because I LOVE this pianist's sense of passion and artistry. This may not make sense to some, but in some ways I can compare him as pianist, to soprano Maria Callas. I wonder if anyone who may read this, may understand what I mean. Matters not. I just love and appreciate vinograd1612 for the posts and for sharing all we may see and hear. mmmmmwhaaaa!

I wish Trifonov had played Liszt's magnificent arrangement of Die Forelle as it is, not with extra tinkly treble notes, too. But his playing is so sensitive, and always "mit Innigkeit." A marvelous musician. And I love Liszt's transcriptions in general--he is always so faithful to the original works, unlike many of the later pianist-composers.
