I always got the impression Catherine was sort of coerced into joining the CIA. Like maybe they helped her when she was helping her friend in the middle east, and she had to repay the debt. Her conversation on the phone after leaving Steve felt like an attempt to setup a future explanation.

Had Danny asked Catherine if it was worth it to break Steve's heart when she lied about where she was going sometime after Kono and Adam got married, would Catherine answer that question or not? Catherine didn't think about what Steve and his sister Mary had been through since they thought their mother was killed when they were kids.

Steve would be so caught in the middle if he saw Catherine & Lynn fighting over him. He would be very upset to see that happen with his own eyes. Thank goodness it didn't happen.

Vincent A. It doesn’t sound like we watched the same show. Catherine is much more beautiful than Lynn. Steve and Cath have so much more chemistry than with Lynn. Lynn is only in about 3 episodes. Catherine is in so many episodes that are really romantic. They tried a lot of different women to be with Steve, but everyone thought that no one else had as much chemistry as Steve and Cath. She was in at least one episode every season, including 10 at the end, where they end up together.

If Steve had said to Catherine that he's wants to marry her and had shown him the engagement ring before she would lie to him about why she's leaving Hawaii, she would've said yes and maybe Joe White would give Catherine away if her own father couldn't attend, and Danny Williams would be the best man at the wedding.

Had Lynn yelled at Catherine for walking out on Steve, would that make Catherine go mad and attack Lynn for being so bold? If Steve hadn't gone to get his mother out of trouble. would Mary not forgive him for not helping her despite her abandoning her kids for a job out of the country?

Every one keeps talking about how Catherine hurt Steve, what about the way he treated her. He wouldn't call her his girlfriend, he always said they had a thing. He never said he loved her until she was gone She said she would marry him but he still wouldn't propose. He only called when he needed a favor. How many times did he leave her to go hold Danny's hand. Maybe she just got tired of waiting to be loved back.

I realised after seeing season 4 a few times that to be honest they didn't go anywhere with Catherine. She basically showed up in a few scenes here and there. There was no real romance between steve and catherine in season 4. Her character was basically a waste. I seriously don't know why they were too afraid to give steve and danny someone that they could go home too. If i was a writer i would have made Ellie his new girl and later his wife. She was perfect for him a strong minded Aussie who could stand up to steve in the right way. Who loves fishing and she had lost her father to murder as well and she new Steves dad. Not to mention she and Alex are both Australian it was a match made in heaven. She wasn't military or a cop which means they could have her show up here and there and still keep the brotherly connection between steve and danny. I liked catherine but i totally understand why there just was no point. Which is sad bc they could've.
