This is the best Queen in Europe, I love her eccentricity although she looks caring and warm. Such a character!

Key aspects for those who don't understand the language: - The royal people arrive in an opposite order, i.e. the higher the rank, the later you arrive (The Queen arrives as the last). - It is a tradition that the royal ladies wear a hat. - The Queen traditionally gives kisses on the cheeks to her family. The cars and people: 1) Princess Benedikte (I don't know the car here, but it is known as a "Kronebil" which roughly translate to "crown car"). Benedikte always arrives first. 2) Prince Joachim & Princess Marie arrive in the Kronebil 9, Audi. It is mentioned that it is not one of the prestigious and "real" cars (those are 1,2 and 5). 3) Crown prince Frederik & Crown princess Mary arrive in the Kronebil 2, Daimler Limousine 1994, 8 seats. 4) H. M. Queen Margrethe arrives in the "Storkrone" (Big Crown), no number, Rolls Royce Silver Wraith 1958, 7 seats. The most prestigious car. Additionally: - The Queen takes the stairs up to the first floor and the elevator up to the next floor. - The woman walking with the Queen is the speaker of the Danish Parliament, Pia Kjærsgaard. - The Queen chose to wear flat shoes which could make it easier on the stairs. Please correct me if I made any mistakes!

So many countries in europe could and would be better off under a constitutional monarchy including Germany, Portugal, and France! I do think countries such as Iraq, Iran, and Turkey would also be better with a Shah/ Sultan as their of states! Its positively unifying as a people!

I like the idea of limited (constitutional) monarchy for Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, etc. But Arab monarchy is not a good idea, Arab World is too traditional unlike liberal Europe, if they want monarchy, they will end up with feudal (absolute) monarchy not a limited monarchy like Europe. Turkey for example, they shift from parliamentary to presidential, Pres. Erdogan is now both head of state & govt. plus he's autocrat, he almost act like an Ottoman Sultan (absolute monarch) with the difference that he's elected. Same in Russia, Putin is almost like a modern-day Tsar.

France is a Republic the only time time it would not be a republic is Queen Elizabeth II wanted fronce back. Germany does not have a monarchy nor does Turkey Russia they have more of a dictatorship monarchs may born and not voted in do you see any monarchs being dictators as powerful some are, Queen Elizabeth II most of her powers are used by her ministers they have to take responsibility not the queen someone asked if the meetings between her and her prime minister to be made public Buckingham Palace said no it would change the way she governs. Some I'd say quite a lot of people know know how the UK is govened her money comes from the crown estate she gets given a percentage but she can always take it back the Sovereign of the UK is given more money in government than out of it around 2-3 hundred million pounds is from crown estate her own business as she owns in right of being queen, those who rule by dictatorship don't give the take even voted in Head of State strip more from you then you have the born to be they are not bad offten a hell of a lot better than voted

The issue with despotism arises when, somewhere down the generational line, someone very unsuited for rulership ends up becoming monarch & runs the entire country into the ground. It is very difficult to guarantee that the right person sits on the throne, so the powers of "the throne" (or any government) must be limited enough, that one spoiled egg can't ruin the whole bunch.
@MTMF.london Жыл бұрын
Iran used to have a Shah who was corrupt and stole the country's riches for his own benefit and he was disposed by his own people and died in exile. Turkey used to be a Sultanate and it didn't end well. Germany, Portugal and France used to have monarchies too but the people didn't want them and got rid of the lot and formed modern democracies, which is a good thing.

Queen Margrethe has a sort of Annnual Report read to her by the Prime Minister as is her right as part of the Danish version of a Constitutional Monarchy. Queen Elizabeth is the personification of the nation, she IS the United Kingdom, and is annointed at her Coronation as God's representative in the United Kingdom, and the other realms and territories that call her Queen. That is why Queen Elizabeth reads out the programme of HER government at the beginning of each parliamentary session, as do HER Governors -General in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and so on.

Mark,"Do you know if the royal houses of Britain and Denmark are related. ?"YES, they are related as Queen Margarethe and Queen Elizabeth are third cousins as descendents of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's granddaughter, Princess Margaret of Connaught and Strathearn, married the future King Gustavus VI Adolphus of Sweden in 1905, and their daughter Princess Ingrid married the future KIng Frederik IX of Denmark, and the present Queen is their eldest daughter; on the other hand, Margaret and Gustavus' grandson, King Carl XVI Gustaf is the present King of Sweden. Queen Margarethe and King Carl XVI Gustaf are therefore first cousins.BTW, King Harald V of Norway is a second cousin of Queen Elizabeth the Second as he is the grandson of Queen Maud of Norway, the former Princess Maud of Wales, the daughter of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra (the daughter of King Christian IX and Queen Louisa of Denmark).Also, you will find this information on official websites and in Wikipedia.

Can anyone translate this... i would love to understand what the politics and traditions are in modern Denmark. Is it like the UK opening of parliament? To lay out the new year's goals and objectives.
@ScandinavianRoyalty6 жыл бұрын
The first item on the agenda is the election of the chairman. This is usually a so-called peacekeeping election, where a single parliamentary party backs up the election of the president. Then four vice-presidents, representing the largest political parties in the parliament, are elected. The chairman and the four vice-presidents constitute the parliamentary leadership - also known as the parliamentary bureau. The second item on the agenda is the Prime Minister's speech. The Prime Minister must give a so-called account of the general status of the kingdom and the measures envisaged by the government - popularly called the opening language. In addition to explaining the current political situation, the speech contains a review of some of the bills that the government will make in the forthcoming parliamentary year. The opening of the Folketing also marks the start of a new parliamentary year. www.regeringen.dk/nyheder/statsministerens-aabningstale-2016/saadan-foregaar-folketingets-aabning/
