Danny Boy
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying,
If I am dead, as dead I well may be,
You'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an Ave there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,
For you will bend and tell me that you love me,
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me

Thank you for recording this. It's so hard to find Scots versions, as most are Irish. My Grandmother was from Balloch and always sung this to us as kids. After she had a stroke she was bed ridden for three years and couldn't speak. But i would whisper the first line in her ear and she could sing the whole song right through. She died in 1994. Now it's 2022 and I'm looking after Mum who has late stage Alzheimer's. I've driven her up to Scotland and Loch Lomond three times in the last 12 months, and it's such a very special place. Playing this song to Mum, and seeing her sing along brings tears to my eyes. Chokes me up. Thank you for your beautiful rendition.

There were NO celts in Britain or Ireland: not EVER. There is and NEVER was any Welsh word for "celt". "Celt" does NOT appear in any Welsh dictionary. "Celt" does NOT appear in any "Shakespeare" of the 16th. century. "Celt / celtic" is NOT mentioned in "Cambria Triumphans" a.k.a. "Brittain In Its' Perfect Lustre" written by Percy Enderbie in 1661AD. "Celt / celtic" is NOT mentioned in any Brythonic document before 1700AD. There are NO celtic histories on these islands: NO laws, customs, alphabet, language, poetry, documents, maps, kingdoms and NO place-names.

I accidentally came across Ella Roberts when KZfaq decided to autoplay one of her songs (The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond), and I remember thinking who is this voice of an angel (I had KZfaq open in the back ground), so I opened it to see and to my surprise not only did she have the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, she was drop dead gorgeous as well. Since then I have been absolutely in love with her Music. Dear Ella thank yo so much for the amazing music, you definitely found a place on my list of favourite artists.
