This is one of the most amazing Drum Videos out there. Danny Carey of Tool showing us all why he is considered among the best drummers in the world. This is the best video we have ever had of Danny Live.
I hope you enjoy this reaction.
If you like it check out some of my other videos.
Thanks

His Mandela pads have 128 strike points arranged in 7 concentric circles. He also switches to the Korg WD-1 wave drum that he has programmed to sound like a tabla drum, which is just to his right of the rack toms. Solid reaction and observations. Love Danny. One of the most dynamic drummers ever and still monstrous at 58 ( this was recorded just before his 59th Birthday). ✌🤘🤘

At 58 years old Danny's sick time signatures and raw power is beyond comprehension. Probably one of the top drummers on the planet.

Glad to see you noticed the "hesitation" at 12:32. I feel like that was his only real slip in the entire performance. This was a really cool analysis/reaction of his drumming. Thanks!

@MrBonniesdaddy Nope. Most reactors I've seen react to this song (and trust me, I've watched over 50) have completely missed this spot. Maybe as a drummer it just was a little more obvious to me and some others. Kobe's dead, so I don't think it would make much of a difference now.

The thing I find most impressive about Danny's drumming is his dynamics. He's able to control the levels of every hit near flawlessly in a musical way I have never hears before from a drummer. You can really hear it at the breakdown with the crazy polyrhythm swiss triplet with the rim shots fading in and out. He replicates is so well live.

I was watching this performance from the fourth row, basically in front of Danny. So good. I also got to see part of their sound check; they performed Descending, which they didn’t do during the actual concert.

That was fun to watch with an obvious real drummer. Great breakdown! I'm a self taught closet drummer that can cover some Tool songs (never this one) so I enjoy the drumming intelect you have and am going to check out your stuff right now! I will never forget the first of many times I saw Tool. Seattle 1992 at an all ages place called DV8. Henry Rollins was headlining with "special guest".. It was Tool right in the middle of grunge heaven and holy crap did they blow the house down!! I bought the EP from Adam and the journey of Tool began. Still have that ticket stub!

That tiny screw up at the end almost proves that he's capable of using both his left and right brain independently and simultaniously similar to high level professional athletes. I bet his hand eye coordination is off the charts and his dexterity is obviously insane. And in that moment his left and right just weren't on the same page lol

@@dusty_ray2372 Nobody ever points it out, and I normally wouldn't say anything because, well, he's god and all I know about drumming is that my ear is always looking for it in any song, but I'd swear that right at 12:27 he's missing a beat and then, like a second later, is when you mention that he hesitated as if he had wanted to do something else.

Yup - #1 reason I left a like is you're the first to see it. Just got out of the groove for a second when he grinned at the end. But he did exactly what you're supposed to do. Bail! Don't force it and fall down the stairs.
