if you saw him in his early days at Wasps then you wouldn't say that. He went to Super rugby a couple of years after his poor form due to return from injury. Personally I thought he played well in Super rugby, and is really impressing this season.

tl:dr version - Cipriani's the real deal, I reckon 2016 could be his year. +Lieutenant Bat Guano Kept on knocking. Lancaster wouldn't let him in. That's more because of Lancaster's overly pious "standards" culture I think. At first glance it appears that Eddie Jones also doesn't rate Cipriani as he'd not even made his six nations (2016) squad. However, I think Jones is being a wily manager here; I think he's understood that Cipriani delivers his best when he's got a real point to prove and leaving him out initially may be a motivational ploy. (I'm probably overthinking this). In my opinion, he's an awesome player and England's most exciting - and one of the most reliable - 10s available. His bad press is just that - jealous pricks writing in rags who couldn't throw a pass further than 5m who seem to enjoy putting people on a pedestal just to knock them down again. Cipriani's a hard-working professional, far more so than he's given credit for. Going off to the Rebels when he was getting so much grief in England was the right thing to do. Got his head down in a relatively unfashionable team and enhances his rugby education. Like Sir Jonny, Cipriani has mostly played for average/mediocre clubs (I mean the years JW spent with Newcastle, not counting his Toulon swansong). I think it speaks volumes when a flyhalf can still look good when playing in such a team. All too easy to impress when you're getting an armchair ride from a dominant pack.
