The JCM800 is like the Browning M2 .50 cal. of the amp world. You just can’t improve on a time and battle tested design. Glad to see that the young-bloods of the rock scene are still flying the Marshall/Gibson combo.🤘🏻🤘🏻

Did anybody hear Nothing Else Matters in this, or am I crazy? Great amp, used to own one. Now I play a Helix (band is gone, and home has to stay somewhat silent ;) ) but even with the modeller I still do the same 2203 plus Booster/OD, I used to do with the band. I will never give up that sound. Hopefully I will need a real amp again soon.

Nice video and great playing. Funny, when I hear someone’s vibrato I think I can tell where the influence has come from. His sounds like Malmsteen vibrato. I noticed a Schenker lick he may have borrowed too. Strange he runs his preamp at 6, usually on these amps they are very bright set like that, I run mine at 9 and it takes the bright cap out and warms it up.

Nice. Well they are pretty solid influences. I think MS was for me more experimental especially in his early days, he improvised a lot more outside the box, kind of like Van Halen did, not following the rules. Anyway, yeah 800’s are pretty bright, I keep my treble low. Also recently I discovered G12 65 speakers, they were made for these amps IMO. Tames the top end and they sound great.

Awesome tone and playing. I'm at a cross between the JCM 800 and the JMP 2203 or 2204. Covers all the 80's hard rock and metal. My favorite Dave Mustaine tone was when he was using the 800 in mid to late 80's. Looking for the So Far and Rust tone.

@scottdunn2178 2 жыл бұрын
@@techdeathhippie6319 I don't know what chat room you got that from, but Marshall QC have always had a 10%-15% tolerance on capacitors, resistors, and transformers. Steve Grindrod (longtime Marshall R&D) designed the two-input Master Volume 2203/2204 in 1976. It should also be noted that Marshall did make a change in the filter capacitors in an attempt to save money on the 2203 in late '85. These 2203's are harsher, grainier, and aren't as loud as the earlier unmolested 2203's (with the vertical inputs). Hope this cleared that up 👍
@techdeathhippie6319

@@scottdunn2178 ya but Marshall has had to switch manufacturers of tubes and parts at times because the quality control of those manufacturers were not sound a good job . They even used 6550s when el34s were not made as good .

@ronaldbaldus4761
@ronaldbaldus4761 Жыл бұрын
That's right. I'm almost 60 years old and had one in the early 80s when I was in high school. Sounded the same then. People think you just plug in and sound like Judas'Priest. Not going to happen. In order to get that 80s metal sound it takes about 5 things. You need distortion chorus delay. Reverb. Reverb and delay makes the notes carry. That what gives it the big sound. You need a noise suppressor a distortion pedal or overdrive, chorus, reverb delay and most people have a cry baby wah. The main key is not the distortion as much as the reverb and delay. You need echo. That's what makes the notes carry.
@ronaldbaldus4761

You really need about 5 pedals. Look at Zakk Wylde set up.

I have a bunch of gear. I'm using a EVH Stealth 100 watt high gain amp. But at low volume it doesn't sound good. These amps are made for concert halls not your bedroom. So I use an old Digitech 1101 processor run it thru the clean channel . I can sound like Zakk Wylde and be playing at tv level and sound just like the CD.
The worst sounding JCM800 ever??
