Scd Observer I think they manage to make every dance sexy. Because of the intensity of connection between them, thick in the air, in their eyes, laced in every line of movement. They move as one and extend with such passion and release. We are always aware of a story, a conversation, a mutual understanding between the two, a heavy intimacy in even the lightest of dances that makes you blush a little watching it and makes you wonder ' what happened here?' without any words at all. And that is to me sexy. I'm no Hollyoaks fan but Danny definately has more acting in him yet. Combine that with the sheer passion for dancing in both their eyes, it makes something special. But each to their own... ;)

Lilz8888888, True. When Oti takes Danny's face in her hand and he leans into it. So sweet. This couple made their dances sing with wonderful attention to little details like that. Things a real, loving couple might do in real life while making up from a real tiff. And of course the GREAT dance itself. What magnificent choreo and acting. Love it!

Oh yes. Is it wrong to have a serious crush on someone? I'm in my 60s for goodness' sake, but there is just something about Danny. It's not just his dancing, or his acting, or his frame, or his looks. Put all those things together and the sum of them is so much greater than the whole. He is the complete package and then some - and the only other person I can think of who is like that is the wonderful Hugh Jackman.

Absolutely breathtaking. Danny is simply -- what can I say? Some people are born to dance, and he is one of them. He has such fluid motions (last week's Cha Cha the best I've seen by a celebrity!) and seems to know instinctively what he is required to do. Man, did Oti ever get herself a partner. Watching them tonight I was hard pressed to tell the pro from the celebrity. A beautiful effortless routine. Can't wait for next week. This promises to be one super SCD season.

Emily Xx The jive perhaps because that jive will go down in Strictly history as the best jive ever lol. But as for the other dances I think Danny will do better in them. I've seen how his Paso is coming along on Strictly It takes two and it looks to be amazing. Dances like the rumba I also think he'll do better in since his hip action seems to be superior to Jays. Also the Charleston as well as the dancing is all about the facial expressions which is something Jay always struggled with. Since Danny is an actor it'll come to him naturally. I think Danny will be the best male celeb Strictly has ever had, because he's already at this astonishing level on only weeks 1&2, he can only get better :)

@@MsTahsin91 Well, while Jay's jive is wonderful, we HAVE to give a big edge to Danny's Jive for sheer, breath-halting showmanship and skill. Brilliant Danny does TWO splits on the floor and then leaps off of a pool table while doing a split in the air before landing on the beat in HIS jive! If people's eyes didn't bug out during those parts of that jive with fantastic Oti, it was only because they'd looked down to get popcorn and missed them. LOL

OMG, ok I am in the USA and just checking out your competition vs our Dancing with the Stars and I don't know who this guy is (his shows don't play here in the USA) but UK stinks if this guy doesn't win!!! He's pretty and can dance. Laurie Hernandez will win ours this season I think (little 16 year old Olympic gymnast spit-fire). But well done Mr Danny Mac! :) Wish we got to know who you are in the USA. By the way Gleb Savchenko came back to us and is the prettiest man on the cast in USA (paired with Jana Kramer) Bruno needless to say LOVES them (and me too)! HOT! I don't know how Len and Bruno do it (your Saturday show and then fly back to Hollywood CA for our shows on Monday and Tues) every week, must be exhausting. :)

michaelgabrielraphael love your comparisons. I really don't know how Len and Bruno do it. I heard whispers that he was going to quit DWTS because of the travelling. DWTS used to come on here and stopped so I'm a bigger of that. I voted every week for Derek and Amber in season 17 via FB-obsessed. I think the gymnast and val will definitely be in the finals. Love Val (loved him with zendaya) I only watch DWTS online if one of my fav celebs are on it. The group dances and the pros are on a completely different level compared to SCD and I think demographic has a lot to do do with it-feels much more modern.

LOL! Sounds like a crazy show (I am sure Hollyoaks would have done well here in the USA). The only soap we used to get up until about 2007 was East Enders (I loved the guy who played PHIL, his character was one that I loved to hate.) Now I can only catch EastEnders if someone posts an episode on KZfaq. But Danny Mac has great dancing skills and he seems to capture the character of the dances so well (I saw week 1 & 2 and I am sure he is going to go FAR in this season of SCD! :)

He did a bit of dancing at 18 but majored in drama, he wasn't at dance school, per se. Going to dance school doesn't make you a great dancer, it hones what you have. Danny is technically brilliant, but also has flair, artistry, creativity and the ideal partner. Winning combination.
@elisawaymer8444
@elisawaymer8444 4 жыл бұрын
Miss Z, Louise had MUCH more dance experience than Danny did. Danny was in the DRAMA concentration at stage school when he was already college- age. He took a dance class or two many years before Strictly. It was his own hard work and Oti's motivation and brilliance and her hard work that turned him into a great dancer on the show. Even Danny's "experience" on The West End as a youth required NO dancing really. Gavroche in Les Mis is *playground* physical - not *dance* physical.

Absolutely fantastic. Danny is so good he'd even be a contender on Dancing With the Stars (US version). I'm getting quite annoyed though with the unjustified favouritism of Daisy Lowe and Laura Whitmore. For me Danny Mac and Louise Redknapp are the standouts this season. Judge Rinder is also being very poorly marked, despite the fact that he's actually a very strong dancer, can't wait for him to prove his critics wrong.
@scdobserver835

unjustified? both the female celebs have ZERO dance training. they did well in week two, especially Laura's waltz for a complete beginner...
@lisalilsmartass
@lisalilsmartass 7 жыл бұрын
Laura has publicly stated on SCD and elsewhere that she did Irish Dancing. Daisy Lowe also very briefly went to a performing arts school as a child. So neither is a complete beginner. However, let's say that both for arguments sake were complete beginners. As a trained dancer, I fully appreciate that one, a few or even a years worth of classes is not enough to master any particular style. My comment was a narrative on the fact that I believe they are being disproportionately marked in comparison to other competitors who have had also little to no training, namely Judge Rinder. It's quite annoying to see the judges lambast Rinder at any given opportunity and not do the same to Laura (I'm mainly referencing her week 1 dance here) and Daisy's week 2 dance (also including that 9 from Len). Rinder actually (imo) has that natural musicality which can't be taught, and makes a great dancer.

lisalilsmartass Yeah, she did mention Irish dancing as a child but you see it's all about the skippity legs. That might give her undue advantage for a jive I supposed. Let me clarify how the judges mark the celebs. They view the celebs week one dances and set a bench mark that way. They know from their week one performance who are the contenders and who are the pretenders and who are the duffers. After that, all the celebs' marks are scored according to their individual abilities (with their week one sores as benchmark), that means even when the judges score Ed seven (a pretender at best), that score will NEVER be equal to Danny's seven, because Danny is way above Ed's league dance-talent wise (and he's marked according to HIS benchmark week one score, as a contender). IIRC, the only judge who lambasted Rinder, it appeared, both in week one and two, was from Craig. The other judges were very complimentary to him, and rightly so. Laura was the same, the judges said she was a little messy in week one and had to work on straightening her legs, that said, the improvement in her week two waltz was astounding, and thus deserving all the praises from the judges. Incidentally both Rinder and Laura scored the same 25 for their week one cha-cha. I would say that they are both naturally musical and can do more than executing the steps, i.e. they can actually perform. Whether you like their performance is another thing though...

Okay, a tad patronising with the explanation of how the judges score. I've watched every season of SCD and have watched Bruno and Len every season they have appeared on DWTS. I'm well versed with how the judges score. The process of judge scoring is not as perfect as your comment *implies*. This of course is for several factors many of which are acceptable, the order in which the contestants perform (best example being Week 1 where Len put himself into a hole saying Daisy was the best Week 1 dance ever, and then you had Danny very much blow her away), but also personal preference. So to pick up that example again, Len as a traditionalist was always going to give Daisy's Waltz that 9 rather than Danny's Cha Cha based on the choreography. Oti pulled on Jazz styles in her routine. I personally love seeing styles "borrow" from other disciplines, it's something that as a dancer I love to do and as a viewer I love to watch. I generally feel that all strong choreographers (read Oti!) can generally integrate different styles into dance seamlessly. However, Len however is not as big a fan as Craig for example when it comes to seeing this "borrowing" of styles. This is where often the "disproportionality" comes in because the judges will in cases exaggerate their mark in order to prove a point. To use the same example, to prove his point of Daisy's being the best Week 1 dance ever Len gave her a 9. Her performance was very good, but a 9 suggests that in Len's opinion she was better than Louise or Danny in Week 1. Of course, here is where the order of the celebrities performance comes in. General example, if you perform mid - end of the show you are more likely to score higher than if you perform first. In regards to the Rinder situation, we will probably have to agree to disagree. The judges weren't complimentary at all. Example being Bruno's Week 2 comment "You can *actually* dance", it being implied here that the he/judges had thought otherwise.

lisalilsmartass Oh dear, I unreservedly apologise if I appear to be patronising. It's not meant to be like this! Len HAS given a nine to first week waltz in the past. In it he also said (series 5?) to Austin Healy, that it was the BEST waltz he had seen 'EVAH'. I am sure you recalled that it gave an impression that he had no way to go with Austin from then on as well. But Austin did a cute and rather competent Hair Spray Jive and his popularity with the public was sealed then. My comments on the how the judges score each contestants is not meant to be rules that cannot be flouted. For instance judges do compare between dancers, especially in a Dance Off situation. There are rare occasion that an obvious weaker celeb won over a stronger one in the Dance Off because the weaker one had a dance that really suited him or her while the stronger one had a bad day (Penny vs Gabby). Then again, no matter how they score the celebs, if the disparity between the weaker and stronger celebs are too large, even if the judges were initially stricter to the more talented celeb in the main show, the judges tended to vote for the stronger one through to the next round of the 'competition' (recall Letitia's goldfish rumba against Stephanie's QS?). Judges are given one task, to try to mark according to techniques and performance as fair as they can. We as audience have the other part to play, we vote for whoever we like (our favourites), and it can be ANY spectrum of reasons, whatever we fancy. Strictly has largely kept to this principle (except the annoying Dance Off which was introduced in series 5 and forever shifted the power slightly to the judges but I digress) and I dare say that's how it's remained popular till this day... I haven't watched DWTS since an Olympian Skater celeb of Japanese descent won with Mark Ballas, so I can't comment... Edit to add: Often the producers only came up with the order in which celebs are performing on Saturday morning, after they watched all of them dance. They always put a competent celeb (not usually the top scorer) as their opening number, a duffer or boring/slow number second and third, then nearing the middle a 'pick up', usually a pleasant surprise or top scorer celeb in the middle, and towards the end they tried to close with a bang, so the last and the second last they often gave the really talented celebs that spots. I don't think the judges mindfully score higher those celebs in those given slots in the main show just because. Now I won't say the first performance is always at a disadvantage. Gethin Jones's VW and Austin Healy (can't remember his dance now, but a ballroom number) are two I recalled did an amazing first dance and scored the highest as well. That happened before...

Just watched the ITT Monday, Danny and Oti are doing Paso in Movie Week. My prediction is that they'll nail it, and Darcey and/or Bruno might even give them a ten. You see, there isn't any hip actions required for a Paso, and since Paso is a "man's" dance, and judging Danny's MJ moves in his cha cha, he'll have absolutely no problem creating the Spanish lines, acting haughty as a matador (Paso is a dramatic dance)... Danny, being a trained dancer, will be sufficiently body-aware to remember creating that characteristic taut buttocks look that the Paso requires... I predict a Jay McGuiness situation from Doti's Paso this Saturday, and I am marking my comments here! ;)

Scd Observer Yep I agree he'll get a great score for his Paso, and will probably end up getting the highest score of the night but we've already seen from his cha cha cha in week one that he has awesome hip action?? Even Darcey commented on it. Danny Mac seems to be an all rounder, meaning he'll excel at all the dances thrown at him whereas Jay seemed better suited to some, more than others. Both are great nonetheless, Danny edges it for me though, he appears to be a natural born dancer. Some people just have 'it' lol.

Tahsin Ali Jay did a fantastic, lyrical Paso, his final Paso was an improvement to his first attempt. When I say Danny will do a Jay, I meant a week three Jive-level of greatness. Of course, I am projecting here, as I think Danny's well trained in musical-theatre and so the haughty air of a matador will not be a problem for him in this dance, and physically, since he can create those iconic MJ moves and DD moves in his cha-cha, I can visualise him getting the Spanish lines right...

@@michellefox6709 LOL We had to wait for the Samba in week 10 for that! Wonderful Danny, though he can portray the most confident cool guy,was apparently understandably a bit shy about that. He's a REAL person, after all! Who, when you get right down to it, really wants the world gawking at them? Nobody. But he understood that his "chest-baring" was an organic choice for their uninhibited, delightfully free-wheeling Samba.

Much as I like this routine (although I always skip the beginning with the bag) and love Danny's dancing, I do wish Oti had made it less of an American Smooth with the bit out of hold in the middle. It means that their American Smooth will have to go one better and then become a mini-Show Dance and then the actual Show Dance in the final (if he gets there) becomes less of an event. Danny's movement across the floor in hold was so brilliant I wanted to see more of it- he can save the angsty leg-holding moves for the rumba, making it have more impact, rather than blowing all their best moves early. ETA- have just tragically(!) totted it up: they dance 42 bars in hold and 33 bars out of hold (and I wasn't even counting the first 10 seconds in order to make sure it was 90 seconds of dance). That's more time out of hold than they're allowed in an American Smooth!

Not joking about the bag bit :-) I'm loving their dances too, but in the same slightly guilty way I loved Artem's choreography- that's to say worried that it's the thin end of the wedge of losing the traditional stuff and becoming more gimmicky like DWTS.

Sol Librero He did a bit of dancing at 18 but majored in drama, he wasn't at dance school, per se. Going to dance school doesn't make you a great dancer, it hones what you have. Danny is technically brilliant, but also has flair, artistry, creativity and the ideal partner. Winning combination.
