Nice video at an awesome location. Piece of warning for beginners: the parallel slide is a pretty advance move. You should try it on smooth surface and only when you've mastered the easier stopping techniques (e.g. power slide)
@anttiniskanen382
@anttiniskanen382 4 жыл бұрын
Well, I think the power slide is not optimal stopping method for beginners eather due that it's not very easy. I think for the beginners the Drag stop(where you drag your other skate sideways behind) is propably the easiest and still quite efficient method for stopping. I am a beginner for myself.

I really like your videos, their artistic, informative and you just seem to have a really nice and pleasant personality. I am going to pick up a pair of RB 80 pro's today. I haven't been on rollerblades since I was a kid. I am not even sure you could call them rollerblades; they were fast tracks, where you would keep your shoe on and attach it to the frame and wheels by using the ankle and 45 degree straps. Talk about old school. I did play hockey for 16 years though so I am expecting to pick it up fairly quickly. I am very excited. I live in Toronto so it's going to be a lot of fun! Anyways, thanks for all the good videos my friend!

I honestly look forward to that inevitable time when rollerblading gets back its support by the masses. I miss it but all of my pairs have been stolen or never returned and now I can’t justify rebuying until there’s some big modern-age advancement. I want Rollerblade to be the pioneer to whatever new twist that is. Maybe it’s a much slicker version of a strap-on skate where you only dip your shoe’s toes into the front housing, then the rest of the skate relies on strapping a stiff vertical braces around your lower ankle, somehow preventing rolling of your foot while giving you a secure bond to the skate. Snowboards have developed quick locks , maybe shoe design will eventually include compatible rollerblade locks for that same minimalist desire.

For the Parallel Slide, do i put weight on my inner leg( with reference to the video's example, the right foot) as I start to cut in and slide, and then keep it there all the way, or do I shift my weight outwards to the outer leg (the left foot) and then balance it out as i hold that position?? What about my upper body? And where do i keep looking at?

Absolutely amazing tutorial. I’d like to add (2) things. One, this is a lot easier on wheels larger than 60mm with a narrow profile. Secondly, I would warn about the dangers of sliding at an angle below 45° and the dangers of not keeping your feet shoulder-width apart. Sliding with inadequate feet spacing or at the wrong angle can cause you to slide out and fall backwards.

@MrShaun737

It might be your stride that's causing that uneven wheel wear. You might try adjusting your frames to more inside or outside. I had the same problem. I also noticed that I was pushing off with my toes instead of my heels. And when I was striding my foot was at a lateral angle instead of being straight.
