I bought the gsm box but it’s not supported by 2g. How is yours working? Mine doesn’t work. I’ve only got 3/4 g.

I would use smaller-spaced fencing at least a couple of feet along the bottom. Those 6" openings will only filter out any trapped piglets, which will grow up to be big, trap-shy pigs.

When I look online at the gate opener, none of the are 12v. Only household plug in. Did you have to rewire or modify? Please let me know, have everything ready to build.

Can you do a followup? the fencing seems a bit low, some of the trap videos have shown them jumping 4' with an anti-escape lip, I think it was called hogdinni Nice diy tho thanks for sharing

Help with SIM Card. Was told by T--mobile/At&t that SIM card wont work as you describe because there is no Equipment ID number in the RTU5024 cellular relay. Did the TracFone prepaid SIM card get around this serial number issue?

Now that AT&T has killed its 3G GSM service, does Tracfone still work for you? It would be awesome if the trail cam had a closure port on it. Cheers from Louisiana.

alarmsim.com/home That’s what I use, I’ve built quite a few of these boxes. A bit different than this setup, but same GSM relay box. Alarmsim is 5$ a month for 250 mins, 250 texts and the box doesn’t use any mins. They have other plans the 5$ gives me unlimited triggers per month. You don’t have to use a phone to activate. Just enter the SIM card number and payment details on the site. Can even buy the cards off Amazon.

I bought the RTU5024 switch along with a sims card(alarm sim) from Amazon I have been unsuccessful with communicating with the switch I’m not sure what I’ve done wrong I activated the sims card and installed it has a 19 digit number I’m not sure if I’m plugging the correct numbers in before the 19 digits should I put in 01, or 001, or 011 for the country code also what do I put in in front of my authorized number any help would be appreciated

That gate looks just like the one I made several years ago! I used 3/4” plywood for the gate. My plans are online in a PDF file if anyone is interested.

What do you use for a camera? I have built a cellular activated trap door, and I have a spartan camera watching it, but I want something better. I've been reading plans on how to add a security camera so that you can watch a live stream, but I'm not sure what all will work.

Doug, I have never done live streaming. I used a Spartan camera too. I know you’d need a data plan and an IP address. I’ve started using LiFePO4 Lithium batteries instead of lead acid for my cams. Wouldn’t work though to activate a solenoid.

The Spartan works good, but I'd really like to be able to watch real-time video. Plus, the Spartan has a limited range of view, or at least it does with the size of our trap. I've been reading this article, and they say to get an IP based webcam, but it doesn't seem to be as easy to find as they make it seem. Here's the article in question. With an existing unlimited data plan from Verizon, I'm not sure how much more it would actually cost. With the way this guy did it, you could just about have a live streaming setup for less than $300. I sent them a message for more information but I doubt I'll ever hear back. Spartan is coming out with a live cam later this year. Do you have good cellular connection at your place of use? I used to make Yagi Antennas. They really help.

I just found this out! I'm a Spartan dealer, and this information isn't even known among dealers unless you do research. That is an answer to my prayers haha!
