I had noticed a pretty significant clanking coming from the passenger side and thought it was something inside the passenger door or the window track inside the door shaking around over bumps.
I was replacing the oil pan since the drain plug was stripped and I had to take out the idler arm to clear the pan. As soon as I went to put it back, I noticed that the bushings were completely worn out and it was the cause of the noise. I got the idler arm changed out with a new Moog replacement and it seems to be working fine, but I still need to get it aligned...
I am also very happy with the new oil pan and gasket. Still no leaks!

What headers are you using? Did you need a drop bracket for the PS cylinder?

They are generic long tube headers that my father-in-law says he got from Summit Racing. I asked him if he knew what brand, and he doesn't remember, but he just said that they were the cheapest ones. And it doesn't look like a drop bracket was used on the PS cylinder. I have been thinking about putting shorty headers on this, because these ones hit speed bumps all the time. But the sound is so good on these... Take care, -Dan

Thanks for the note. I’m also using the Moog idler and there were no instructions. Not super clear where the foam washers go.

Nice '67! What do you think of the quality of the Moog idler arm? Seems funky with all the rubber washers.

Thank you, it’s been fun! So far so good with this idler arm, I hadn’t installed one like this before, but it went pretty smoothly and it seems to be working fine. No more noises anymore. Thanks for watching! -Dan

@@DantheFixitMan I have a 69 with manual steering and just ordered one from Opentracker that has roller bearings instead of rubber bushings like the Moog and others. The bearing design is supposed to help a little bit with the steering effort. I hope so.
