I suggest to watch the video until the end!
The myth of Freddie Mercury, the charm of the charismatic leader of the London rock band born in 1971, the singer who animates stages and stadiums with his gestures enlivened by sudden thunderbolts full of inner truth. It was all written in the face that it was reality and not fiction. Freddie thought he was what he showed in his performances, he was loaded with trappings as artists do but talent was released liquid conveyed by a desire to be there and live to that extent. "You can be anything you want, just turn into everything you think you can be," he said.
His life, however, made him come across a bad disease that killed him young and withdrew him from the recording rooms while he was finishing his song "Mother Love". It was May 22, 1991 when Freddie, exhausted, decided to stop the work he was doing, thinking of returning in the following days but never returned. He could not complete the recording of the last verse - which in fact is done by Brian May. “He said“ I can't do it, I have to go and rest, then I'll come back and finish it ”… but he never came back,” the guitarist said. As is well known, Freddie no longer had the opportunity to complete his work because shortly after he returned to London in the safe and maternal environment he needed to leave in peace.
"Mother Love" is a sweet and melodic single that with a sense of mysterious foreboding accompanies the singer to define his last will and hope.
"I've walked too long in this lonely lane / I've had enough of this same old game - sings Freddie Mercury with the heartbreaking and moving words of Mother Love - I'm a man of the world and they say that I ' m strong / but my heart is heavy, and my hope is gone. / Out in the city, in the old world outside / I don't want pity, just a safe place to hide / Mama please, let me back inside".
Freddie Mercury, the mythical performer, melts away from his vicious vicissitudes and as in a cry for help and redemption he invokes his mother, the only one from whom he feels the need to receive love. He has nothing to which he wants to cling but her, the only woman and person in whom he has boundless trust and hope of a certain welcome. There is neither success, nor money, nor everything else to which he has devolved his entire existence but only a visceral and plaintive desire for peace and emotional warmth.
Mother Love is featured on the posthumous album Made in Heaven, released by Queen on November 7, 1995. The song was actually written by Brian May as well - as in the case of The Show Must Go On - but the guitarist tried to describe all the sensations that Freddie Mercury could have felt in those last moments.

Brian: freddie was singing in the studio and then told us I'm not going to be able to finish this. I'm going to go home and get some rest I'll be back and we will knock this out darling. And that was the last time I saw him Roger: I lived down the street was heading out the door when he got a call from Peter freestone saying "don't bother coming he is already gone." I just broke down crying because I didn't get to say goodbye.

I think this song speaks to all of us about our mortality and the end of life - when our lives are coming to an end most of us take a step back and reflect on our lives our triumphs and mistakes and missed opportunities but all that matters is that we are with our loved ones who love us equally, the holding of the hand; the kiss on the forehead; no pain just complete peace; I know from being a palliative nurse these things are sooooo important!!!!! When we are dying we don’t need drama or crying over the bed we just need to be held in those final precious moments - we love you Freddie - your legacy lives on 🌈❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌈🌈🌈

Brian: and that was the last time he was in the studio. The last time I saw Fred we had the bedroom open so he could look out into his garden. I was talking about the flowers and he said "you don't have to say anything dear just you being here makes me happy"

Actually on this last song Brian May said to Freddie. I don't know if we can do this Freddie and Freddie sat down. smoked a cigarette and drink a glass of vodka, then stood up and slowly walk to the microphone and said - let's do this. Brian May had to kick in and finish the last verse, because Freddie was so exhausted he couldn't sing anymore. That's a true story from the interview Brian May gave to the Rolling Stone magazine. Actually if you compare Freddie Mercury's voice on his last song too songs earlier in his career like say Bohemian Rhapsody you can tell that he lost a lot of power in his voice. but he had such great vocals that it was so subtle you really didn't notice. Very early on in his years Freddie Mercury said - I'm not going to be a rockstar, I'm going to be a legend - and that he was.

A song written for a friend who is dying. Brian May's composition of what became Freddie's very last vocal performance is awe-inspiring. No silly gallows humour or far-fetched witty bullshit. These are the honest words of someone who is actually facing the end of his life. One of Brian's finest works for sure. And a bit hard to listen to, if you know how it was recorded and finished.

Between 4:22 and 4:31 you hear, at an extremely high speed, very short samples of every song Queen ever recorded. Right after that, you hear a short sample of "Going Back" - a track Freddie recorded under the name Larry Lurex. "I think I'm going back To the things I learnt so well in my youth" ...followed by the crying newborn.

When I listened to this song for the first time, it had such a strong impact on me. I wanted to listen to it precisely because I knew it was the very last one that Freddie recorded before his death. And knowing the story, that Brian recorded the last verse because Freddie couldn’t do it anymore, I thought, no, I can’t listen to this anymore, it’s heartbreaking. And I didn’t listen to it again. Until yesterday, when I suddenly got the urge to listen to it again. I kept hearing the song in my head and eventually I put it on. I can’t stop listening to it now. And I love it so much even though it makes me so sad. See, I have depression and anxiety and I usually avoid anything that can be a trigger. Mother Love is a strong trigger, especially because when I think about Freddie in his last months, I can’t help thinking about my uncle, who just like Freddie, died too soon because of an illness, not the same though. But I can’t stop listening to it, it hurts, but it’s just so beautiful. My God, this man will never cease to amaze me. You’ll be forever in my heart Freddie Mercury ❤️❤️❤️

His life is so moving, this is a real brave man handling slow death with so much courage and love of life! Many brave men handled quick death valiantly, I would say when faced with slow death, it is a very different story, complicated emotions, I think he is at a non human level, this makes this song so special!!

As he was dying he still had the vocals. There was no "auto-tuning" for this. That is the true difference between a true artist whose instrument is their voice and wannabe hacks that should not be allowed near a microphone. Sadly, so many people think that those who use autotune are true stars. No, they're are not. They suck and can't hold a tune without it.

so Cher, who’s been an active singer since the early 1960s is not a star just because she uses Auto-Tune now?
@treywest268
@treywest268 Жыл бұрын
@@AlexeBriand2002She was great at one time. If she is using autotune now then that means she has lost her ability to sing like she used to. If she has reached that point she should retire (it's not like she needs the money) or learn to sing with the voice she now has. John Prine's voice changed drastically after his throat cancer. It became a much rougher voice but he came to terms with it and continued singing. Many famous singers have done the same without relying on an electronic tool to themselves sound appealing. She was a star. Once.
