Iam always fascinated ,when I see Kiswahili being expanded to reach other parts of the world ,which is not Africa. Iam from South Sudan. I learnt Kiswahili in Kakuma refugees camp , located in Northern part of Kenya,,where almost students didn't speak Kiswahili often. However, I myself loved the language more than other subjects. I could spend a lot of my times studying Kiswahili. When my Kiswahili teachers realised that I have a great interest in the language, they could teach hard if they see me responding positively in the class. Every Kiswahili teacher appeared to be my friend and like me very much. Some started to translate Kiswahili in English and I could copy everything in my note book. The first supportive little book I used to have was a book in which English words were translated in Kiswahili. The first stage I went through before that, was learning vowel letters such as, a,e,i ,o,u which form Kiswahili syllables. After that, I started learning tenses, ' nyakati': wakati uliopo, wakati uliopita, wakati timilifu , wakati ujao na kadhalika. I started it like that till I read Kiswahili books themselves. When I resettled to Australia in 2010, I bought myself some Kiswahili books, which I refers to sometimes so that I can maintain the little I have, because it is not commonly spoken here.

I'll tell you for free. Few opportunities exist thanks to your fluency in Swahili. Journalism, Education and then what? We don't have self sustaining structures in place so that there isn't a need to learn English. We have to learn it so that we can put ourselves in a better position when it comes to doing business and seeking employment. Hata huyu Wairungu ni juu anajua kizungu ndio maana alipata kazi huko. Look more closely. We just have a poor economy all round.

Swahili originated in Tanzanian coast and spread on northern region of Tanzania 🇹🇿 to Mombasa (Kenya 🇰🇪) and southern region of Tanzania to Mozambique 🇲🇿 by business men and traders... Later it went and spread to every neighbor of Tanzania, thus every neighbor from Kenya 🇰🇪, Uganda 🇺🇬, Rwanda 🇷🇼, Burundi 🇧🇮, Eastern Congo 🇨🇩, northern Zambia 🇿🇲, northern Malawi 🇲🇼, Mozambique 🇲🇿, and Comoro island can all speak Swahili... But Kenya's neighbors Ethiopia 🇪🇹, South Sudan 🇸🇸, Somalia 🇸🇴 can't speak Swahili because Kenyans didn't create or spread Swahili words to other neighbors... Also after gaining independence, Tanzania 🇹🇿 immediately officialized Swahili as a national and official language of the nation while Kenya 🇰🇪 after gaining independence officialized English as their national and official language, but later Kenya 🇰🇪 added Swahili as their national language but not official language. Swahili is spoken fluently in Tanzania 🇹🇿 than any African country, Kenya use Swahili as their second language after English, while the rest countries use Swahili as their third language
