Inspiring music as always. ~ "His words almost bit into my soul and the heaviness of truth was unbearable. From the ballroom I heard a beautiful melody and closed my eyes. This music...I wish I was still alive.... Somehow I found strength to get up and follow the sound. My body felt heavy and I didn't know which was worse.. the pain of the flesh or that of the soul. Yet every step I took was a small victory. I tried so hard to go on surviving but I was a completely helpless and weak vampire. Not a new born vampire but not an ancient one either. The pure bloods would often mock my presence in the castle, considering those like me nothing more than servants. I was a servant hoping to become better, stronger. But my frail body couldn't withstand the vampire existence. There were rules. It was a mistake but I kept on fighting to live. If living was what you could call it. My brother was right, there was nothing there for me except for oblivion and more death, abundant and terrifying. As I approached the ballroom, the air was becoming dense with the scent of incense and that of living blood. It almost made me faint but I kept going. I couldn't withstand my weakness and that thirst, which I couldn't get used to. It ravaged me as much as it did them. I walked the long corridor like a hidden pathway to my long lost memories but it all felt empty, lifeless like a spent candle where only the smoke remained. The pain was old and the heart never forgot. The wound was somehow covered yet deep down it was never healed. My slumber was plagued with numerous nightmares and I was damned to relive those days over and over again. The sound was getting louder as I was getting closer, and I could tell how gifted was the artist invited to entertain them. It was no surprise though, seeing a living breathing human in this lair of death was nothing new. The eyes were blindfolded but their hands played the instrument beautifully after having mastered this art of seduction of the ears. Even as vampires, they would still appreciate and enjoy the pleasures of the mortals. For them it was just entertaining, like listening to the thrills of a nightingale. For us servants, it was pain. Pain that reminded of what we've left behind. It soothed and pierced our hearts at the same time. Music...the lesser of two evils.. Enchant despair and invite them to dance on the rhythms of the night. Let the moon bless their gathering for there's still time for their darkened joy." ~
