The Dark Knight was just an epic movie. that Actors played their roles so great. And the Joker, the role didn't overtake batmans role in the movie but Ledgers portray of the Joker kind of took The Dark Knight to that gold standard. if Ledger didn't give that epic performance it probably wouldnt be that high but very close to the top non the less

Eh. That’s debatable. The Dark Knight rises was kind of a massive letdown. He also directed that overhyped piece of shit Dunkirk. Heath Ledger is the one who drove this movie. Films with a Light/Dark dichotomy are only as good as their antagonist, and TDK would not have been the same without him, and I’m sure that it wouldn’t have been as well received.

i never took the superhero genere seriously before. i used to watch them only for the action and some laughs, but the dark knight changed my perspective about the genere. that movie was soo good that i kept thinking about it for days after watching it in the thetre. even now i like to watch it again.

Actually, a friend of mine divulged this: the whole narrative is an upside-down to all other superhero movies. Bruce Wayne is an isolated billionaire, living in his castle, dark, reflective, alone. That used to be an archetype of a villain! On the other side Joker is an outgoing, laughing, intelligent and witty. It used to be trademarks of the protagonist. Not my idea, but interesting POV.

However, TDK is so much better on a thematic level and the villain is so much more compelling because of the moral battles he has with Batman and Ledger's overall excellent performance. In this one, Nolan's established his universe, and now we can see what he does with it. And it absolutely delivers.

I'm very happy they didn't leave Dent for the next movie. Whilst we didn't know it till the end of the film he was Jokers plan: it made the film what it is.

I always feel like now I know everything about the movie and then I rewatch the film and again I learn something truly amazing. The Dark Knight is my favourite film of all time.

Obviously there is no clear evidence that Dent killed anyone or they couldn't blame Batman, so why not just leave Dent's death and death of 5 people he killed as unsolved murders? It wouldn't be the first unsolved crime in Gotham City. 2) Why would police give Joker a phone in prison (which he used to blow up that prison)? Joker's a terrorist, don't give him anything. 3) Why would people on 2 boats choose to not detonate? Since they cannot possibly know that Batman (or police) is coming to their rescue, there is no way to save other ship, either they will blow it up or Joker will. Since you cannot save other ship, why not destroy it to save your own ship? 500 dead people is better than 1000 (if those 500 couldn't be saved anyway). 4) Cops demanded Batman to surrender, so Joker would stop killing cops. When Dent surrendered as false Batman, they needed to transfer him to county jail. During that transfer, Joker killed more than 50 cops.

Batman won he just had to take the fall for dents actions so the city could have a hero with a face and not a vigilante who wears a mask. Batman has to go through a lot but in the end he won

To most Avengers is actually the standard. The Nolan trilogy isn't really a cbm triligoy but more of a crime saga. Most superhero movies fit into fantasy(BvS, Avengers movies) or Sci-fi(GotG). Although TDK is still the best, it lacks comic book themes

The Dark Knight is the gold standard imo for one very simple reason - it was incredibly good. I still remember how me and my friends were mindblown now 10 years ago when we left the theater, and then we discussed a movie and it's themes for next few days... And those were all serious conversations, not same fanboyish rubbishness. That's something never happened after that on that level. The closest superhero movie when it comes to it's philosophy imo is Watchman, it was almost on that level. I did enjoyed Avengers 1, Winter Soldier and Logan(especially) as well, but there is something special about Dark Knight, it will be very, very hard to surpass it. It is The Godfather of mine generation.

In my opinion i feel the ledger made the film what it is.

He went from taking on ras and the league who are easily batmans toughest greatest villian to struggling against dogs twice in the movie. Are you telling me batman can easily defeat ras the league, and everyone else in begins than stuggle against way weaker villians in tdk. The joker only works on batman if batman wont kill him. If the joker is up against the punisher or any other superheros that dont mind killing he is taken out right away in the beginning. I dont see what is so great about a character with no character development no backstory, motivations reasons eft a character that is just evil for no reason at all. The only thing i find interesting about the joker is when he is funny with his humor comedy, and his gf harley. Take both away and he is not much Different than many generic villians in movies and tv shows. Especially typcial slasher killer villians in horror movies that just kill for no reason.
