I guess, you misunderstand the Eva's goal. Adam's goal was to end the loop. Eve's goal to keep it. Adam's wish was to end his suffering. Eve's goal to keep her only child alive. Both are smart and dumb at the same time. I think the entire theme of the story, at how our past affects our present and future. Some people want to forget past and the others want to keep it at any cost no matter how bad it was.

Basically the implication in her flashback scenes is that she killed Alt-Claudia and then repeats the cycle passing down knowledge to her past self enough times to deduce the true origin point. You're correct that this is the first time she ever said this to Adam at this moment. (Likely she tried telling him at other points in the timeline but he didn't listen, so this was the time when she finally found the right moment to tell him.)

She grew knowledge from each cycle, passing down everything she discovered to her young self so the young Claudia could start her research with more knowledge and learn new things, things that she eventually would pass down to the next young Claudia and so on. She cut herself from the cycle by exploiting the loophole - she explained that she knew about the fact that time stood still for a little moment everytime the apocalypse happens. During that fraction of second, the cycle and the chain of causes and effects is "temporarily" ineffective, allowing one person to do something new. She exploited the loophole to her advantage so she could be able to stand in front of Adam for the first time and end the loop.

Tannhaus invents a time machine and goes back in time to save his family. As Tannhaus travels back in time, he leaves behind time travel technology or information that should not exist. It triggers an endless paradox between the two worlds and allows Martha and Jonas to exist. Martha and Jonas’ existence is a phenomenon called the bootstrap paradox. You can google it for a more in-depth explanation.

The origin world was never destroyed. It just wasn’t accessible from Adam or Eve’s world except on a certain day. Tannhaus’s time machine in the origin world causes the black nuke in Adam and Eve’s world. It was also the beginning of both alternative universes. Which is why Jonas and Martha were able to visit the origin world at the moment of the black nuke and set the origin world on a different course. The black nuke leaves behind the fuel for time travel. Therefore Tannhaus inadvertently inserts time travel technology that causes the bootstrap paradox.

I believe it’s because Tannhaus from the origin used the time machine to save his family. Therefore creating two observable realities. One where his family is dead and one where they’re alive. It would explain why the two universes are slightly different. The show says according to Schrödinger’s cat, something exists once it’s observed. Since Tannhaus observed these two realities, according to the show’s logic, two universes were created. The bootstrap paradox is a circular series of events with seemingly no origin point much like Jonas and Martha’s family tree. A much simpler example is who invented the original time machine in the alternate universes if the Tannhaus there just reverse engineered his own work from the future? The bootstrap paradox explains there is indeed a source of causation, if a time traveller leaves behind technology of information of time traveling, it is the cause of these circular events. So no, Jonas and Martha are not a figment of Tannhaus’s imagination. I wasn’t clear because I was answering two questions in one paragraph.

In the previous episode she realizes something is wrong, because her alt-self is guided by Eva who's not committed to saving Regina (while old Claudia promised younger-Claudia that Regina will live if everything goes the right way). Eva only wants the cycle to repeat itself forever (which means Regina will eternally die before her time, stricken by cancer). Claudia promises to her alt-self she will find a way to change the outcome (which means untying the knot) before killing her and taking her place. If you notice alt-Clauda was holding the advanced time machine before being shot, which gives the main Claudia new ways to investigate time.

@@KCKSkel As I understand it, creating the time machine is the mistake. Tannhaus wanted to break the natural flow of the time (linear for its world). Time "responds" to this mistake by becoming cyclic in 2 different (but connected) world. I see this like a graph. If linear time (original world) is the x-axis, then when Tannhaus make the mistake (in 1986 ? not sure if it's correct), time becomes cyclic/circle in Y-axis around this precise date in x-axis until someone can break the loop (hello claudia), to return on the linear x-axis.
