Oscar's "But, Why?" is one of the saddest things in a game full of sad things. It never fails to get me.

To all the new players watching this video: skip Havel. He will oneshot you and his ring won't be that useful until you get heavy armors later in the game.

What i did at the start is collect everything near firelink shrine then go down and obtain the fire keeper soul in new londo ruins then take the one from blight town. With the master key i was able to get the fire keeper soul from blight town and souls i can crunch if i want. I also went over to the dragon in drake valley area and got astora straight sword and other items fkr my faith build. I also used a route to skip tauras and get more souls to crunch which was pretty good. After all was done, i had like 14 dex, 10 str and 20 faith because of the souls i crunched that i found. I was basically fully healing myself with +3 estus and i had 10 vit. Thats pretty much what i did and i did get a grass crwst shield. I started with wanderer class and it was fun but i did kill the tauras demon cuz j wanted the twinkling titanite near it and i did it for the lols, even though i could of just skipped the whole boss and kicked the ladder down.

I just like how you could beat the game without fighting Taurus Demon, so I thought this would be a long series

Killing Havel with the bleed effect from the Uchigatana or the Morning Star is also effective. The Uchigatana can be obtained by killing the undead merchant and the Morning Star can be found under the elevator in the firelink shrine.

You know... at the start you could have said that the character needs to have chosen master key as your gift at the start in order to do this. I just got a bandit up to the door going to Havel only to realize that I didn't have a key to open the door. Brb, remaking character.

lol this guy so good that whenever my friends and I have an argument about this game about how a weapon sucks or something I always end it with something like "Claws suck! unless your vageta."

Havel+the black knight are much harder than the taurus demon....why go through all the trouble when all you need is 3 plundgin g attacks with the axe (2 with the zwei) But that's just the way i see it..

It's funny how like literally 20 minutes after posting that comment, I got amazingly good at backstabbing.

you know what's amazing! going through NG and NG+ without ever leveling up! ONE item in particular shows off it's Sweetness in these hard times - Green Blossoms! Only a crazy person would fight the 4 kings at sl 5 without them.

It was just a quick run through the area to grab a few items, I wasn't going into much detail. My "everything possible before the gargoyles" playthrough takes this idea to the extreme.

I had that problem a lot when I started, just keep playing and you'll get the hang of it.

What upgrade path should I choose for my Zeihander? I also have a black knight sword from the Undead Burg that I made +4. Should I use the Zeihander? Should I make it +15 or do something else?

Another thing u can do early game is buy shortbow and 25large arrows and shoot the hellkite dragons tail off to get the drake sword it does base damage of 200 its 6 pounds and only requires 16str and 10dex to use it which is like 4 lvl ups for a bandit

no it doesn't matter if you get the master key or not, you can still get all these items without the master key. You just won't be able to get them at the start of the game, you'll have to find the keys to the doors that the master key is unlocking.

I can't get good at backstabbing for some reason. Guess I'll have to skip the Gavel fight..

You can find them in petrus's stash under the church elevator.

no doubt his skill makes it possible knowing the mechanics and how it works, ill stick to my grinding for levels this dudes kick ass tho, does each ng+ increase the souls given ex. ng+7 give more than 6 and 6 more than 5?

For the part about poise, you could have gotten the elite knight set in the area just before moonlight butterfly since you were in the darkroot garden anyway. Wouldnt have taken much more time either. Good defense is also a part of a good offense. :D

Different weapons need different spots I've noticed. With some you need to be angled a little bit to the left, or the right. Some weapons don't seem to care.

I appreciate the effort and the skill that went into this, but anyone whos had dark souls experience probably doesn't have a hard time in the burg. This said, the video would be appealing to begginer audiences. That said, begginers probably don't know how to perfect dodge roll, could have trouble with backstabing, probably could use a shield. Claymore > Zweihander > Drakesword > Longsword.

You can't be blocking. Make sure you drop your shield before you attempt it.

hey anybody having trouble with that crazy looking guy with the club at about 8 minutes or so can (after they kill everybody else outside) can lure him out and on the stair case leading into the tower there is a broken part where you can jump down onto a platform and when he follows you he will not make the platform and fall to his death :)

Step 1: Glitch into Sen's Fortress w/o ringing bells, Step 2: Grab Lightning Spear. Done

so is havels which is more work but better overall defense and it comes with his fancy man armor

On every new character nowdays,i just ninja everything i can find.Zweihander,Flachion in blightown,,joining Nito for the gravelord sword and miracle,dragon head stone in ashlake.Wherever there is some kind of loot that my feeble character can use later or will use,i do it.Game becomes a cakewalk after the first time blind i tell ya,xD

Yes but it maxes out at +7 I believe. You can continue playing, but it doesn't get any harder nor do you get more souls at that point.

This definitely gets you a strong character from early on, but whether this is possible to do for most players is another question entirely... the backstab mechanism (i.e. the Havel bit) is never that cooperative for me.

considering the fact that the taurus demon is an optional boss, yes, you could complete the whole game without killing him.

You can always get the gravelord sword before Taurus Demon

My guess is that he wanted to remove enough equip burden to get the fastest roll.

since you killed oscar, the knight who gives you the estus, you missed out on his badass 100 phys block 80 mag block shield.

How to be strong before the Taurus Demon: Skip him, kill everything else in the game except Gwyn. Go back to the Burg. Enjoy your one shot.

zweihander very powerful in that stage? when isn't it powerful, I beat the game with that then plowed through NG+ with it again in hours felt like I cheated, what is stronger then it? the thing even makes Gwyn stumble with repeated blows
