I'm new to this game and just wanted to say you've created one of my favorite game OSTs of all time. Absolutely hooked.

When all you wanna do is harvest crops, but suddenly you're harvesting alien crystal meth.

"Hey Sir Ancestor, we know you're busy being mysterious and aloof in your venerable house, but the harvest is failing. Is there anything you can do to help us?" 'Hold my wine.'

The fact that the Miller wished for a miracle and that what he gets is a shouting star is rather ironic.

"The poor fool still stands ! Battered and broken as his precious mill !"

Dismas stood back to back with his companions. It was everywhere, those pulsing crystals, that indescribable color, that light that was not light. How long had they been fighting? Minutes, hours, days, years, eternity? He did not know. Enemies he had thought long dead and new horrors alike surrounded them. They had tried to push towards the mill, yet though it was always in sight with that strange glow, they never seemed to get closer. He could see their faces reflected in the crystals, but also something else, a horrible burning, unblinking, inhuman eye gazing at them from every facet. He could feel the force of it's gaze stripping away his very soul, it's whispers clawed at his sanity. The not-light hurt his eyes. A thousand arms reached towards the tiny band of broken men and women. Not even the grotesque countess had pushed his body and mind so far. Only once before had he faced something so....so....terrible? horrifying? words failed him. It was like the unspeakable thing in the Darkest Dungeon, the place he had vowed never to return to, a place that 4 entered and only 2 left. Only one other person alive had seen it and that person was standing next to him. Reynauld and he had sworn not to speak of what they had seen, save only to Lord Darkest himself. He had hoped that he would never again experience such a living nightmare, he had never dreamed that the thing in the dungeon was anything but one of a kind, after all, how can anything else like that exist? He was so very wrong. Yet, they were still here, he did not know where "here" was anymore, but they were still alive, in spite of that horrible eye that peered at them from a million dimensions, in spite of the heart that beat at the center of the world, in spite of the blood bubbling in the courtyard. A mighty blade swung, accompanied by the crack of a pistol and the swish of a knife. A noxious blast, thrown from a steady, gloved hand, erupted among the hordes of shambling horrors and the glowing crystals. A radiant flash of light, real light, illuminated them, accompanied by a muttered prayer and the thud of a mace. It was so very brief, but it was infinitely comforting to see real color, to feel warmth again, if only for a second. Then he saw it, it was barely anything, almost imperceptible, but during that flash, the eyes blinked, IT flinched, its gazed faltered. Dismas knew they could never win, such madness is beyond time, beyond space, beyond life and death, but it was not beyond pain. They had made the thing beneath the world hurt, they could make this thing hurt as well. They could not fathom the hateful scorn of the swirling stars, but a moment of valor shines brightest against a backdrop of despair and their flame will not die quietly.

DD seriously has some of the best soundtracks in the game industry.

This dlc is actually a warning about the nasty effects of meth

That moment when you realize that you're just killing one of the only capable opponents to match the Heart of Darkness, effectively helping it in the process.

2:05 gives me shivers every time! Just how did you capture that crystalline, cold, faceted feeling of the alien minerals into a music? It's simply amazing.

More epic music to listen to while my party slowly dies.

A brilliant confluence of skill and purpose!

The violins sound almost like the stars are racing above. I love it!!!!!

I just love the dissonance in this track. The synths that's normally reserved for sci-fi tracks being used together with the orchestral instruments that's so prominent in the Darkest Dungeon pretty much rams home the fact you're beating back what's in essence an alien invasion in a fantasy game. It's a breath of fresh air in a game that's set around medieval times.

I feel the intensity in the music, like I feel like every step I made is one step closer to either to victory or in the grave and I love it

The Mill hopelessly stood there, overshadowed by the tenebrous green hue of the comet. It wasn’t long until the clawing clutches of the comet’s callous energy infected the entire farmstead, transforming the unnerved farmhands into unnerving husks of their former selves, forever at the whim of the comet’s doing. The ostensible Miller was the last to descend into that disturbed state of delirium; trapped between two energies of equal eminence. The uncanny irony of this malignant harvest was perturbing at first, but as time went on my pity for the bygone Miller grew ever more tenuous; being replaced by an overpowering sense of contentment. For I knew that despite the cosmic nature of this malicious interloper, I had to return to that blasted heath.

2:05 when the staccato bit kicks in is my absolute favorite, this is an absolutely masterful composition.

Despite the whole dlc being inspired by Color out of Space, I think Miller in particular was inspired by Ashes. The way the ancestor talks about him coming to ask for help sounds really similar to the beginning of Ashes, and Miller’s reaction to a hero wearing his wife’s locket also reminds me of the main character finding out his loved one wasn’t actually dead. And also heroes say “Ashes to ashes” from time to time when fighting him, but maybe that’s just a coincidence.

The alien and cosmic feeling from this track is awesome!

Coming back to this piece I must say: *THE SLEEPER AWAKENS* 6:06

Team of four people - brave heroes? Mercenaries? Sell Swords? - have entered the Farmstead. The haunting blue light coming from the Mill is their compass. Every step on this dry and dead earth sounds like a beat of a war drum. The endless sea of husks that was in the past humans just like them, blocks their way. They charge head on and slash their way in. But, the Husks simply get up from the floor and march in their way mindlessly. Every step brings them closer to the Mill and the cries of the Miller. But then colours change and new but old nightmares show themself on the scene...

The poor miller , thrice a victim ...

That tension, man. So fckn good.

2:50 I ADORE this part of the song. The first time I faced against the miller I literally stopped playing when I heard this part to listen to the OST. Amasing work man!

"Behold the unquenchable thirst of the stars!" Great job Stuart, you really managed to capture the cosmic dread on this one, just like Siren battle and the Crimson Court tracks suggested intimistic, alluring, entrancing fights. I also love the unbridled, reckless, staccato-esque mood of this track, as opposed to the more calculated original score. The original DD score had a sense of constant impending doom, from what I heard of Color of Madness, it feels like a crusade to the stars turned awry, it's a pretty cool change of pace (no pun intended) that still manages to stay coherent with the base material. You must be tired of hearing this by now, but your music truly is inspiring.

Sadness, tension, hopelessness. So many feelings and expression from a single track. I love it. Awesome Track, as always.

God.. Even without playing you can feel the thrill and the rush of the game in this music. Another master piece! Good job!

2:05 - 2:30 is so good it deserves to be played by a symphony orchestra.

The idea that rather "making the most of a bad situation" you can elevate to being "hand of the divine, holding the gates of hell and purifying all unholy" is simply obsessive! And the music just brings so much to that feeling... breathtaking! P.S. "Bastion of Hope"- that`s the name and ideology that i have for my hamlet!

This hits different if you've read Lovecraft, beautiful piece

After finnaly getting off my lazy ass and reading some more H.P. Lovecraft stories, I just absolutely LOVE the work and effort you put into these tracks. I got this dlc when it first came out but I never read the story it was based on. As of a couple days ago I finished "The colour out of space" and by god, you named the damn song after the main area in the freaking story. The location that was affected by the meteorite in the story ends up being known by the locals as "The blasted heath." This is why you good sir, are a national treasure in my eyes.

It’s the mark of a truly great composer when the medium the music is created for is nigh-on essential for enjoying it, while the music is also worth listening to separate from that medium. The soundtrack to Darkest Dungeon is an excellent example of that concept. Absolutely amazing work Mr. Chatwood.

One time, I put this song on while I was out for a jog. The train ticket back home cost me 50 euros.

After 2 years, this music still vividly describing massive evil, following helpless fears in one's mind to me. True masterpiece.

MAN i remember i was playing this DLC for the first time in 2018 an i had my music volume super low, and then around 1:18 happened and i was like.... WAIT this sounds so unIQUE!! I had heard the other themes so often, and wile they stuck out a ton this captured a whole different thing, and so have all the other themes for this DLC. this popped up in my recomended and reminded me of tht, cant wait to hear more in DD2!

This is my favorite song of the whole soundtrack - perfectly captures so many emotions, especially dread and hopelessness. Amazing music!

I can't imagine how you just sit down and write an entire soundtrack that so perfectly captures the atmosphere in a game that has such varied themes. This isn't the first time one of your songs has been stuck in my head, but this is the current one for a few days now, especially the part between 1:40 and 2:40. It's the main reason I look forward to the Sleeper fight!

2:05 - Why I always leave out one enemy until this riff finishes. So god damn satisfying to listen to.

I love all the songs in the game but this one is on a different level. When I think of Darkest Dungeon this song comes to my mind even before the artstyle or the narration

Of all the Darkest Dungeon music you've done, I come back to this one the most. The frantic tempo, the unearthly synth, the mournful strings, the amount of WORK the percussion does to keep that energy. All of it comes together into one of my favorite pieces of all time. Been listening to the Darkest Dungeon soundtracks for years now. Love your work, Mr. Chatwood!!!! (And yes I’ve already bought the soundtrack for DD2 as well lol)

Hopeless despair, suicidal courage, and eldritch mysteries of the cosmos all wrapped up into one song. It’s beautiful, intense, mysterious, and powerful all at once. This quickly became a favorite of mine above all else and DD already has an amazing soundtrack. Well done!

I played through this, 120 hours, left behind maybe 50 "heroes". Sacrificed them without a single thought. Made the harsh and cold calls. At the last battle I chose and didn't look back. Now, when I listen to this, I got tears in my eyes, probably for those lost. Ridiculous.

This is not only the best song that came out of this DLC, it's also the best song of the whole game and one of my top-tier favorite BGM of all time, thank you so much, Mr. Chatwood, for creating such a masterpiece.

Love how it sounds similar to the older tracks in the game, but also different, really brings home the idea that the new enemy you are facing is as endless as the old one.

I AM THE BEGGINING AND THE END ITSELF. I AM MAAR'DHEM!" Fantastic piece. I love Darkest Dungeon and it's OST.

I like to listen to game soundtracks when I am doing basically anything. Other soundtracks give me feeling of determination, confidence, urge to fight even. But once a while youtube autoplays this. And every time I hear "The Blasted Heath" every bit of heroic determination current playlist gave me so far loosens it's grip, second by second. When violin at 2:54 comes in, I don't feel powerful anymore. Urge to fight drastically turns into urge to run. Run for my life. But at the same time it gives me sense of hopelessness, presence of danger I can't really fight or flight from. Moment of realisation about one's fragile mortality. You, sir, I hope you enjoyed every point of stress I just gained from your emotional masterpiece.

Hearing this track while fighting the sleeper has never made killing a boss feel so urgent. Definitely a top 3 track for me, i love the stoccato

The Abomination wondered if perhaps these demons just might greater than the one within him. The Antiquarian started pondering if maybe there indeed are treasures that aren't worth it, no matter what might lie at the never-ending tunnel. The Arbalest and Musketeer realize that if they just keep shooting, their comrades will bleed out, but if they tend to the wounded, those monsters will just pile up more. The Bounty Hunter starts to think that no amount of money and bounties is worth this endless madness. The Crusader starts believing that surely, there is no god in this unearthly purgatory. The Flagellant had never seen such a place bountiful with suffering, especially the Miller himself. The Grave Robber feels like every step forward is another step to her own tomb, yet it's as if she doesn't even move. Even the Hellion's nigh indomitable warrior's spirit is slowly being crushed by the onslaught. No matter how much he shoots, slices, and stabs, the Highwayman sees no end to the husks in sight. The Houndmaster realizes that law means nothing in such a place of chaotic madness, not even the laws of nature. The Jester tries as hard as he can to keep everyone's spirits high, but even he finds it hard to laugh in such a cold and draining place. The Leper, seeing those victims from the Farmstead, realizes that there might actually be fates worse and more painful than his own. In his thousands of campaigns, the Man-at-Arms still couldn't possibly have prepared for the Farmstead. In all his quests to try and satiate his lust for knowledge, the Occultist finally found a veil he was hesitant to peer behind. The Plague Doctor, a devout woman of science, was at a complete loss for words when it came to such a place devoid of any hint of logic. The Shieldbreaker finally found something more terrifying to her than her own nightmares could conjure. The Vestal, despite her constant work in aiding and healing her allies, knew that she wouldn't be able to keep up no matter what.

This new DLC is quickly becoming my favorite part of DD and the soundtrack is at least half the reason why. And this is from a game that already had an amazing soundtrack. Amazing work

This music and game changed my life. That is all I will say, this and "Town in Chaos" are my all-time favorite from you, amazing work!!!!
