Pigmentation around the mouth are for various reasons. Simple common thing which we see now in this season, dry season that is winter is dry skin. Extreme dryness around mouth can cause hyperpigmentation. Something called as seborrheic melanosis because of the dandruff which is on the scalp also causes hyperpigmentation around the mouth. There are other things like cosmetics, so some lipsticks and toothpastes with colored chemical in them can cause. So we need to first find our what are the underlying causes for the hyperpigmentation around the mouth. Sometimes even acne, recurrent acne can leave black marks around the mouth. So this is hormone induced or food induced. Accordingly know the underlying feature and treat it.
