@mr.smillee5098 , you are so right. Human memory is so fallible, and loves to "plug holes" with any old detail, real or not. And also, we have to account for lack of understanding; how many UFOs have people seen that were simply weather balloons or drones or other tech that they may not see in their daily lives, but those witnesses were CERTAIN of what they saw; they just didn't understand it.

Hey! I discovered your Channel with the trucker stories. I am a trucker, and one night I was pulling an over nighter driving through Louisiana and the highways were small and twisty and foggy, thick vegetation all around. Spooky. I searched for scary trucker stories. I tell other truckers about them too. We consume a ton of audio media, I think we all start to run out. But anyway I must have listened to them all. But now I'm getting into hiking and here we are again. I'm training and saving to do all 2200 miles of the Appalatian trail. I can do it. Let's get these stories out of the way early on 😂. Don't need them fresh in my mind when the time comes. But love your channel

Heh, I've solo hiked New Hampshire and I did come back with a few weird stories though nothing earth-shattering. The first few nights of sleeping alone in the woods were definitely the worst. The very first night, after the sun went down, I remember seeing all sorts of wisps and what looked like white lightning running along the ground. If you've ever seen the Flash TV show, it sort of looked like higher level speed force energy. I'd recently watched that show and I guess that's why I made the association in my head, but I really did see it for several minutes at least. To this day I have no idea what it was- could very well have to do with exhaustion, nervousness, or the altitude change. But all of those explanations seem pretty lame. A couple days later, I had a very vivid nightmare at Trapper John's cabin in which a native-american girl in a tattered cyan dress with long black hair over her eyes (sort of like the girl in The Ring) kept materializing in front of me and demanding "Jesus says you must die! Jesus says you must die!" which ties in to a couple previous events in my life that I don't have time to go into; raised deeply religious, had a nervous breakdown, spent some time in a weird catholic psych ward where the staff tried to control me by using the name of Jesus. That's the cliffnotes version, anyway. I was able to end the nightmare by stabbing her with a crucifix, which felt pretty badass at the time. I'd love to know if Trapper John's is known to be haunted or anything like that, I haven't looked it up. But today I assume that the dream was merely psychological; me trying to deal with past traumas and all that. I'll always remember the feeling I got when I summited Mt Washington, though it's very difficult to describe. It wasn't at all terrifying, but it was... majestic? Awe-inspiring, a deeply spiritual sort of feeling. There seems to be something up there much older and more powerful than humans, though barely even concerned with them. It's very easy to understand why a lot of indigenous tribes believed the Great Spirit lived up there. And I ended up getting caught out and hiking into the valley between that and Mt Madison at night; that was certainly an experience. Funnily enough, the story that unnerves me the most to this day is one that I don't think is really paranormal. Or, at least, the threat wasn't. I had gotten out of the forest, it was getting toward night and I found myself on one of those gravel backroads that sometimes intersects the trail. If you've been out there yourself you'll know what I'm talking about- There's a lot of old logging and mining roads that never got very developed and are seldom used these days, not really fit for cars to travel on and certainly not maintained to any real safety standard. I never really liked camping near people- there's always someone who snores, and you just never know what sort of weird people you'll end up sleeping next to. So I had intentionally gone past the last campsite and ended up going down this dirt road a ways looking for somewhere to throw down my tarp and sleeping bag. I found a really picturesque meadow which overlooking a small creek and bridge, with a forest on either side of it. Secluded but open, it really did seem idyllic right as the sun was going down. And then, it actually got dusky, and I don't know what came over me. I just abruptly got this feeling of pure and utter dread that I've only had a handful of times in my life. I can't explain it, I just somehow knew that I *really* didn't want to end up out there after dark. I packed up in a hurry and all but ran back up the path, turned onto the trailhead back into the forest and returned to the campsite I had past by earlier. As it happened, the place I bunked down was still close enough that I had some view of that meadow through the trees. And about half an hour later, after it was well and truly dark and I was still lying awake- I saw lights moving slowly up past the bridge and over that path I had almost camped beside. I don't think it was ghosts. And I have no way of knowing if, whether it was a car or people with headlamps, they would have done any harm to me. I just know I had an inexplicable feeling of dread and would have ran into something, or someone, out there completely alone if I hadn't got out when I did. Anyway. That's all I can remember as far as weird AT stories.

@Sir Elliott I get believable information from physical evidence. Actually seeing something for myself, or genuine photographic or video evidence. Word of mouth is not proof. If I told you I could fly like superman, would you believe me without proof? Probably not. There are no realistic pictures of any Bigfoot, dogmen, etc anywhere in existence. No bodies, bones etc. These are stories that have been passed down for ages and continue today. Until one is physically produced for the world to see, they are just stories.

@Sir Elliott ever notice 99% of these stories never give an exact location ( I don't want people going looking for it, for your saftey) and the story teller is usually anonymous. Why? Because they know they aren't being honest. It's also amusing how the vast majority of stories sound exactly alike. Even down to method of escape. Everyone can outrun whatever they see 🤣

Scanning the comments, I see the second story hit a nerve. I skipped passed part of it. I've worked with abused kids for decades, less lately. Burn out ... I tried to get help for a family with a few kids, one adopted. A social worker and school teacher wouldn't believe a college student. That was in 1988 ... the mother murdered the adopted 6 year old by force feeding her salt. It's still a raw nerve, I could have done more.

The most horrid monster in any of these stories is the Mother that treated her babies like garbage.

Your arms don't become "wary" (cautious or careful), they become WEARY (to grow tired). Sorry, I am that grammar Natzi.🥴

It's common for salties to swim up to 100km off shore. It's equally common for them to get into fights with sharks. Depending on the shark and species, sometimes the croc wins, sometimes the shark wins. Great whites love salties, they think they're delicious.

I’ve heard some of these before. Hasn’t stopped me from wondering the woods alone. A lot of these stories were used to keep kids out of the hills. Worse things I’ve ever seen is bears, coyotes, lynx cats. Wondered into a pot patch or two which is the most terrifying thing cause those guys will shoot you. Other than that these mountains aren’t anything to fear.
