I'm glad to see this game get positive reviews, I want more Darksiders' games!

Just for a little background on Airship Syndicate (I'm playing through BattleChasers right now and quite enjoying it by the way), it's the studio founded by Joe Madureira after his previous studio, Vigil Games, closed. Joe began as a comic artist and BattleChasers is one of his original creations. He was the creative director behind Darksiders, so it's natural that Airship Syndicate would be a good fit for the series. Gunfire Games, who developed Darksiders 3 (and the recent, awesome Remnant: From the Ashes) is also made up of ex-Vigil people, so I think they have a good sense of the series as well and I'd be happy with either studio continuing to make games for it.

I've really enjoyed the other Darksiders games so far, even if the 3rd one was the weakest of the bunch. Glad Genesis turned out to be another solid entry, definitely going to pick it up over the holidays.

I'm glad that they made this game have actual combat mechanics. I thought it was going to be a mobile game ported to consoles and pc

Great in depth review. Congratulations!!! Of all the reviews that I watched of Darksiders Genesis, you're the first one who used Insta-Switch function of characters in single mode effectively. It not only increases the fun but it also offers the wider possibilities you have by switching between characters quickly and effectively. Most reviewers have played single mode with just one character for the most part. Instaswitch option also makes a great case that all the four horseman would definitely enrich the whole experience giving 4× times options within game for single player mode. from comics to video games there is no a single Joe Mad thing I haven't enjoyed. Thanks for such an in depth review, definitely getting this when it comes to consoles.

While watching the video all I was thinking about was Battle chasers because of the graphic style and I'm glad you mentionned the game at the end. This developer is in my mind extremely talented and I really hope they get the chance to do more games. I want a battlechaser TWO please! Game was amazing and I can't wait to play Darksiders genesis in February.

What surprised me is that how i went into this gaming expecting little content.. this game is full of content and can easily be considered darksiders 4. Besides the isometric camera this is a pure darksiders game and i really wish we get a sequel for it.

If this game has drop in drop out COUCH CO OP (aka local co op) it will be a day 1 buy for us here. We have always loved the Darksider games and this Diablo arpg style looks to be a nice change for a game set in that universe. Hope it does well since so many "triple a" (Jim Sterling Voice) have been utter soulless crap and set on micro-transactions loot boxes or always online crap.

The soundtrack is pretty good if the video is anything to go by.

Great review. Love the Darksiders series but was worried this was going to be too much like Diablo and thus too multiplayer focused. So glad it's fine playing it solo and keeping the main gameplay of the series. Just got to wait for the PS4 release when hopefully those issues will be ironed out.

i really not good with twin stick shooter so i mainly use strife in keyboard and mouse, but when switching to war its become so awkward. so i end up spamming strife all the way lol still a splendid darksider game, a lot of fun. if only i can bring someone to co-op with me :/

great review mate! i had my eye on the game for over 6 months now and was hoping the game would be nice, and judging by what i saw and what you said it seems to be that way :) also to note the price is also fair in my opinion.

I'm going to enjoy playing this on Switch. You can't beat playing Darksiders on the go. So excited.

Absolutely agree with what you said at the beginning about diablo clones and at the end about thesr guys making more DS games. I haven't played a game that feels this amazing in years, it's a masterpiece,phenomenal gameplay, best music since nierA and co-op, insane how good it is. Too bad it came so late it will miss all the crappy "game of the year" awards to get more publicity.

I didn’t like the way Darksiders 3 looked. Both 1 and 2 were some of my favourite games, but Fury’s combat looked especially slow. I had no interest and I still don’t know if that was fair. This, on the other hand, has my attention. How is it that this, which looks completely different to 1 and 2, also looks similiar enough to interest me more than 3

I dunno how i feel about this yet. I love the series , though three slacked behind. My only. "ehs" with this is the Diablo camrea angle and now there are quest. Hmm indifferent i will have to play it.

i was hoping that while playing in single player mode computer ai would control the other horsemen similiar to those x-men legends games. so in order to get the full effect of the game i would basically need to find someone to play with? that sucks. however i will say i love the fact that they are going back to the original formula of the first darksiders and removed the rpg elements.

So Genesis has no impact or real connection to the main story? It's just a mission they had before the original game took place

Im going to give my opinions on the review as I watch it live and feel free to hate me for them, love me for them, or just ignore me and move on! First things first. You called the game a spinoff and said it could easily be darksiders 4 and that is not true. The game is not a spinoff and is a prequel to the events in the first game. Calling it "4" would throw a wrench in the whole chronological order thing. For the mosrt part I agree with everything said in the video. I will state the level design is awful in this game. You can tell it was made with the idea of playing on controller. 90% of the time you are walking in a diagonal line so on keyboard and mouse it gets annoying really fast. Not to mention when you switch from characters to mounts or just swap characters you have to unpress all you buttons then repress them for them to start working again. I love darksiders but this game is 6/10 at best. Need's a lot of improvements.

Weird, a Darksiders game that I'm not sure whether I want to play or not. Generally they are hit or miss.

So why did stadia get it first yet it's a Garbage system?

Looks like it lacks nuance. Strife seems to be just pointing at the enemies and holding down left click, with the occasional dodge when the poop hits the fan. The upgrades look uninspired, trickled, and boring. Mostly just, mo dmg, mo hp, mo drops. Combat and puzzle segments seem to be always seperated, and never merged, never geling well. Looks like "fight enemies in a flat arena", "now do simple puzzles on railways". Rinse repeat. Cores looked grindy in all the reviews I've checked so far... they should've let you level them by killing the type of monster they belonged to instead of making you hunt RNG drops in a non-mmo, non-competitive game. That would've been both less (not) random and more fun. Killing two birds with one stone. Overall, dull. Not a fan so far.

New darksiders looks good,however i noticed from your gameplay that most mechanics are just a copy and paste of previous games of the series,it feels to me like a safe game that was made for quick cash,nothing that took them too long to make nor too much effort.
