Oh I get it, this take place during or a few years before darksiders 1 and after the seventh seal was broken, Death was brought back after sacrificing himself in the well of souls.

Are these the "tale thus far" segments that appear when you reload a save? How often did you have to quit to make sure you view all these cutscenes?

Yes, those and a couple in game cutscenes that had the same style of visuals and talk over (like the middle one about death slaying the nephillim, this was after getting to the tree for the first time). And yeah, I had to quit a reload a lot to make sure I got them all. I even missed one originally and had to redo it (missed the Lilith one).

@@GameLoot I see. Thanks for the response. I'm thinking maybe there is one cutscene available for every Primary Quest that you start. Primary quests are: 1 "Find a way to save War" 2 "The Fire of the Mountain" 3 "The Tears of the Mountain" And so on How certain are you you got all of them?

Not really... he was only in Darksiders II at the end and only as a boss that you get a cutscene and one fight with. He is however in the first game a lot and he is a big player in this universe... but again as far as Darksiders II goes he is not a big part at all.

Samael is a Demon Lord/Prince, second only to the Dark One himself who rules over all of Hell... he is not some lowly embodiment of humanity's sins. You underestimate and insult his true power (to quote him; "With my powers restored I am like unto a god! I could suck the very marrow from your bones before you drew another breath!").

MR Game Loot, I am very confused with the story could you help me out a bit by any chance? Ok so in Darksiders 1, War is prematurely summoned by Abbadon and Azrael, abbadon gets killed by striga along with War and War is returned to the council. Then War asks to be sent back to restore the balance and find the culprit who summoned him so he is sent back but when he returns 10 years has already passed and all humanity has basically died and only demons and angels are left and the demons are clearly winning. Then we find out that some woman knew about Abbadons plans and managed to do something to him to turn him into the destroyer (I suspect this woman to be Lilith the creator of the nephilim but I am not sure). Then War rides out and ends up finally killing the destroyer but he is also killed, yet Uriel destroys the seal and he is brought back along with his 3 siblings. I get all that BUT, in darksiders 2 you are trying to resurrect humanity to clear Wars name to the council and you end up sacrificing the nephilim souls that Death kept by his side, in order to resurrect humanity, then the game ends with death being summoned just after the destroyers death. I get that, but doesn't that make no actual sense though? When does death resurrect humanity? It has to be after War is FIRST sent to earth because the humans were still alive at that point, so when he is killed by striga and sent to the council and 10 years pass, that has to be when Death resurrects the humans, but thats the whole thing. When you come back to earth a SECOND time as War there are still no humans about. So that means that he didn't resurrect the humans during those 10 years. So when the hell did he resurrect them then? Because after Death resurrects the humans he is then called to Earth with the seventh seal broken and we end up at Darksiders 1 ending. Did he even resurrect the humans then?? I am so confused

Yeah I can help ;) First it was 100 years that War was dead, resurrected, and imprisoned by the Council. That change to the info for your internal reasoning should help a lot (as 100 does seem like a very small window for all the stuff that is happening in that time). War asks the Watcher how long he had been gone and the Watcher says ~"About a century... just long enough for the mouth breathers to die off!" (that may not be a perfect quote but it was to that effect). Darksiders 2 takes place before War is sent back to Earth but ends while War is still on Earth. Takes a bit to understand but sometime near the end of while Death is traveling the realms trying to clear Wars name the Council sent War back to Earth to "Find the ones responsible.". Though we all know how that turned out :D To give a good idea of where the end of Darksiders 2 lands I would say Death must have sacrificed himself sometime around when War was tearing off Abandons wings :) So as for Humanity the sacrifice just happened so the results are right when the Horseman are falling to earth (and maybe the only ones who can hold the forces of each faction off to give Humanity the chance it needs to reclaim the Earth... or they could do the Four taking on their masters for the betrayal of War, who knows... could be interesting if they ever go forward with the main story arc).

True... the only thing I can think of was he was part of the group/action that broke it (but yeah that is 100% true... it was Uriel who broke it with the Armageddon Blade). Also I am sure Uriel did not take credit for it so most probably believe it was War... but even so it is still odd that they would have the Crowfather say that (also possibly they did it to make it easier for people who did not play the first game to grasp... who knows, either way good catch!).

Yeah its got that heavy WoW/Warhammer style for sure. I love them too... and they were okay sales wise just not as good as THQ needed in their final days just be bankruptcy (they had far too high of expectations for it). Luckily we are getting a Darksiders 3 this year ;)

It is from one of the Digital Wax trailers for Darksiders II... one is called "The Last Sermon" and the other is called "Last Salvation" (the one the image is from is "Last Salvation" I believe).

Well, Death gives his life for... something to do with his brother. Then the seals break and Death is back?

Ah okay. So Death does sacrifice himself (temporarily), but most importantly he sacrificed the Nephilim Souls that were bound to his chest to resurrect Humanity (thus, in Death's mind, erasing the crime that War was accused of). Also remember this takes place before the ending of Darksiders 1. The ending means that Death is probably "dead" (also being dead as we learned is not the end, the only way one loses ones self is if he/she were to pass through and be cleansed by the Well of Souls... and becasue he is a Horsemen his soul will not pass through the Land of the Dead after his physical form dies) but once Uriel and War broke the Seventh Seal it summoned, and in Deaths case resurrected, all four of the Horsemen (magic and all that... they are bound by powerful magic to the "Seventh Seal" and once it is broken no mater the state or location of the Horsemen they will be sent forth, a good example of this is the first game's ending where War was dead on the ground after having a blade run through his chest and once the seal was broken he got right back up). Let me know if that helps or if you are still fuzzy on anything!! I love me some Darksiders lore :D

Kevin: War is a prisoner for about a hundred years. During that time, Death seeks to prove his innocence of starting Armageddon early, or something along those lines.

Game Loot: Hm, better. Though, the game, with the well of souls seeming to appear differently from the first and some other stuff, felt a bit odd. In some ways, I sort of missed the first game. Think they went for too big without enough lore maybe.

These are lore re-caps (they play in the game when you are re-loading back into the game to refresh you on what just happened before you stopped playing to get you back into the story as you continue... this is not how the story is given to you during normal gameplay, well the motion cinematics are in the game but the stills are recaps).

Hi, thanks for your comment, looks like i didn't make myself clear enough ;) i know what you are saying. But when i played DS1 and DS2 i noticed that in DS1 they SHOW Charakters who build the story because of what they do and how they act. In DS2 they mostly just tell. And Death is far too much reduced to the errand boy. It's a pitty. Hope DS3 will be better.

Just wanted to be sure you were not judging based on this video is all ;) As for DSII... it was mostly a world building type game. The story was a side story to the one we already knew (so it felt less epic from the get go sadly... 3 will suffer from the same issue, old stories all leading to where we already have been). In any case I love Darksiders so I don't care how I get the lore... just give me MORE! :D

Zaori if your going that route, War was just as much of errand boy as Death. They both had to do something for someone or sonething.

Yeah I agree Crimson... but I think it is more of a necessity of gameplay rather then story (we need things to do and getting "quests" from new or old NPCs is one of the best ways to push that along and further the story). When you think about it almost all games have this (especially any open world type).

lol WAR IS GARRA????!!!!!!!! This guy really sucks at voice acting. Every time he plays a character they all sound the same. Damn how does he find work!? I like his voice, but damn, try to change your pitch at least.

You realize that the game director (or VO director) is who decides and dictates what voice they want for a role. Liam O'Brian is simply giving the creators what they are asking for (and he is amazing at deep epic voices). It may be true that he is limited to similar tones as War and Illidian but it seems he is rather unique in his tone that he gets a lot of work. Basically what you said makes little sense.
