BB Hood's dog is mortally terrified of her. Everything cutsey BB Hood does is an act to put people off guard. If you slow mo her animations you often catch a glimpse at how truly deranged she is. She's actually a complete psychopath. Her character ending is like the start of a slasher movie,with her as the killer on the loose.

Darkstalkers is such a gem, I really wish Capcom would've come back to this underrated fighter.

In one of the Darkstalkers Jp ports there was a secret character called Oboro Bishamon who is basically the good non-cursed version of Bishamon with its own moveset.

Donovan's little partner is called Anita. She is an war orphan ostracized by society for having paranormal gifts. She can move around objects with the powers of her mind and also read minds. However, she lost her abilities to have feelings due to severe trauma and her powers, always displaying a characteristic frown on her face in any situation. She also has a beheaded doll that she keeps really close as a memento of her dead mother. Donovan is her guardian and also foster father.

This is a crazy deep dive. This is like OG fighting game community content right here. Probably one of the most niche but still kind of popular series out there. It's been a LOOOOOOOONG time since we got a new Darkstalker and I would love a new one, especially if it stuck with the old-school 2D pixel art style.

The animations on these characters are absolutely amazing. Really never seen anything like it until skull girls came out. I know you weren't a fan of fishman... but if you look closely... he is actually constantly turning into various sea creatures in his moves.

Hood is actually a monster hunter, think like Dante from Devil May Cry, it's why that guy pays her in her win pose. She made guest appearances is many other fighting games, but they NEVER updated her graphics. So she ended up in games with 3D backgrounds and beautifully hand animated characters with her still looking blocky and blurry. Pyron is indeed A-Class, Ken. He's in fact the final boss of the first game. Fitting that a game about dark creatures would have a final boss based on the sun. The little girl with Donovan is Anita, a mysterious girl who survived a monster attack. She seems to be a very powerful psychic but very little is known about her.

I may have my lore wrong, but the demon baby thing during Jedah's segment is the Fetus of God, which I think Jedah was trying to birth as a new demon lord to rule over everything.

Hsien-Ko is a jiang-shi, or Chinese hopping vampire. The talisman on her hat is actually her transformed sister, and is meant to help her keep her sanity. Also, you should do a character draft for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. It's a Final Fantasy fighting game, but doesn't have super moves, so that would be a good one for a draft

I laughed when I heard you said "Stripper Kitty" before the intro. So, when Raptor went into Ultmiate Undead Mode, the first few bars of Bad played. Darkstalker is a great classic, whose characters have great backgrounds that are almost always tragic, yet fascinating. For example, Bishamon was a samurai that lived in a village where the demon armor and sword, Hannya and Kien, were kept sealed away, when an invading army attacked, in a desperate attempt to save his wife, he wore the armor, becoming its possessed vessel, forcing him in an endless hunt for blood and violence, first slaughtering the invading army and then his village, starting with his wife. There are many examples of this, and also really wholesome friendships born along the way, like Jon and Felicia. I suggest you take a look at the old 4 episode long anime from 1997, it was really good.

Funniest thing about Lord Raptor is his unrequited crush on Hsien-ko.

MAPS= Makai (demon realm) attack penguin squad Felicia leads an entire troupe of cat-girls, including her sister; they have a Vegas residency. Huitzil was built to kill dinosaurs. Pyron hates dinosaurs. BB is a mobster hit girl. Morrigan is generally broken as hell on game launch, being the postergirl for the franchise (and guest appearances) her balancing tends to be.... generous in the cheese department. She's also technically the queen of the faeries AND monsters/demons... or will be once she subsumes her dad's spirit. Ken is in luck as Pyron is hella strong. (former boss of the game) Lillith is Ken to Morrigan's evil Ryu. Anakaris often guest stars in other games as well. Beth has a potential edge here, but only just. For a "zoning" character, Lord Raptor hits like a haunted truck, and is one of the few chars that can deal with Morrigan's wall of cheese. Beth also has Jeda, who is a boss char and plays like it, and having Morrigan and him on the same team is some ridiculous power output. Ken has pretty clean counter with Pyron and Lord Raptor, so it's a pretty close race this time. Fun Fact: Morrigan was supposed to be a palette swap of Demitri ala Ken and Ryu. In a then rare move because most of the monsters were "american style" because Classic monsters, Capcom Japan passed their initial designs from famed artist Bengus to Capcom of America's Alex Jimenez for an Americanized design pass, and Alex: "So, I went over the designs and the only big change was to the female vampire" Juhnichi: "and?" Alex: "what about a succubus?" Juhnichi: "what's a succubus?" Alex: "a demon" Juhnichi: "we already have two demons, an Oni and a space demon" Alex: "It's a demon that sexes you to death" Juhnichi: ... Alex: :"Hello?" Juhnichi: "... let me talk to the art team" and the rest is history.

It's a real shame CapCom basically let the series die, as it was never as popular as their other titles eg. Street Fighter. Me and other people out there keep holding out hope for a new game someday, but sadly, due to CapCom not wanting to take risks on anything that isn't Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil or Monster Hunter, we most probably won't be getting a new game anytime soon 😞

Darkstalkers is sorta like a "halloween" version of street fighter 2, as the characters have their own "nationalities" and their own stages based on that: Sasquatch: Canada Huitzil: Mexico J. Talbain: Great Britain Bishamon: Japan Hsien-Ko: China Lord Raptor: Australia The list goes on. Most of the newer characters are from the demon world, tho. Like Jedah. Then there's Pyron, who's basically Capcom's version of Galactus.

Hey Ken, hey Beth. It was through Marvel vs. Capcom that I got to see the Darkstalkers characters. I'll admit, Felicia and Morrigan are some of my favorite characters until I saw Jon Talbain. I was so excited to see Jon take on Saberwulf in DB since they are both my favorites in their respective games. A lot of fun watching the reactions to each character, and looking forward to the next video.

As far as Vampire Savior goes, which is the most commonly played competitive game in the series, Kens team absolutely destroys Bethany's from a raw tier list perspective goes. Huitzil, Pyron and Donovan aren't in the standard version of that game, so can't be judged either positively or negatively, but Ken drafted 5 out 8 of the top half of the characters in VSAV. Lord Raptor, Sasquatch and Q-Bee are all at the very top of the list while Felicia and Bishamon are upper mid tier. Bethany rightly grabbed Jon Talbain as the remaining top Tier character that sits somewhere around Q-Bees level, and BB Hood is an upper mid tier. Funny enough Ken completely discounted Rikuo who is the other upper tier characters in exchange for Victor who is bottom two in strength. Its an older game so there were no balance patches and the tier list is mostly linear without many match up anomalies to create rock, paper, scissor match up triangles. That being said, the execution ceiling on this game is pretty absurd, so proficiency can make up a lot for on paper strength.

I highly recommend checking out the Blazeblue Cross Tag Battle interactions as they are some pretty interesting interactions including characters from Of course Blazblue but also Persona or even RWBY and overall I think yall would enjoy it!🌟

Huitzil is based off of a statue called a dogu, a figure made of clay by the ainu tribe of japan. They are basically the remainder of the original inhabitants of japan before people from mainland china invaded and had interracial relationships with the ainu, similar to how the people of mexico are the result of conquistadors having kinds with the aztecs, or how the peopme of modern england are the result of the saxon barbarian tribes conquering the island of britain 1000 years ago.

I love BB Hood's animations. They did a great job selling her sweet and innocent act but show how psychotic she is on the inside. You can even kind of see it in the dog as that dog seems terrified of her at times. He knows what she's about. Honestly though when you look at rating some characters are just better. Like Morrigan Jedah and Pyron are ridiculously powerful, but Felica isn't beyond having the superpower of making friends. Game wise though I do know in the original Sasquatch was really up there and the mummy Anakaris was as bottom as you can get. But that game was a little janky and Anakaris lacked some really basic mechanics other characters had. Although that doesn't mean you can't win with everyone just have to work harder for it.

Jedah, in a way, was supposed to be the S.I.N. of Darkstalkers (Pyron being the Bison). His goal was to create and nurture the next savior of the planet (Which you can see in the background of his stage). In otherwords: He was trying to create a God.

Anita is the small girl that always follows Donovan Baine around. She is 2'9' and 29 lbs. Anita carries an old doll that seems to be a memento of her mother. She had always been with Donovan ever since she was adopted by him from her orphanage. Because of her inhuman powers, she was shunned from society. This, coupled with witnessing her parents deaths, caused her to lose her emotions. She regained her emotions back as Donovan lost his humanity in the events of Night Warriors. She is also the probable ruler of humanity, which both Donovan and Jedah knows.

This is an interesting draft. I want to get Capcom Fighting Collection eventually simply for the historical value of the games that are being rereleased to physical from. Capcom hasn't really been able to leverage its less known IPs in good ways, leaving them to collect dust.

Some things to mention: Pyron is Galactus confirmed. Basically you missed the Lord Raptor bit about doing a "final concert" that included & affected him and his fans...with a bang. Not saying the S word. Also Raptor has been born in 1889 apparently cuz in his original concept he was supposed to be a WW1 ghoul soldier. Hsien-ko's sister Lei Lei is part of her charm yellow paper on her forehead... stopping her from going berserk. Also Raptor is called Zabel Zarock in Japanese. Also whenever B. B Hood attacks the dog either gets startled or scared. Also that Cool Hunting move you both missed with the soldier and the huntsman giving some covering fire. And Anita is a quiet girl with psychic powers who was shunned by her village until Donovan took her under his wing. Later years in one ending Donovan turned evil full vamp (with a Demitri headswap) and Anita, now much older looking tried to stop him...until cliffhanger. And Demitri's midnight bliss attack turns every opponent into a lady...and any lady into a more....suggestive looking lady. 😂 Also a jiangshi is a Chinese vampire/zombie that moves around by hopping. Like Qiqi from Genshin. And Q-Bee wants to find a way to save the Soul Bee race from extinction by finding males.

It remember right, I watched a Dark Stalkers retrospective done by Professor Thorgi that said the inspiration for the art style was a mix of classic Universal Horror films like Dracula and Frankenstein and the Wolf Man as well as...The Looney Toons. So that's why the special moves get crazy

Just to let you guys know Jedah is the main antagonist/villain of the Darkstalkers universe he is also one of the most powerful characters if not the most powerful character in the darkstalkers universe and the stage where the baby in the background is actually another demon realm that he created. Also Morrigan is the main protagonist of the darkstalkers universe and is another considered to be the most powerful character in darkstalkers and the ruler of the demon realm.

They both want a mcguffin to use it for what they believe is good by destroying others. The giant fetus is that. Oh and morrigan is the protagonist, demetri was supposed to be the protagonist but she took his spot. She is considered the strongest darkstalker with half her soul just imagined when she fuses back with Lilith. And demetri was the one who killed pyron absorbing his power making him as strong as half power morrigan. Jedah is considered in there ranks too

As a side note on the move show cases, this doesn't show everything, well it shows everything from the games in Darkstalkers Resurecction's collection. However those characters that got into cross-overs got new moves, namely Morrigan, Felicia, Anakaris, and Hsien-Ko; as well as upgrades to their old moves. Also of note is Demitri's Midnight Bliss (which fun internet history before it was called Rule 62 we used to call a male character turned into a woman Bliis'd after his move *which turns men into women and women into cosplay. )

You guys might really like to see The Legend of Spyro A New Beginning cutscenes, the story is really good but it gets better in The Legend of Spyro The Eternal Night, Legend Spyro is voiced by Elijah Wood and Ignitus is voiced by Gary Oldman, they and many other characters stay with the same voice actors. Plus, the music is beautiful and a masterpiece in the trilogy.

Morrigan is so powerful, she gets to be top tier in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Literally fists everyone from Hulk to Akuma. Kappa Seriously though. Her astral vision fly/unfly aerial soul fists is one of the most overpowered strategies in all of fighting games.

I had to pause and laugh when you mentioned Pyron eating planets and a good match for Morrigan. There is some odd trivia related to this character and...eating. In Morrigan's ending in the first game, maybe second (been a while) she actually eats Pyron. However for some reason the canonical conclusion *despite not being in any of the end credit scenes* is Demitri eats Pyron (additional one of the arcade only ports *prior to the recent anthology fighting game* has an opening where Jedah eats Pyron...yet the story in the third console game says despite Demitri eating Pyron he is still not a match for Morrigan...which gets worse for him as thanks to cross-overs continuing the story Morrigan's third game ending is canon *where she fuses with Lilith (who is one third of her original soul) and goes from A-class to S-class (debate on if she got the third part that Belial had sealed in himself before passing away).. So yeah Pyron gets eaten in three timelines despite basically being Galactus, and Morrigan is OP who restricts herself in combat to keep things fun for herself.

Oh yeah these were from the previous anthology game *not counting the current one which has a bunch of SF, Red Earth, and all the Darkstalkers games*, and these were from the game where many of us Darkstalkers fans concluded Capcom was jerking us around because they said *oh this didn't make enough money so we won't make a new game*...this was like the fifth or sixth anthology of the SAME games, ignoring how popular these characters are in cross-over games and the high sales of the art book and the about book that came out shortly before. Like just make a new game, anthologies don't sell as well because there are multiples of them, they are the same exact games over and over, and as time goes on they are now decades old. Capcom loves those figurine sales of the characters but sure is shy about making a game...granted Capcom is weird these days, for over a decade they've been self censoring games in a way that doesn't affect the adds of other games...heck Nintendo is putting out Bayonetta games now, and even then only really putting any major focus in monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Street Fighter; neglecting all their other IPs except to put out the occasional anthology or cross-over game. *Edit (so I am not spamming the comments LoL*: there is a four episode OVA Nightwarriors made back in the 1990s; not sure what the legal issues would be to react to it though, anime has hit or miss on youtube for reactions I've seen (the anime scenes from the Jon vs Sabrewulf deathbattle came from this series)...there is also an American cartoon many fans would like to forget was ever made as well...it butchered the character designs, backstories, powers, and the animation was wonky...which is made even funnier as you can tell it had to be edited and censored before airing in spots...that scene in Jon vs Sabrewulf where he looks like a cartoon grabbing food off a tree stump comes from this cartoon.
