The secret is that Maliketh has a crippling addiction to death-weed. As a public figure at the time, Maliketh needed to keep this highly illegal activity a secret, until one day the tarnished and crucible knights under Godfrey discovered Farum Azula, named after Malikeths favourite avatar character. Maliketh panicked, and to cover up his connection, shattered the place across the continent, summoned a tornado and a horde of dragons to finish the job. Unfortunately for him his DNA was found on a stray death dealer and he was exiled anyway. And that’s the deal with crumbling farum azula

The scariest goddamn moment in any souls game for me was realizing that there are Godwyn eyes EVERYWHERE in Farum Azula. Every goddamn root in the zone has those awful half-lidded fish eyes, always watching you...

I wonder if Godwyn's tumours being present in Farum can be explained by the timey-wimey shit... Or if there's any chance Farum Azula was still grounded at the time of Godwyn's Erdtree Burial?

@@hugostefaniu No. Just...no. This place is from" The time before the Erdtree" ,and it fell either before or because of Marika and Godfrey. Godwyn's death likely has something to do with death in general changing ( the Death Ritual Spear describing a " distant ressurection " the death priests were waiting for and such) ,but he came after the place fell. It's likely his effect goes beyond the Erdtree, in the same way the Sun and the Eclipse is somehow connected to his salvation and that of his fellow Soulless siblings. After all, the Beast skeletons bear the Sun Realm Shield.

Crumbling Farum Azula may once have been located on the ground in Dragonbarrow. There's a bridge there called Farum Greatbridge. Also there's the Bestial Sanctum which is clearly connected to the beastmen and contains Maliketh, who is later found in Farum Azula. Also it's called Dragonbarrow and it's where the most dragons are outside of Farum Azula.

I think another strong connection between CFA and Stormveil castle is the reappearance of both the knights and the birds in both places. Admittedly, the knights and the birds also show up in castle sol, so maybe they just like castles

CFA used to be part of the main continent, with the Wormfaces from Altus lining up with the ones from Azula. The architecture of the place you feed death roots to the Beast Clergyman is that of Azula, suggesting it was connecting Altus to Caelid and even Limgrave.
