So many skidding turns from base to final at the beginning of the video. That's bad mojo. Those F-104 pilots are good!

Thanks Tommy. Very scale looking and flying fighter jets. Good job on the pilot with the blown out tire.

Thank you, nick kennedy. And I totally agree, the guys from Red Bull are extraordinarily good at what they do. Cheers! 😁👍
@janmb4 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree! The pilot was Tim Stadler, a professional pilot flying for Red Bull. And the flight was even more impressive than the cutting in this particular video lets on. He took off (losing the tire), flew a slow lap inspecting the damage, retracted, flew a full flight, then did a normal landing prep and landed calmly :D Pretty darn cool-headed imo

Wonderful video! Pilot P-51 master landing ! Why did crash l-39 happen at 5:45?
@RCTommy4 жыл бұрын
Thank you😊 As far as I know, it crashed because of a super rare and catastrophic engine failure.
@supramaniac5024 жыл бұрын
Looked like a flame out of the the engine, in combination with being mid-4 point roll and at medium speed/low altitude at that exact moment. Just not enough time to get it right side up again...
@RCTommy4 жыл бұрын
supramaniac502, The official story is that the gas turbine disintegrated (unknown why) and cut power to the main (redundant) electronics system causing a totall loss of control.
@supramaniac5024 жыл бұрын
@@RCTommy I can see that. I'm a 100% electric pilot, but I have been around turbines for a while... Just saying what I saw, not being there in person. Thanks for the correction...
@philipclayberg49284 жыл бұрын
dmitry: I think it's called a "flame-out". In the slow-motion version, you can see the engine fire go out and then the jet goes into a dive and crashes.

Personally, I think the F 104 is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built. Just sitting on the tarmac in polished aluminum it looks like a rocket ship that could take you right to the moon, if you'd let it!

Ferocious Frankie with some very docile landings. Buttery smooth. And sincere condolences to the L-39 owner. Spectacular and unexpected. Btw, which plane(s) do you fly?
@RCTommy3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, silky smooth flying by Mr. Jan Berg. I fly a lot of different planes, including a Savex L-39 with a JetCat P-60SE (which is far too heavy for that airframe tbh), a VQ Twin Otter, the Freewing F-104 (90mm) Starfighter, a few different warbirds and of course my true and trusted EFlite Maule (a superb bush plane). The only reason why you don’t see me flying too often on this channel is simply due to a lack of a decent camera man (since that is my role for the most part). Cheers! Next season I’ll hopefully get my 2m Tony Nijhuis Vampire flying. Just ned a few hundred more hours of building first. 😊

The 262 looks like it had an engine out! Good save That flame out and inverted exploding splat was gut wrenching!! Why'd he lose control when it flamed out? That was just terrible. To bad, that was a lot of time and money. The paint scheme on the USAF F-104 was the paint of the target drone conversion, NQF-104 or something like that,wasn't it? Cool variant.
@RCTommy4 жыл бұрын
Haha, funny story about the 262: I used to own that very same model as seen in this video, and sometimes it actually did shut down one of two motors during takeoff (due to a bad battery at that time). I’m sure he just got lucky on that landing, miscalculating the where the edge of the runway was by a bit. It has seen worse though, I ended up losing radio signal far out and ended up "landing" it in the river next to our airfield... It made a great float plane though! 😂 When it comes to the L-39, the gas turbine had a major malfunction leading to what is belived to be shrapnell severing major power lines, thus rendering the flight controls useless. And I agree, the paint scheme on that big F-104 is somewhat unusual and very cool. Trond Hammerstad did a great job on that one, for sure. Cheers! 😎👍
