@@tcars01 At this moment in time, I don’t think he is. But he’s Klopp’s player and not FSG’s. That’s not how FSG want to spend their money. Hence, now that Klopp’s left they’ve reinstated the old infrastructure. Evey Liverpool supporter that I’ve corresponded with is pleased with this. At times, if you give a manger too much power and the key to the purse strings, they become like a kid in a sweet shop. Rumour has it, that Klopp was at loggerheads with both sporting directors. That’s why they left. But now they’re returning. Klopp’s replacement title, is head coach and not manager. Perhaps he can improve Nunez’s game. Moreover, Watkin’s is older and it’s only now he’s beginning to move up a level.

He wouldn't just be leaving Villa for Liverpool, or a big club on the up for a bigger one going who knows where, or the 4th best team for the 3rd best, he'd be leaving Emery, a proven world class coach who has made him better for Slot, a coach who has never managed at this level. At almost 29 that's a move that carries a lot of risks.

Because there's no guarantee that'll be a good move for him. Players like downing and benteke made that move and it didn't work for them. Other times, other circumstances. But he has something at Villa which is as good as it could be, Liverpool face great uncertainty, Klopp is a very tough act to follow. Things may be very different in a year

He's too old for the Liverpool model. Liverpool are far more likely to go for Gimenez of Feyenoord or Summerville of Leeds than Watkins. Watkins is quality but he's 5 years older than Gimenez and would cost more.

Nights at Villa Park in Europe are a lot different to Anfield. Don’t compare the two if you haven’t experienced it. I say that to a footballer or ex who hasn’t played for either club in Europe. You say third v fourth but there was a gulf in points 14 difference that’s 6 games. There is a huge difference in clubs. Look I am LFC fan and don’t believe the rumours. It won’t happen because Villa will want to much money and LFC need at least 4 really good signings so won’t spend all budget on Watkins. I’d like him but not happening. I’d go for Toney

I get the hype and as a Villa fan, you could not ask for a better team player and one who will continue to improve under Emery. But this doesn't feel like the right move for Liverpool regardless as they have so many talented forwards that may improve under a new direction, new system. WHy would he leave sunny Birmingham and move his family up North? He will stay and take his young family around Sutton Park and enjoy life in the Midlands. The Belfry is just a couple of miles up the road as well. Stay here, my son !

Arne Slot was chosen because he is most similar to Klopp in his style of football and because the players will like his charisma, so it will hopefully be less different. I get everything changed when David Moyes took over from Ferguson, but they were very different in the style of football they were used to playing and the culture of the club wasn't in a good place. The staff higher up at Liverpool are in place and Slot isn't even in charge of any transfers, only coaching the players available. Edwards is back in charge of squad building only with the coach not having the final say on transfers

I don’t care if Watkins is English, Brazilian, Argentinian, from Mars or the Moon. He’s not worth 100 million. Half at best. One season (and in a team that fell off slightly at the end) that finished up there does not make a 100 million pound player. I understand Villa did well last year but let’s be honest. They will more thank likely get knocked out in the group stages of the champions league, struggle to balance Europe and the league, they won’t qualify for the champions league next year AND it’s only a matter of time before they loose all their best players. They aren’t a big winning club like United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and City. The only reason they got top 4 was because United, Chelsea, Spurs and Newcastle all underperformed last year. Villa are a flash in the pan and Emery would leave tomorrow for a job at any of the clubs I mentioned. We’ve seen it all before with Brighton, Leicester, Southampton, Burnley, Sheffield United and the likes over performing for a year or 2. The only reason their best player Watkins might stay is because he’s too old to justify the big money to buy him. Imagine a player choosing Villa over United & Liverpool 🤣 United and Liverpool could put a bid in for any Villa player tomorrow and they’d most likely go on strike to force through a move. Gabby and Martin Keown are the worst pundits on talksport.

Aston Villa aren’t a big club, they won’t sustain the levels needed to stay where they are and they haven’t got huge bucks to spend and stay there especially with FFP. Anyone worth buying will leave in the next 2 years. A bad United and Chelsea are a much better prospect because we are proper clubs who’ve won stuff. The manager who turns United around and wins a league with them again will go down in history of football. Overachieving with a small club like Villa for a year or 2 is a stepping stone. I don’t understand how Villa fans are getting cocky it’s laughable. They are the new Brighton as they are overachieving. Sure they nearly bottled top 4 to an Underperforming Spurs side.

@@MADK34 You are clearly rattled 😂😂 When Liverpool, Bayern Munich etc has managerial vacancies, Emery just simply extended this Aston Villa contract until 2029, that’s 5 years whilst Bayern Munich had to do with Vincent Kompany, He is not interested in any other managerial job because the says there are ‘no limits’ to what he can achieve at a club of the stature of Aston Villa, in other words that implies the return of major titles, trophies and reestablishing the glory days to that historical club. Emery appreciates that Villa are a historical big club with big heritage and have a huge and loyal fan base. It’s laughable because you cannot recognise a properly run club that hasn’t been off-field financially doped to financial their sporting advantage like Man City and Chelsea. In the next few years Emery will show you how to run a club without being financially doped to complete for Champions League and League titles, I reiterate, he has told the fan base there is ‘no limits’ of what can be achieved at Aston Villa.

@@willmunda403 you firstly don’t understand who you support. Little old Villa, the last time yous won something the tv was only invented 😂 Nobody went in for Emery and that’s why he hasn’t left. The only reason I think they didn’t is he thrives more in a small club that push above their weight, rather than a top club like United where the pressures are a lot higher and u have to deliver every week. I just find it so funny that Villa fans think they have a hope at competing for league titles and getting in the champions league every year. All ur players worth buying will be gone in the next 2 years, you know it and everybody knows it. Steven Gerard was all the rage 2 years ago before Emery took over from him. You’s were going to push on with Gerard at the time. Emery will be gone as soon as he’s offered a job better than Villa and you know he will. You’s got knocked out of the third tier European competition by Olympiacos and you were well beaten. Even United were a mess last year and beat you twice and it meant nothing to us because use are just another nothing club. A bad United side won the FA Cup this year and since Ferguson left we have won more trophies than 6 generations of Villa fans have witnessed Villa winning. Even think about it FFP is designed for the top clubs like United to stay on top, United have massive revenue and that’s why we can spend huge money and get away with it. Villa will never be able to do that because yous don’t make enough revenue, even with the champions league this year, to constantly be pushing and getting better. Yous will be forced to sell and build like Brighton but the luck of buying players cheap and progressing runs out. Look at all the clubs I named and see where they are now. Their progression ran out. The only side that will push into the top 6 consistently are Newcastle because they have money to burn through like City. You need to be owned by massive massive massive money to get there and Villa aren’t. Yous are a decent mid table side and that’s all use will be. I have every confidence United will get back eventually and even when we’ve been bad since Fergie left, we’ve still been a top club, far better than u lot and I know even if we stay bad we’ll b better than u lot. Alongside Madrid we are the biggest clubs in world football.
