Decent overview of Villa’s recent fortunes. NSWE and Emery are a formidable partnership, and despite your title being a bit ‘clickbaity’, it’s not too far off the mark as many don’t realise the ambition, wealth and expertise at Aston Villa now.

Quick tip for ya mate. If you want to gain a consistent and growing following, I’d continue to make content about teams like Villa, Spurs, Newcastle and all of these teams that are trying to break the hold that Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool have on the league title scene. The fans of these clubs will flock to the content because it’s nice to see someone talking about their team, and neutrals will follow the content because it’s exciting to see these clubs begin to rise up through the table.

I'm not yet 60 but when I was in my teens Villa were the most decorated club in English football, add to that the fact that London apart no other UK city is close to the size of Birmingham. I watched that 2019 play off final in a local bar, it was packed with Villa fans, on the walk home I saw other Villa fans who'd clearly watched the game elsewhere, I didn't see any Derby fans. I mention this because I live 150 miles from Villa Park, if anybody ever gets this club competing for and winning trophies regularly we'll have no limits.

Villa reminds me of Spurs in a way. Two clubs that struggled as lower mid table teams for years. Both got better under new owners and even made it to an EFL cup final. Eventually they would finish higher and higher until they qualified for the UCL. Over those years many gems would leave like Grealish at Villa and Bale at Spurs. Could Villa like Spurs consistently qualify for the UCL?
@redx11x
@redx11x 23 күн бұрын
We cannot be compared to Spurs. Over the last ten years Spurs have been in the Champions league 4-5 times. That's shows a quality squad. Villa will never be able to compete financially with Spurs due to Spurs fan base and billion dollar stadium etc etc. What we do have is the best tactical manager in the league, if it wasn't for ffp and him receiving the backing to sign who he wants, then we can compete in the top 6.

Emery has done amazing things. It does seem like the end of the season the team lost form and I don’t know if that’s just playing so many games, injuries, squad depth or getting found out. But when Kamara got injured we seemed a lot more frail. Likewise Diego Carlos hasn’t been the most consistent player and I wouldn’t be against selling him with Mings coming back

Villa have flirted with the top places several times in recent decades but somehow failed to cross the line. Other clubs have done the same and Leicester even won the PL. So the question is whether it was just Villa's turn, or will they do what so many middling clubs have done, after defying the odds. I suspect that the whole structure of the PL, the demands of European qualification, and the FFP regulations, are designed to protect the big brands who attract the global audiences. If Villa can do it twice, then that will be the time to start believing that the PL is not a handicap race, for the benefit of the biggest brands.

I wish Villa well, we desperately need new teams to be successful in the premier league, but Emery one day in the next season or two will be fired. That is a fact. Only 3 or 4 managers in the premier league perform season in season out. Yes he has done a great job to date but when their league position drops out of the top four he'll be under serious pressure regardless of how he has performed in the past. The owners of clubs demand immediate and constant success. There are huge clubs with massive financial power putting massive pressure on Emery. He absolutely pulled it off this year, but he will not suddenly be a bad manager when other clubs pass them in the near future. Maybe he'll end up England manager?

Wasn’t meant as disrespect! The game is global and many don’t know the clubs outside the traditional top 6. That was the point of the video, to outline how big and historical Aston Villa are

This is deeply unfair assessment of Gerrard's stint. Yes, he "got the players he wanted", but his key signing (Diego Carlos, who was brought in to replace Tyrone Mings) injured his Achilles in his debut. Not to mention, Lucas Digne made it public after signing that he had not wanted to leave Everton. Everyone forgets that it was Gerrard, not Emery, who converted Watkins from a winger to a Centre-Forward.

@@hyro1376 When Gerrard was fired, Villa put a Caretaker manager in charge for one game. I forget who it was but they put Watkins out wide, and Villa got a good result. All you saw on the footy forums was Villa fans exclaiming that they'd been demanding Watkins to play in his natural wide position.

@@dylanparker130 great. That doesn't change the fact Watkins was playing as a striker at Brentford. It was not Gerrard who converted him into one

@@hyro1376 Well he was playing wide for Villa before Gerrard joined. Villa fans were constantly complaining that Gerrard was flogging a dead horse by putting Watkins upfront.

@@hyro1376 Watkins used to miss easy chance after easy chance under Gerrard. Fans hammered Gerrard for it. Emery takes over, Watkins starts scoring those chances, and everyone praises Emery. Reminiscent of the Toshack's tenure as Wales boss. Brought all the kids into the team, and they struggled to get results. Toshack's successor was the beneficiary.

Well good thing football goes behind the premier league. It’s an international sport. A lot of people don’t know how big Aston Villa are and how Emery turned them around

It's just the click bait that gets annoying. ' Scary truth" is for videos about secret paedophile rings not about a football team having a better than expected season - that happens and it's not scary.
