I think Disney should be knocking at Chris Avellone's door in this time of great need.

I remember reading some interviews with the developers who said that a big reason why they were able to introduce so many new ideas and develop the universe so much was because George Lucas and LucasArts were too busy working on Revenge of the Sith and all of its tie ins to worry about KotoR 2. So it's interesting how this game likely would have ended up very different if Lucas had been able to keep a closer eye on its development. And considering how they've pretty much ignored KotoR 2 and even actively tried to retcon it, I'm guessing that Lucas or LucasArts did not like the ideas it introduced.

My favorite character in StarWars. Period! She has so many layers, brings so many new things to the table. And her voiceacting is some of the best in games I have ever seen. I once did a playthough where I attempted to walk the grey, neutral line....and was heartbroken when she said that I had failed her!

Through my playthrough, I gathered that she wanted to manipulate me to become as strong as possible. Manipulate Nihilus and Sion to become weaker than I. She manipulated both sides of the spectrum so that I may kill Sion and Nihilus to protect the Republic and all who live in it. She wanted to save all life by undermining the two other sith lords. And hopefully, if she could destroy the force itself. Although I think she would have accepted death if she could not destroy the force. She would accept death if it meant Meetra was strong enough to kill her as well as deny the destruction of the force. In my opinion, she felt the death of the force was only a secondary objective. Or at least a long term primary one. To me, I think Kreia would have accepted that she might die before the force does, as long as Meetra was able to fix the mistakes of prior Jedi and hopefully push her teachings onto other Jedi, enlightening them for a better future.

Kill the exile, the force is no longer there to manipulate peoples lives in perpetual war among the stars, these star wars, if you will. Perhaps you were expecting some surprise, for me to reveal a secret that had eluded you, something that would change your perspective of events, shatter you to your core. There is no great revelation, no great secret. There is only you. Because most Star Wars films are filled with that, great surprises and twists. Such as Vader being Luke's father and of course KOTOR I's awesome plot twist. OMG....your PC is .....Revan. So Kreia's saying this leaves basically a gotcha on this game. I love this game. I think KOTOR II is one of Star Wars misunderstood games and it's like an orphan child game. It's not like any other Star Wars game or plot. The closest to it is Luke Skywalker's bitterness found in the Last Jedi and his saying that it's time for the Jedi to end. His bitterness almost echoes Kreia's bitterness about the Force and the failure of teachings. I think it's one of the reasons why people dislike The Last Jedi. There are other things....that people dislike about The Last Jedi, but one of the things is that it rings too philosophical and a lot of people don't like that....they want a clear cut good vs. evil and well KOTOR II and The Last Jedi is not that either.

Kreia/Darth Traya is such a brilliant character and remains one of the best and most complex star wars villains to this day along with Revan but like you said she wasn't truly evil much like her pupil they both turned to the dark side and Weren't afraid to sacrifice many people for their cause but it was necessary to prevent a greater evil that would save more lives than would be taken. Kreia was right though the Jedi teachings were wrong plus the ignorance that had develped within the order which was especially noticeable with Master Vrook who was extremely arrogant. You can see why Revan studied under her, it's said he learned from many Jedi masters but he always came back to her, there's no doubt her cryptic and mysterious nature attracted him with his hunger for knowledge. Her talents was her intelligence and how she was able to manipulate the exile into killing Nihilus and Sion after they betrayed her as well as use meetra to test the theory could force users survive without the force. I haven't read the Revan novelization but have looked into the key things that happened in it. If my memory serves me correctly; Lord Scourge had a vision that someone else was meant to kill the Sith emperor not Revan and stabbed Meetra in the back, killing her. I believe this was the result of lazy writing, she didn't deserve that kind of death after everything that happened in Kotor 2. There was a theory surrounding kreia suggesting that she may have actually been Master Arren Kae who was also Brianna/handmaidens mother. The Jedi council thought kreia died in the mandalorian wars and Arren kae did, what's your opinion on this theory?

I agree about the story of Meetra and KOTOR II in the Revan novel was brushed aside. That's why I hate that novel. It has some good moments but to disregard Kreia and the crew and the teachings is a disservice to what KOTOR II was. Instead, they paint Kreia as some random Sith and she really wasn't. She was far more complex. She was exiled from the Jedi and then exiled from the Sith and severed from the Force. Revan didn't want Meetra either and it was said the Malak wanted her killed but Revan let her go saying she was dead,so the Sith rejected Meetra at that point. However, I look at Revan letting Meetra go as a distraction of sorts so the Jedi would be more keyed on her than on his own conquest of the galaxy, Yet, when Meetra goes to the Jedi and they cast her out as well. So in that concept. Meetra and Kreia's relationship is similar in tone. Both are exiles from both sides. This makes Kreia's desire to teach the Exile a lot stronger because they are united from a common background even more so if you accept the Kreia is Arren Kae theory.

My thoughts about what you said at the end - Meetra's fate and ToR ignoring KotOR 2... yeah, it seems like it's a wasted opportunity. But I think, that Kreia's teachings had to be forgotten and the Jedi Order had to be rebuilt with the same, flawed Jedi Code. Because nearly 4000 years later, it is that same Jedi Code that causes the downfall of the Jedi Order and the rise of Palpatine. If Meetra actually built a new Jedi Order with a new, critically revised Jedi Code, than the whole Star Wars film saga wouldn't have happened. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but this makes it more acceptable for me. :D

An iconic character and perhaps even one of the best, well-written female characters in gaming history. That’s just my opinion on that. Nevertheless, her views on the Force, the philosophies of both the Jedi and Sith, as well as her own motive and teachings against the Force, still fascinates me. In one way, one can understand her perspective if they were put in her shoes, to try to save the galaxy from the Force’s grip and influence, and so forth. The Exile is also another iconic character, with everything she had undergone, but to also reject the Force to survive, and in some ways, be human. Shame the Jedi Council were too ignorant to try to understand her and what she did. Anyways, I’ll stop rambling on. xD Excellent video.

I'm re-playing this game right now. That is why I clicked on this video. Kreia is one of my favorite characters. Her character is so interesting. She introduced a new view of the Force that I never knew in the world of Star Wars.

Her motives are actually quite simple, if you break them down. Her ultimate goal was to end all the senseless bloodshed, because all of the Wars in Star Wars happen because of the Jedi and Sith. Always, one side attacks the other, killing billions in the process that have nothing to do with that religious feud, all in order to bring about some supposed balance that never, ever, in the entire history of Star Wars, was present. So Kreia intended for not only the Jedi and Sith to die permanently, but ultimately The Force itself, because it is the core reason as to why so many people died. Kreia was, really, the greatest champion of morality and humanism in the entirety of Star Wars.

I played the game Again after many years and wanted to do a Qui Gon style exile. Someone who was truly balance with the force and did the right thing despite if it was Light side or dark side. Build her as a Light side character but it was tough because I wabted to be opposed to kreya by prinsciple (because I already knew she was the villain) but found myself agreeing with her in almost every turn. One of the most well written characters in video game history imho.

The idea of destroying the force is fascinating, though I think would doom the galaxy overall, if the force is the life force which binds everything together in SW. It's really interesting to think of a Jedi Order not beholden to the force, operating under Kreia's ideas

But why did Kreia need to die then? She could continue with Mitra to spread own teachings. What does her death achieve in her goals?

Normally when you know someone is not who they say they are, you despise them in your next playthrough. But I love how the more you lay the game the more you love Kreia. You respect her more and more, you want to win her approval, and you wish you could side with her in the end. She is the greatest character in all of star wars in my opinion.

Kreia is without a doubt my favorite Star Wars character, by a wide margin. Revan has all the cool factor, but Kreia is such a deep, nuanced character that you can't help but love her, despite her Machiavellian schemes.

Great video my friend as always, first off the scenes with Kreia, Attris and Mical about force echoes was not shown in Darthycey's videos on Meetra Surik. With the Jedi Masters and the dialogue with Meetra and Kreia on Malachor V some were shown on his videos others were not. I believe Kreia is an evil witch who's intentions were revenge on Darth Nihilus, Sion and the Jedi who cast her out by using Meetra Surik. Separate issues that I have but we've talked about many times before, when know how the Jedi council felt about her in that time period because she was a wound in the force and a threat to the Jedi. Fast forward to the future a little bit and think about what the Jedi council during Yoda's time would have done, looking at Mace Windu I think he would have done the same to Meetra as Master Vrook and the others. I still don't believe that Yoda and Obi-Won Kenobi would have done the same, we also talked about acceptance but whether you think it's fan fiction of mine or because of Meetra's condition and probably crave energy like Nihilus. I will always think of her as a unique and intriguing Jedi compared to any other, I will never look at her as a monster but a powerful Jedi. In my own imagination I see Meetra Surik on Dagobah with Yoda trying to help her. George

Kreia's goal was to get rid of the endless Star *Wars* that Force kept pushing into the Galaxy. Plan A was to try to come up with a new kind of philosophy, train a new kind of Force user, but that kept being a failure until the Exile showed up. Plan B was to kill every Force sensitive in the Galaxy. The wars continue thousands of years afterwards so it would seem that Kreia failed, but perhaps her teachings echo still and there eventually will be peace.

I just beat kotor 2 for the first time and I came here to make sure I didn’t miss anything. With the exception of the krea wanting you to use her teachings for the new jedi order I found no great revelation

Just finished the Restored Content Mod yesterday as a Male Guardian/Jedi Master. Pretty sure this is the greatest game ever created.

What a truly impressive video. However, I do have my own interpretations: One, Kreia, though her rhetoric says otherwise, never *ever* wanted to kill the Force. Rather, she was just trying to restabilize it by way of eliminating the anomalies known as Darths Sion and Nihilus via her twisted manipulated ways and fearmongering, akin to a fever actually purging an ill body of muck and bacteria. Besides, killing the Force is obviously beyond her capabilities, so she's just doing some sort of wish fulfillment that will regardless end with victory, one way or another. Sounds senile, yes, but mostly on character. Two, there never were any "true Sith" lurking outside the galaxy... she just said that lie so to ensure that the Exile won't destabilize the galaxy due to their increasingly powerful yet all too potent Force bond, a bond that is all too similar to Revan's, who also left the galaxy, albeit due to unfounded paranoia of said "true Sith threat." Of course, even if there *was* a threat, it'll be from the likes of a Yuuzhan Vong expeditionary force, if not some other alien threat fighting the likes of, say, an ancient and then-inefficient Chiss faction, which will become the Chiss Ascendancy in millennia to come. And three, her ambitious wish of her teachings becoming the norm for the Jedi and the Sith after the events of KotOR II will be an assured thing no matter the cost and the outcome, since the old ways are now off-putting to the galaxy, its denizens, and the adherents of the beliefs themselves, and a new era has come once more, as things ought to be. A pity said teachings, as all others are, started to crumble come the Banite Sith era and onwards. In the end, it all comes to this: as a possible successor to Darth Traya in the far future said to two notable men of a certain era, "Everything I tell you is the truth/a lie."

Dude. Thanks for clearing this up. I finally understand. I didn't get it the first time, either. I still don't think Kreia is my favorite character ever, but at least now I understand her. This game is so deep, it's honestly just downright shameful it was cast under the rug.

I remember completing this after my last day of being a Year 7. It was truly an epic experience going through Trayus’s Academy and killing all of those Sith Marauders or whatever they were called. Kreia/ Darth Traya is truly a fascinating character within the Star Wars universe

I do agree with some of Kreias points. The Jedi of the old republic were fools & they were cowards. Redeemed Revan, the Exile, Bastila, and the other Jedi companions feel similar to Luke Skywalkers Jedi order. However Kreia is not 100% correct in her “philosophies”. It was annoying how she was scolding me when I was helping people(example: on Nar Shada). In a way she’s acting like the Jedi council. Holding back help for people. I understand that some good decisions have some negative consequences but that doesn’t mean we should be paranoid. I know this is just a story but still the Jedi should help people in need & Kreia was actually creating more problems(instead of fixing anything).

I like to believe that kreia failed to completely disillusion Meetra as she had hoped to, so she went all sith and tried to kill her (plan b) to create a ripple in the force and achieve her goals. She failed. And the jedi, while much more logical and better than before, still lived on. And while the first generation of jedi of meetra surik became a very good order, the teachings of the jedi remained at their core values and corrupted the next generation of jedi. Kreia was a hero who failed. No one could win as neither the sith nor the jedi were correctly reformed. The key and opposing values of the two groups always remained in the form of their codes and corrupted the souls of people.

One of Abeloth's many powers is the ability to create avatars. I suspect that Kreia is Mother's avatar, and Darth Traya is Abeloth's avatar.

I'll be honest, I've played KOTOR II for years, still do now regardless that I don't have mods with it, and I still could never fully grasp her motives or what she was after until now. I had an idea or two, true, but not the full picture.

Kotor2 forever changed my outlook on good and evil, especially on starwars. You see it again in ep3, the jedi are arrogant and stubborn, just like the sith. And a simple deed, no matter how well intended can have disasterous consequences. Some times doing what seems evil has a better outcome than doing what is considered good.

Kreia’s evil is that she is willing to kill, betray and deceive. A moral shortcut, to achieve the greater good as she saw it. Her evil is in her means. She is a villain, but the most real villain Star Wars has seen.

Kreia fortune telling fates of characters in the end is the only thing that bothers me. it's so out of character/lore i wonder if they only did it when they realised they wont have enough time to make a proper ending. I still get chills every time at the dantoiine scene when the music plays behind the amazing dialogue. yeah and swtor... for me the worst thing to happen to star wars.

Kreia truly is one of the best written and designed characters in Star Wars. It's a real shame that Disney has pretty much cut most of KOTOR 1 & 2 lore out... The bastards.

A villain doesn't have to be selfish and over-the-top evil to be a villain, just look at someone like Magneto. Incredibly sympathetic and understandable as to how he became who he is and the core of his motivation is to protect mutant kind. But I will never not call him a villain because of his methods, he will kill countless people (sometimes even mutants) to achieve his goals and part of why he does what he does is clearly out of revenge as well, his own personal revenge on the world for treating him so horribly for so long. Again understandable and even the core of his motivation is a good one but his methods and ruthlessness make him a villain nonetheless.

Kotor 2 is jsut the best stories period and kreia voice is jsut delightful.

This honestly what I felt Episode 8 Luke should have been. The disillusion, the severance of his own connection to the force; the prices were there. I only wish they were executed with better grace.

So this assessment of the force and the Jedi and sith is that up until this point the Jedi and sith both as a whole were insular, not just viewing the force with respect or as sacred but as monolithically central to everything, sinking themselves so deep into its currents that they become singularly focused on their religious tenants and completely dependent on the force for everything allowing their own minds, imaginations, and selves to be underdeveloped and wasted thus making them all indebted slaves to the patterns (will) of the force. But, even for Kreia, the force can be tolerated if those that can hear it willingly use it as a tool without giving into it complexly at all times- especially so as to become a one dimensional selfless puppet that will more or less stomp on everyone and everything else to follow the forces will (patterns) What I wonder about is whether or not the Jedi kept to those teachings or if they wavered over time and some (if not all) forgot about it by the time of the prequels? Was the prequel Jedi’s failure cut form the same cloth as the old sith wars Jedi? Or are they merely similar in that both were instances of complacency and dogma, but while the old Jedi decided to become blinded my mysticism the prequel Jedi made the mistake of …. What exactly? Because I got the impression that they were destroyed because they didn’t follow the will of the force- the very thing Kreia wanted… or was it not over reliance on the force but underuse of their practical skills and inability to accustomed for how out of touch with the republic they became…?

Darth Traya may be strong in some ways but makes her very weak in others. Awesome but Insane.

Kreia is incredibly important. She breaks all the rules, she's a Jedi who seeks conflict, and a Sith who abhors reckless slaughter. She broke the Sith's Rule of two by creating the Triumvirate, and wiped out the Jedi in order to rebuild them.

You know what I hate about all of this? The fact that the game is so mersmirizingly incredible and yet so bugged and unfinished that most videos about it are of theories, but the game lacks most evidence of most things amazing about it. It is so filled with conjecture EVEN with the restored content. The Malachor V whole portion makes NO sense because HOW everyone got separated just because the Ebon Hawk crashed. It is the gameplay dictating the plot, instead of the plot dictating the gameplay. Such a pity. I love this game. It made me love star wars. But the last part is just... NONSENSICAL.
