You are not alone my good sir. In fact I would love it if Dave faloni would personally take it upon himself to create a comic book adaptation for most of the highlights of the old Republic that were not done throughout knights of the old Republic 1 and 2. Even if he turns it into a claymation. Because Star Wars clone war saga all 6 seasons were pretty good because you got the contacts from the comics. Now if we can just get something with the old Republic or hell even the new high Republic. I just don't want the continuity of this beautiful masterpiece to be tarnished by human greed

Short answer: No. If you kill them, she’s pissed off. I think it’s pretty clear she wanted to show them what it was like to be stripped of the force, and they (who relied always on little but it) could not survive without. If you check the corpse to try and revive them after the fact, it says they are worse then dead. That being said, I have not yet watched the video…

In addition, when you consider her opinion and mission to rid the Galaxy of the Force, you might realize how terribly tragic the entire StarWars franchise is. We had 9 movies that are essentially clones of each other, and you can predict that the cycle will continue. The empire will fall apart, the republic will return, there will be another civil war, the empire will return, etc. All because the Force wills it, and the Galaxy must be balanced.

She presented the Jedi Masters with the exact same choice Meetra Surik had to make at malacor 5 when the mass shadow generator was activated. Give up the force and live, or hold onto the force and die. They chose the force and proved that they had become completely dependent on it and lacked the courage that Meetra had. The same courage that they condemned and exiled her for…arrogance indeed. The Jedi’s weakness is arrogance in their teaching and knowledge, the Sith’s weakness is arrogance in ones power and abilities. Traya exposed both the Sith and the Jedi. And got revenge for her betrayal. The last thing to pay would be the force itself. The death of the force was her final goal; which she was unable to achieve

Kreia isn't my "favorite sith" but philosphically, she's unrivaled... even among the jedi. She believed the Force enslaved all living things and wanted to free everyone from the force which would bring the idea of free will. In the Star Wars universe, there isn't really free will in the universal sense since the Force constantly tries to balance itself. If there is too much Light, darkness must come to keep things in check. And if there's absolute darkness, life is nonexistent. Kreia, to me, sees this as a paradox (for lack of a better word) and wants to bring free will throughout the galaxy.

She is by far the best written character in the franchise. She's the only character in the story that understands the force and its will drive the events of the galaxy and tells you this in a danm near 4th wall shattering epolge on malicore 5 at the end of the game where she basically condemns George Lucas without even being able to name him for creating a univers where jedi and sith exist. Yes and No. No. She wanted them to live in order to learn the Failings of the Jedi and become better as a result and pass on that new knowledge to the next Jedi. Yes. When they took the Truth and Condemned it, Kreia realized that nothing would change and the Jedi would continue to be corrupted so she decided to give them One Final Lesson. The Path of the Exile. This led to them being stripped from The Force and as a result died due to their over reliance of it.

I don't believe her intention leaned towards killing them or not, more just stripping them of the force like how they would do to the exile had kreia not stopped them. And they being lessons of hubrice and arrogance in the game decided that death was prefferebable to life without the force.

Question for 100% Star Wars. What would you say is Kreia's character flaw? All great characters go through something, a flaw they have to overcome, and I see so many people always talk about how smart and amazing Kreia is, and while I 100% agree, I always wonder what is her flaw. What does she overcome in KOTOR 2? Is her flaw that she can't see that the thing she hated, the force always trying to balance itself no matter how many lives are lost and trying to kill it so people are free from it, is what is ironically causing the force to do all this "genocide." That in going against it's will by using the dark side, she is unknowingly contributing to the force needing to correct itself and thus sacrifice countless lives, while if people simply didn't use the dark side and allowed balance to happen, then such "genocide" from the force wouldn't happen? Is her flaw that she can't see how she contributes to the problem she wants to destroy?
@100StarWars

@@100StarWars That would make a lot of sense. She accepts that she cannot be "saved" and that it's too late for her, however she can accomplish her goal more or less through Meetra Surik. It's why whatever Meetra chooses to do she is ok with in the canon ending, because she knows the future is safe with Meetra and she can die peacefully knowing that.
@Jallorn
@Jallorn Ай бұрын
I would say that her flaw is that she is blind to an aspect of the nature of the Force. She's so caught up in seeing the Force as an entity with a will of its own, and having gone through trying to serve it, trying to bend it to her will, and ultimately hating it and seeking to destroy it, that she's overlooked the Force's nature as the connections between living things, the bonds between people. She can't see the value of diverse perspectives, of cooperative, or even competitive-yet-collaborative, growth. You see it in her xenophobia towards the non-humans in the party, from her distaste for and inability to sense the droids and her inability to hear Bao-Dur's thoughts to how she uses Hanhar. For all her wisdom, and she has plenty, she lacks humility and openness to the experiences of others. She doesn't listen, she passes judgement.

I don't think Kreia wanted to kill them either. She foreshadows, I think, through her little chat with Atton on the Telos Citadel Station about what a Jedi is without The Force. Her initial plan was to show the Jedi and Sith their flaws, treat The Force differently and try to improve. Sadly this got her betrayed by the very people who refused to take in her teachings.

Amazing and fascinating video my friend as always. As you know I first learned about Kreia from Darthycey's videos and sorry again and of course from your videos. I did see Kreia as a villain in the beginning, manipulating and causing pain to others but I wouldn't compare her to Emperor Palpatine. I was little confused when you said she drained the force out of the Jedi Masters when she killed them because I thought only Darth Nihilus had the ability of force drain? I agree with you that Kreia didn't kill the Masters intentionally, that she was trying to save the Jedi Exile. Your also right that the Masters were arrogant, stubborn and narrow minded for not listening to Meetra Surik and passing judgment on her like that. When I first watched your video on Meetra Surik back in 2017 I said to you that if Meetra had gone before the Jedi Council during the Clone Wars era that Masters Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mace Windu wouldn't have been so harsh on her. @@100StarWars What you mean is the way that she did it. There are many ways to cut one off from the Force. In my headcanon for instance, the Jedi Masters threatened to strip Surik of his Force connection with intentions to kill. Nihilus cut everyone off from the Force. It turns out that there is a difference between absorbing Force energy and leeching the life of others. Vrook said something about leeching the life of others is because he desperately wanted to see Surik beyond dead or otherwise humiliated in such a cruel way. If anyone fell to the Dark Side, then it would be Vrook, or at least in some ways. Or perhaps he is a neutral Force user, just like Revan.

Kreia's main goal was that she wanted the force to die, she came to the conclusion that the force had a will and it's will ultimately caused all the wars and suffering in the galaxy. The exile had a kind of ability, the "wound" as mentioned wich feeds on the force. The jedi masters explain that in the end. So if you join the darkside in the game and choose to stay at the academy essentially the exile will train new students to become wounds in the force (the jedi also mention that) and that was Kreia's ultimate agenda. Why she was so contradictory and otherwise hypocritical is the biggest mystery about her. Ultimately it didn't matter what you choose weather it be a bad or good choice she had a lecture for it. Kreia had her own teachings that otherwise conflict with both ideologies, the sith didn't like her and nether did the jedi. She never did quote a single sith lesson or their code.

Kreia wanted a full reset. She saw the flaws of the jedi teachings and used a drastic measure to stop these flaws from being repeated, after all peaceful solutions were out of option. As she says herself at one point - she wanted to see them defeated, not necessarily murdered. She wanted them to see the error of their ways. And she knew that if the Exile chooses to continue the jedi way then there's a huge chance that at least some of her teachings will be included to the future jedi dogmas, making the universe a better place. Still, love that moment where a couple of wise and powerful masters are completely outclassed by Kreia's mastery of the force. This is what Palpatine should've been in the third movie, never liked that a random Mace Windu can match Palpatine, even if from a storywriting perspective it's not a bad idea

Palpatine in combat should have been a complete force of nature that only Yoda could stand a small chance of fighting against, like we saw in the original trilogy- we watched Luke overpower Vader (almost falling to the dark side in the process) and becoming one of the most powerful jedi knights in history (no one else was able to stand against Vader and live) only to see him completely at Palpatine's mercy, since the Emperor used the Force in a way the audience never saw before. In general I agree with Infernow comment, Palpatine probably could win with Force powers even when Vapaad turned out to be something he can't win against in sword combat, but have forseen Anakin coming to be a witness. People often forget that Palpatine's future sight abilities are unrivaled in the galaxy, probably 85% accurate or more.

The jedi chose death with they drained the exile from the force, refused to listen & ignited their sabers. But i think its possible she gave them choice knowing she will have to kill them if they do not accept. And its not for the sake of being evil just more of a necessary thing to do in that moment from her perspective. Also you can see where she made her mind up to kill them when she said “you will not harm her, you will not harm her ever again.” At least this is how I perceived it to be. Honestly though I had to sit and think on this cause im trying to see it from Kreia’s perspective and not my own. Thanks for the video Luke! 💜

Just rewatched that scene and oh man, still gives me chills all these years later I appreciate that KOTOR 2 acknowledge that the death of an entire planet is super traumatizing, especially for people who are literally connected to the universe and life. In the new movies an entire STAR SYSTEM was destroyed and not a single force user(or any other person who might have had family or friends in that sector) reacts in any way. Its the equivalent of couple nukes dropping in a populated city and nobody gives a shit. In a new hope they at least have Obi Wan and Lea react, even though Lea gets over her home getting vaporized pretty fast. Since the Star Wars money machine has no sign of slowing down, I am really hoping somebody does something with the post-war-PTSD concept If they give it to somebody with a clear vision, I think the post episode 9 universe can still produce some interesting stories (the reason I don't dislike The Last Jedi is because they at least tried to do something like that, it's just they have no clear vision and goal, also I don't think Disney would let someone to do that on the big screen, but with the SW series, there is hope)

From what I remember and felt I believe she wants purpose in all things. if change or compromise furthers ones purpose then she considers it a necessity. she has changed much in her life and she believes for the better. she loathes those that don't change like the jedi. she saw how mira grew after disconnecting herself from the forces and almost idolised her. something that kiera could not yet do. kiera gave those 3 jedi masters the choice to follow mitra's path so they could grow and find purpose but they could not shake their belief system of the jedi order as the brainwashing with their existence could not be shaken/changed. they died from it. kiera wishes she could lose her powers and be cut off as mitra did until she found out it was from fear/hatred and wanting to survive that she cut herself off from the force and not a genuine desire to be free from the force and grow from that experience. akin to a new game+ mode where you keep your knowledge but start from scratch. Kiera sees it as being reborn and followed mira to learn how it was achieved. Kiera is neither sith nor jedi. neither good or bad. she's done bad things even abhorrent things but she never stopped growing as a being, learning from her mistakes and success. she would make the perfect grey jedi. always growing/adapting and not being restricted but single trains of thoights/beliefs from the jedi or sith. thankyou if you read all that.

I have a feeling that the process of being stripped from the force is like a tug of war between the caster and receiver where the force user can resist said process but the price for failing to resist is deadly where in your attempt to become one again with the force the ability to seperate the force from the user is indistinguishable and the caster actually inadvertadly rips them out of their body with the force and they die. That is why they were reffered to as life less Because it's not even natural death life was taken from their body in its entirety of their own ignorance and blind struggle its a technical in verse meaning and a double meaning to the philosophy of the jedi and kreia

This actually reminds me of another of Kreia’s quotes at the beginning of the game right after Peragus. “Pub, like so many Jedi; you hear but do not listen. I honestly believed the reason why kriea wanted to force dead or deafened was because the true sith emperor a man who used the force to destroy an entire planet to become immortal must be deeply connected to the force and that by taking away that connection or deafening it would weaken him. I think by this point it was a win win situation for Kreia. Her plan was to groom The Exile to be the killing blow to the force, should she fall in their final confrontation on Malachor V. Should Kreia be the one to fall, then the Jedi have a fresh, clean start under one who was under her tutelage, thus free of the previous Council's hubris and arrogance. I think she intended a worse fate for the Jedi Masters, however.

Did she murder them, or did she simply strip them of the Force? The Exile made a choice to turn away from the Force. The Jedi depended on it and wholly embraced it. When it was stripped from them so quickly, the shock drained them completely. They felt what all those beings on Katarr felt, what the Exile felt, what all the echoes in the Force were caused by. Every war, every murder, every transgression, it was directed straight into them in that moment. And they died for it.

They died because they couldn't let go of the Force, even when it was being ripped away from them. That's what Kreia did, she ripped the Force from them, hoping they might live without it. Unlike the Exile who proved it was possible to give up the Force and live, even if you were previously deeply connected to it, the Master's could not make such a choice.

No, she didn't want to kill them. She only killed them because they threatened to undo everything the Exile had accomplished and was about to accomplished. Because they had learned nothing. They were so close to learning what the Exile learned... and then reverted back to being blind Jedi. Kreia's goal was so much more than just luring them to Dantooine. She, ideally, wished for the Jedi Masters to turn away from the Force willingly, just like the Exile. Failing that, she would have settled for the Masters to see that the Exile and Kreia had been right about what they had done and were about to do. But none of that happened. They self-righteously held onto their flawed beliefs instead of abandoning what were clearly half-baked ideas, their aggression dooming them.

Personally I think that she didn't car whether they lived or died. I think she gave the the same choice Meetra faced when she was on Malachor. As they stated they weren't the ones who stripped Meetra of her powers. And Kreia explains why meters lived and why she gave up her power when faced with that choice. And the fact that the media made no attempt to understand was infuriating and so she instead forced them to make that decision themselves. And if they lived then there was a chance that they could understand what she saw was the truth. Earlier in the game the same moment when she explains what happened to Meetra she explains that Atton was lucky because he could survive where others who felt the force could not because of their unwillingness to let go. So I think she knew they would probably die but I'm not sure it was relevant to her intent.

This is possibly a dumb question but its honest and i think interesting to discuss (atleast for me) I was i think 12 or 13 when Revenge of the Sith came out, and i remember during the movie discovering that senator palpatine was the sith emperor from the OT and first two prequels. Now as an adult i look back and it seems obvious the entire time that palpatine was the emperor. When i watch the phantom menace its plain as day due to the nose/voice, although Ian McDiarmid def worked to make the two characters sound somewhat different through cadence/tone. My question is for the old SW heads who saw the OT in theaters and then watched the first two prequels, did you know who the emperor was? Did everyone always know it was eventually going to be palpatine? Or was there an era in which everyone was making theories and guesses as to HIS true identity? Was there a time when we all thought senator palpatine was a good guy? What was that like to then find out he was the emperor? Were your minds blown like mine was when i was a kid or did you already know?

To be honest I wasn't entirely sure. Your view of what she said at the last moment before draining the force from the three Jedi masters does seem valid. I hadn't quite thought about it like that. I always did believe she was coming from a place of goodness perhaps unlike Nihilus and Sion. (You could maybe make a case for them being tragic villains). But I couldn't quite explain it other than maybe holding onto a hope (that the living master's would concede) which a rational person would write off as being for naught/in vain. Not necessarily in a pessimistic or despondent way, just simply overlook it, because if you look at the kind of people the Jedi masters had become by that point, it's fairly obvious that there's no way they're ever really going to change their ways of seeing things. I am a subscriber to the "hooray for stupidity" notion about the three Jedi masters, basically mocking them. That said ...The way Kreia went about things, to me, made me unsure if she was even fully self-aware, or perhaps wonder if she is simply unpleasable and a liar who doesn't see she has maybe twisted her desire for the Jedi to learn with her desire for revenge against her former apprentices. I confess, I see a bit of myself in how Meetra is portrayed elsewhere as "difficult to read perhaps because she doesn't completely trust herself". I tend to fall into that albeit for different reasons than her. The flaw of this is that you might miss gestures of good intent as much as cues of bad. However, in the way you have put it, finally I can find the how and why of what goodness remains of her, where I couldn't before.

Kreia seems to have the same contempt for the Jedi masters as she had for Sion. When she met with Sion on Peragus she told him: "To have fallen so far and learned nothing, that is your failing." She could have said the same or something similar to the Jedi masters: "To have risen so high and learned nothing, that is your failing.", although this would have been too much on the nose, and her final monologue to the masters is flawless as is. She had given them a fair chance for redemption by listening to the Exile/Meetra and learn from her, but they chose to go on with business as usual. Kreia knew this wasn't wisdom, this was apathy and clinging on to beliefs for the sake of holding on to them. ("Revan maybe didn't betray the Jedi, a sacrifice resembles a betrayal to the ignorant mind. To stay true to yourself you sometimes have to let go of your convictions.") Kreia was one of my favourite homies, and in my first playthrough I was devastated that I had to battle her to death, frantically seeking for the dialogue option to redeem her and let her live. Her 'burial' at Malachore V didn't satisfy me either, I wanted to build her a tomb on Korriban, and to order to the Sith to treat her with the utmost respect. To see her die broke my heart.

It's very hard to say. In one light I agree with you based on some of the dialog she did seem like she more so wanted the jedi see that their teachings were wrong and that she was write then to actually kill them. But then on malachore when she's talking during the final battle it seems like she did want them to die along with the sith. The sith for betraying her. And the jedi for casting her out. On the grand scheme of things it almost seemed like she wanted both the jedi and the sith lords to die so that there would be a balance and could be a new beginning which was also why she wanted you to kill her too. That and she wanted to break you and for you to fall to the Darkside as well. She also mentions that she hates the force and how it seems to control everything. Overall there are many ways things can be interpreted and perceived. She was definitely an interesting character

However, now what I think happens is she shows them what the exile encountered, and that's the echo where there is no force and instead of choosing to cut themselves off of the force to live, they choose to stick to their beliefs and die, because they'd rather be dead then live in a world without the force

Her dialogue immediately beforehand makes it clear to me that she's giving them a choice. I believe she has zero faith that they would survive it, given how they have repeatedly displayed their inability to comprehend Mitra's choice. She later says that No One had ever made that choice before Mitra. Had they listened or merely not chosen to harm Mitra I don't think she would have done it. She was staying out of it until she had to step in. And then using a force bond/wound technique she simulated what Mitra experienced and they predictably chose death. That being said I believe whole heartedly that she wanted them out of the way one way or another. Because they do represent the old guard. If you kill them all beforehand she's displeased not that you did so, but that you had the wrong reasons. That you'd learned nothing. You're just like any other Sith, and have failed her. She states in that route that, they basically had to be removed, but that she wanted to conquer them with her teachings. So, even had they not provoked her then, she likely would have done something to insure that only the Exile remained to rebuild the order.

Disney's greatest failing was not learning from the expanded universe. Kreia is quite possibly the best-written character in all of Star Wars. I certainly think she thought they deserved to die, but she wanted them to die knowing that their teachings were a failure, as they thought hers were. She would have hated the "trust in the living force" Jedi of the prequels like Qui-gon Jinn, and wouldn't have hesitated to kill them. The conversation they had with Meetra in the enclave was her "last chance" for them. I like the idea that in her "good side", she wanted the Order to have a new beginning. If you look at the exile and all her jedi party members, they all turned away from the traditional path of the force in one way or another. Mira and Atton lowkey hated the jedi of the wars, Visas saw deepest into both sides of the force, Mira felt the planetary energy of the force firsthand. Kreia even had a bit of pride in her voice when predicting your group's future.

My reason for saying this is at the end of the game before you battle Kreia, you can say "you used me" and she responds yes, and one of the reasons is "so the last of the jedi could be found and killed" the same with Atris so "her corrupt teachings could end before they spread."
