Yup, battles, music and even UI sounds can really improve a game so much. I can just hear the clinging sound from Med2 when you make a attack move with the music hyping you up on the battle overview and the loading screen. Todays total wars really dont have that anymore. Really unmemoriable.

I love how some of the volleys are uneven too, it’s like real men are shooting instead of robots. It’s like something out of a sharpe novel, just a big rolling crash

How good is darthmod empire compared to Fall of the samurai. I love the chaos of the gunpowder era. FOTS is the only gunpowder total war game i played and i love it but it feels very small scale and i have never been too interested in Japanese history. Empire’s scale is just damn crazy. I heard the vanilla game is one of the worst total war but with darthmod its one of the best.

the AI in this game is fundamentally broken. you can see even in this video that it's not capable of forming a simple line of battle. darthmod covers this up mostly with spectacle and a few tweaks to musket range. the only mod where i've seen an actual improvement with battle behaviour is Imperial Destroyer. but the mod maker there had to remove basically every buggy feature in the game, which it turns out is a lot of them.

@@abdirahman8111 In fairness to the generals of the time, it was not so simple. The lack of rifled weapons and the use of round shot meant rifles were inaccurate after about 50 yards. Muskets of the era were essentially shotguns that has only one pellet loaded. Also muskets of the 1700s had no sights, bar one post at the end of the barrel. Fighting in formation like this, and firing in mass, was the only way to hit targets with any consistency, and even then it would only be a handful of hits at a time. This is part of why the American Civil War became so deadly. These tactics merged with increased technology in both rifles and artillery, making every shot much more accurate. The Civil War would be more along the lines of “target practice” like you said lol.

Once you understand the ballistics of smoothbored muskets it starts to make much more sense.

@@Clone72491 i got darthmod as well but the smoke in my game is transparent. i got the latest version, aum additional units and aum graphic mod but again when the soldiers shoot the smoke is only a few and is transparent
