From the wikipage: The Sawtooth is a machine in Horizon Zero Dawn. It is a medium-sized COMBAT Class machine, one of the first known machines of this class. It was developed by the artificial intelligence (AI) HEPHAESTUS as a graduation in its efforts to PROTECT Zero Dawn terraforming machines from human PREDATION. A Sawtooth and a Ravager being able to growl makes perfect sense. It is an intimidating sound.

@@scratchy996 Even Rost have a dubious past, he killed a lot of people for revenge and etc.. The only male character in the entire game that seems to be decent, a legit good person, that's the guy we rescue right at the intro of the game. People can say whatever they want about "diversity", mainstream media indeed objectified women, the white male is usually the protagonist, etc.. Ok, but they also depicted the same white male in a evil role, the same sexualized female also had less sexualized roles, etc.. It's silly, but I understand why some people feels this necessity of being "represented"... But goddamn, do it in a more subtle way, it is really that hard? When they force things up, it is insulting for both the audience who are not attached to these "ideals" and also for the people who wants representation. Even Tomb Raider of all things, it is poorly written in comparison to Horizon, but at least TR presents stereotypes performing multiple roles, good/evil females and males alike. When they force the issue, it's basically a scenario were fanaticism is used to fight fanaticism, it makes no logical sense. I glad there is a game that finally presented a good female protagonist, but the fact everything else is so fanatical... It kinda hurts the experience a little bit. Too on the nose, blatantly... It's an insult for our intelligence

There was nothing being forced down my throat, i just saw it as a regular narrative with good and evil characters and couldnt have cared less about their gender. So, just check to see if it isnt you who is thinking through this too much. @RRRRRRRRR33
@RRRRRRRRR33 3 жыл бұрын
@@gustavobitencourt8200 All the major villains in this game are male, this is a simple fact, even the AI is male. The DLC for example, when you finish that story arc and banish the evil AI, guess what, a female AI takes over. Zero subtly, another dumb example, the sun king: He looks like a decent person at first, but then out of nowhere he hits on Aloy like a construction worker. It's a completely pointless moment, the guy can’t be a respectful king from beginning to end? That's not his archetype? This kind of biased writing is clear for everyone to see. And imo, this is a fanatical behavior because the intention is to highlight the female characters by antagonizing everything else. What kind of twisted concept is that? It’s so exaggerated, Elisabet Sobeck is more sanctified than Jesus and Buddha combined, she doesn't have a single setback in the entire plot, a saint from beginning to the end. The game is decently written, nothing extraordinary but it sure is above average compared to the usual sandbox trash. But this biased depiction of protagonists and antagonists is something childish, to say the least. If you want a simple allusion, old mythologies like the own Greek folklore that this game blatantly “copied”… they depicted women as purely evil, the whole thing about Pandora opening the prohibited box, Hera antagonizing the children of Zeus and etc… But this is a 2700+ years old tale lol For a writer in the 2010s trying to enact “revenge” on an obsolete and superannuated myth… by repeating the same themes without any kind of subtlety, they are basically walking backwards, we are supposed to be better than a underdeveloped civilization. 4000 years writing stories and we will repeat the "sex war" over and over again, such a waste

My one problem with this vid was at sin 20 where you said aloy could kill a previously bullet impervious machine with a bow. These machines were made after the fall of humans by project zero horizon with the intent that they would make the world able to live in again by emitting oxygen and depositing the seeds of trees and plants. They were not made for fighting, except for thunderjaws which exist to kill possibly reawkoned corruptors. Corruptors were the only machine involved in humanitys downfall, and you can note that their outer hull is very damage resistant. only fire can damage it well and expose its weak points.

+Alex And Thunder Technically scrappers break apart machines and recycle them, it's why their mouth's are shaped like that, but yeah, Thunderbird's, Thunderjaw's, Longlegs, Watchers, Ravagers, and some others appear to have been made to protect the machines. And yes, the previous statement is correct, for example, Metal Devils, by far the largest and likely most powerful of the three peacekeepers (the other two being Corrupted and Deathbringers), were completely unsalvageable after the thousand years and are only found in ruin. In addition to this, the first encountered Deathbringer was immobile and far weaker those encountered since. The small amount of machines encountered proves that many of them may have just eroded beyond use in the the hundreds of years, and likely none of them could have been nearly as powerful as they once were.

SPOILERS AHEAD.... Though if you're watching this video you probably don't care. 3:32 That's wrong. The Faro virus that wiped out humanity was made up of other machines like the Deathbringers. The vast majority of the machines you fight in this game were made by GAIA, after the Old ones die. Sure a bow may not do the deed as effective as it seems to, but they aren't the same machines regardless. 13:00 Just guessing, When the first humans were born, they were taught English (hence why they speak it) by the AI parents in the Cradles. In other words, the glyphs may be based on some language that does exist, I don't know. 13:30 Yeah, that was pretty bad. 14:51 He kept her alive because Dervahl loved her. You know this because Sun-King Avad talks about it at the end. Sure it's a shitty way to treat someone you love, but people do shitty things. 15:44 Not true. He was also jealous that Ersa wanted Avad and not him. 16:57 It was given that name by the Zero Dawn project. All the parts are named after Greek gods. 17:50 While definitely plot convenient, those were the only files that weren't corrupt. The automated system that retrieves them says as much. 20:14 Two problems, One, in the old times, there were a hell of a lot more than one Deathbringers at a time. Two, they also had the Titans, the big ass frozen machines you see in the mountains. If i recall correctly they acted as mobile machine constructors as well as killing machines. 21:56 As Sylens explains, he can hijack into focuses. That's what he does to talk to Aloy. But the elimination of the network means that the Eclipse can't talk. 25:12 This is just bugging me it's Helis like Heel( of your foot) then iss. 26:09 It's the only name she had though. It's not like GAIA had any knowledge of the name Aloy 26:46 Hence the unforseen catastrophe. HADES only knows how to destroy, and has no knowledge that the current world was a success, and it doesn't care. So once it's free, it does the only thing it can. 32:54 It's technically been 542,000 years. A voiceover at some point says that Elizabet wast that many years late for her appointment. In other words. Extra ridiculous. Sorry, but nitpicking breeds nitpicking.

JM they weren’t there for thousands of years. If memory serves Logs in the All Mother facility near the game’s end reveal its been like 300 years since the adolescents inside were released. I don’t want to be verbose with lore but to my understanding the whole Horizon project had a long time where there was no life on earth. after that terraforming began while humans were being cultivated from stored zygotes. In the various bunkers people were taught a limited spectrum of information bc Ted Faro’s whack ass deleted the data file tied to re-educating the restored population. eventually those folks had to leave when resources were depleted, being loosed into the world without the skills or technology they were anticipated to have. Bc that they regressed into tribal societies.

To be fair, a lot of these "sins" are quite easily explained by the story. Also about the focus, in the year 2060 they had machines that could self replicate and use biomass as fuel. I don't think it would be so far fetched for a machine that magnetically attaches to your temple to be able to interface with your neural network and affect images around you, or have some form of power source that lasts through the ages.
@matchesburn
@matchesburn 5 жыл бұрын
@Daenon Janis "I don't think it would be so far fetched for a machine that magnetically attaches to your temple" I do... Your cranium is not ferritic. In fact your skull/brain/blood are diamagnetic. Meaning that when applied to a magnetic field they are repelled by the magnetic forces. So, if anything, creating a magnetic field that strong would force the device off your body. ...But, hey, I'm not a fan of Horizon: Zero Dawn because I passed middle school level science courses and realize shit writing when I see it. Also, the game itself never happens because EMP works on the robots and humanity just NEMPs the ionosphere and Ted Faro faces the next decade in a courtroom before he even begins to face his jail sentence. And that's the only way Horizon: Zero Dawn works as a game - you ignore basic science and take plot contrivances as reasoning. This is how we get shit entertainment, people. To the point where people actually think that a thousand year old headset would still be working and powered and able to be used by anyone by MAGNETICALLY ATTACHING IT TO THEIR SKULL SOMEHOW despite their own phone having a passcode on it to prevent anyone from casually picking it up and doing anything with it it (and rarely lasting more than a few years of use without something killing it and a few days without a charge). I guess if I was willfully that moronic I would clap at Horizon: Zero Dawn as entertainment akin to a parent jingling keys in front of their infants, too. And, worse yet, people will defend this garbage writing because they no longer utilize critical thinking and accept "it makes sense because the story tells you it makes sense" as justification. I used to think that the humans of Horizon: Zero Dawn were dumb, but no. I realize that the humans here in the real world, of today, are by far much more dumb. Say what you will about humanity of HZD - they may have killed themselves and been able to prevent it and simply chose not to (because shit writing), but at least they were able to create such robotics in the first place.

@Blueblackdragon "Emps didn't work because they recreate and repair faster than you can launch the next emp. End you would basically emp yourself and make yourself vulnerable." EMP didn't work because the shit-tier writers didn't think of it. Also, no. EMPs would kill the robots of the swarm and if they were "repairing" and recreating faster than an NEMP (which can cover entire continents) can kill them, the Earth would've been conquered in days or weeks, not ~16 months like we see. If an NEMP was used over Australia before any of the Faro swarm left the continent, the war would've been over right then and there. (And it took time for this to happen, Faro was stalling and trying to prevent it and Elizabeth just went full "OH GOD, WE'RE ALREADY DEAD!" mode, like a moron.) Also, no again. EMP has zero effects on human bodies. And, being the ones launching the nuclear EMP you have the benefit of knowing WHEN it will occur and putting any sensitive equipment or supplies in faraday caging. Shit plot filled with plotholes is shit and filled with plotholes, Please realize this.

Striders are agricultural machines created by the life-creating AI to save this world. Corruptors and death bringers are war machines that came in the thousands. 3:35 well they weren't fighting THOSE machines. those machines you are talking about weren't even intended for combat purposes originally. Also the reason why humanity lost the war to machines is because they could infinitely recreate and use all life as fuel, something none of the machines in this game, even the 2 types that WERE originally designed as killer robots could do until the very end of the game because the ones fought up until that point were too damaged to use those capabilities. even then though more than the corruptors and deathbringers, it was the GIANT metal robots you see dead on the mountains in this game and never actually fight that did most of the damage to humanity in the past.

How humans survived against the equivalent of bears, lions, etc.. if they can't really hurt or compete with them? It's not like cavemen made weapons of bone that could pierce the hide of animals that are just as resistant, that's illogical, one denies the other. And with other technologies like magnetic field manipulations, metal bending, generation of heat and cold energies, etc... humans figured out all that and they still live like cavemen? It makes no sense, simple as it is. The game gives vague explanations to why and how humanity went that way, why the world look that way, etc.. but these are weak justifications. Rost has been watching Aloy the whole time. 5. The hologram of Elizabet was given to those with the other focuses from "hades". 6. The corruptor has always had the ability to " bend other machines to its will". It was part of the original design. 7. Silens is directly linked to HER focus. He knows how to dial into specific focuses. 8. (I missed a couple of your errors). Silens just said he copied the entire contents of her focus. He most likely also downloaded it to his own. 9. Genetic memory theory was clearly employed here. "Gaya" was counting on some of that inborn nature. 10. You must posed the "product of your environment" theory, you then say it should have been expected that humans would kill each other regardless of whether they have the ancient knowledge or not. 11. Gaya needs the spire too. 12. You don't fully understand the nuance of this story. This is the most nitpick filled "everything wrong with" video I've seen yet. That moment when someone points out the Nora can't read or write English so Aloy reading the BOW tag was BS, and it makes you suddenly realise: she wasn't reading it, she just realised that those three symbols put together mean "bow", hence the questioning tone. It’s only as smart as its programming, and high school physics that describes planet movement is considerably easier to program than an algorithm for deciphering an unknown language. No such algorithm exists at this time, evidenced by the large number of writing systems we still don’t understand: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undeciphered_writing_systems . I doubt anything short of some sort of super-intelligence will ever be up to the task. I would say it’s implausible that a consumer electronics device would have such capability even 40 years from now...

Aloy had the Focus for more than a decade, it wouldn't be so crazy to think that she "taught" the focus to decipher the glyphs she can actually read, since it is connected to her brain. Anyways, at the end of the day, it's science fiction, and the focus is just an excuse to have a videogame UI integrated into the world and the story
@hanna-writes
@hanna-writes 3 жыл бұрын
@@LCfreeze The problem with those writing systems, though, is that they generally represent languages that have either died out or evolved beyond recognition. Deciphering them isn't just about figuring out which symbols represent which phonemes--those phonemes must form words, and those words must carry meaning and fit into a larger syntactical unit. The humans of HZD have only existed for about 700 years, and they were taught English before being released into the wild. The glyphs in the game, therefore, represent English. The computer would only have to be smart enough to decode unknown writing systems representing known languages, taking into account that phonemes might be represented differently. Still a bit of a stretch, maybe, but not nearly as much as deciphering an unknown writing system representing an unknown language.

In the final mission when you fight a complete one with just your bow is pretty difficult, and the old ones had to take on hundreds of them at the same time, so I think them getting overwhelmed despite their weaponry is justified, and that's without mentioning how they can reproduce with ludacris speed getting shat out of gigantic hentai robots the size of mountains, or their advanced machine learning allowing them to go into each fight with more knowledge of their enemy than the one before.
