Trev considers himself lucky as he takes his daily walk up onto Dartmoor for a spectacular and scenic circular walk around Rowtor and West Mill Tor.
Whilst the CoVid-19 lockdown is in place, we are limited to where we can go from our doorstep, well, I took a little longer walk than usual this week and ventured to the edge of Dartmoor. To be honest, I saw less people than I would usually on the closer walks, and didn't have to touch a single gate.
This video was filmed on a Panasonic HC-VX1 ( amzn.to/3dAhXQ6 )
Summit or Nothing is a great hiking channel, with Trev and friends documenting their conquests and outdoors adventures of hiking, mountain hiking and wild camping in some of the UK's most beautiful National Parks. So SUBSCRIBE now to keep up to date with our hiking vlog!

Interesting to see someone else a bit careful about touching gates. I take disposable gloves to pull latches etc. Just getting from Okey to Moorgate would puff me out (bit older than you 😁) so I drive to the area then walk out from there. Really enjoyed this video. Lovely Dartmoor at it’s best.

Really nice video Trev, interestingly since this lock down I have mapped out 13 routes to wild camp from Brecon, Snowdownia and Dartmoor being 5 of them, have to say some are a bit optimistic with distance and elevation, funny thing is I have never done this in 22yrs of wild camping so goes to show that boredom can be productive equally I have sourced all of my dehydrated food through online shopping so ready to go now. Awesome Hike Trev … Thanks for sharing … man that looks a lovely spot you have moved to … and that South / North Dartmoor journey is a terrific idea cant wait to see the video... lets hope this darn stay at home thing is lifted soon. We are slowly getting back to some normality here in Michigan... Golfing and fishing has resumed with social distancing rules. The Camping and major trails are still shut till July :( but that gives me a chance to get some new stuff on order (Backpack) so theres that! :D … hope you and the family are keeping well ATB Dave Mc

Trev there is no laid down maximum of an hour for exercise so enjoy the moor. As you say you can’t get much more isolated than out there. I live on the South Moor and can walk from my door to places like Ugborough Becon, Hangershell Rock, Erme Pound, and part of the two moors way. Missing not being able to go wild camping at the moment but until then content with limited walking on such a magnificent landscape steeped in history

A S.O.N. vid is always a treat Trev and this is no exception. I could strangle you in a jealous rage over having that 3 miles from your front door though. You walking home across Dartmoor sounds like a winner to me, I'd be all over that! Some questions though mate if I may 1) That part of Dartmoor always intimidates me with the purple 'danger area' legends on the OS maps. What's the crack there? Does the lockdown mean it's safer than ever now? 2) Did you go up there without a pack/water of any kind, or did you just dump it with the tripod and camera every time you did a shot? and 3) how are those legs so pale after the sunniest April on record? 😉 Thanks for this though mate, was just the tonic. Keep on walking. Rich.
@SummitOrNothing
@SummitOrNothing 4 жыл бұрын
Haha! Some good questions and good observation about the legs, Rich! They are so pale they seem to reflecting the sun this year lol. I always check the range times before I head up into the range areas. You can find them easy enough on line. I'm not sure if the army is in lock down, so wouldn't just assume that they are not about. I did go without a pack and water this time. I kind of just left the house for a walk and decided to get up to the moor. If I went any deeper I would have taken a pack for sure. Hi trev not sure what the laws are about going out down your way but here in East anglia we can now go out for longer walks than a hr..i have rang our local police station and was told by them directly that I could go out for longer day walks as long as I was only stopping for a short period of time for lunch or snack break and that I wasn't taking the micky and driving long distances so maybe something you could check up on?? Also a little tip to overcome the gate issue we are all facing is to find a stick and use that instead works wonders and better to be safe than sorry..atb marty b
@SummitOrNothing
@SummitOrNothing 4 жыл бұрын
Great advice, cheers Marty. I have been climbing any gates without using my hands (always hinge side to limit any damage to the gate) but luckily, this walk had none, so that was good. Someone did actually point me in the direction of the current legislation yesterday and yeah, it seems that longer walks are fine so long as we are not gathering or loitering, so that's good to hear. Makes a lot more sense than everyone flocking to the local park! Hope you are keeping safe and well. All the best! .
