Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I’ve got a similar problem with a similar truck. Watching it made me realize what an involved process it was. I’ll have to defer it until I can disable the truck for an few days.

yeah this is a big job alright. if you're going to pick a part three different times in a three month period for about four hours each time I still never got out of a dash complete now my existing - has three cracks all the way to the windshield. I finally went to pick a part wire cutters in a partner and cut one out of truck that still took two to three hours it's not a fun job. I have a 99 Suburban in the top of my - does not come off like a shown in the video here. so it's a lengthy process trying to get this - out of the Suburban. hard part also was trying to find a Suburban that wasnt cracked.

After being quoted $800 (only reason I even looked to have someone else do it was because I realized after getting started how long it was gonna take) I have decided to do this with my 01 GMC Yukon tomorrow... Gonna be fun! 🙄 Wtf ever happened to just replacing it through the glovebox hole?!...

@@FakeLegGreg About 4 hours now and I'm at the point of removing the bolts from the engine compartment. Some of these things are a pain to get to! On the upside I'm getting a chance to simply and rewire the stereo. Also removing the old OnStar components.

@@FakeLegGreg Finally got it done! Also, I broke the dash cap in the process 😢 and they're apparently really hard to find in decent condition that don't break taking them off the donor vehicle. Project for another day since for now it is drivable. Thank you SO MUCH for the help! UNTIL THE NEXT REPAIR!

How did you remove the dash cover? Isn’t it riveted to the metal?

It is riveted through the plastic of the dash cover to the metal. However, the plastic had cracked off so the the dash cover just lifted off. It should slide off toward the back of the cab. Thanks for asking.

How long did it take you to remove the disk total.

I worked on this casually for a week. I also had the camera running while working so I had to mess with that some. If I had to do it fast, it could be done on a weekend with the knowledge in these videos. Thanks for watching.
