I just got mine. I use it with Linux (Kubuntu 22.04) on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 9th gen. Pros: - It really is softer on the eyes - The frontlight, brightness and contrast are adjustable from the screen buttons - It does display colors - The lag is reasonable. It's not noticeable while scrolling down a pdf, but it is noticeable while browsing and clicking around, altough not to the point of being annoying. Cons: - The resolution is nowhere near that of a normal screen. Notice how large the font is on the demo video! With that fontsize, the quality is ok, but any text rendered at a normal 100% ratio is quite pixelized - Colors are quite basic. Don't expect subtle nuances to show. Enough for highlighted text or coding editor colors to be differentiated clearly I expect mine to be very useful for long reading, writing or coding sessions on a static page. But for more dynamic work like emails, browsing or when the mouse is used frequently, I may stick to my faster and finer conventional screen.

@@arcticape445 As far as eye issues are concerned, it does the job. No more soreness from the screen. Gone. Like reading on paper. However, be ready to adjust the lights in the room. I don't want a bright light source behind that will reflect on the monitor, or a bright light in my 180 vision that will contrast with the soft monitor.

@@brendan12882 Reading: I need to zoom in quite a bit to have a decent reading quality, so I don't feel like I'm benefitting from the large screen. I prefer to read on a separate tablet (Boox Note Air 3, B&W). Coding: If I set my editor's colors carefully, I can distinguish them clearly on the monitor. I find the monitor helpful for long coding sessions. I bought a deeper desk for the monitor to be farther away so I can zoom in to have a decent quality and not have to look at an upward angle too much when I use it vertically. My use: At the end of the day, I use the screen for coding and reading associated static material. It's not great but it does work and I don't know of a good alternative. Yet! I bet in a few years we'll have plenty of options to choose from.

I have been thinking about buying one, to read and sometimes code, but also for (day) trading. And for this last use, I was thinking that with graphs and numbers moving super fast, the tape with different colors and everything, the ghosting might kill my account, haha. And even more now that I read that the resolution is, as I thought while watching this video, with big big fonts, not that good... I guess I'll have to wait a few more months or years. On the next product, please do something like the JSAUX FlipGo with Color Eink screen. I want it to be portable and Eink screen is really needed to have a big size to mitigate the low resolution. If we can have a portable 16"x2 screen (23" when combined) with color Eink , that's the real game changer for me.

honestly: if you could sell this monitor, 19" - 27" size, for ~ $199 (for the smallest size) - you would have a *HUGE market.* developers, content creators, tech writers, authors, SEO/ internet marketers - everyone who sits in front of the PC 8-9 hours a day, would love to have such a monitor (as 2nd screen). Hope you realize this in near future. Regards

Its a shame how expensive it is right now, I hope they can develop this further and reduce costs significantly. I'd buy one of these if they ever reach 400ish euros, but right now, I and, I guess, a LOT of people, can't afford to pay 1600$ for a monior.

Looks like 15 Hz, still a bit slow for me at the moment, but PLEASE continue to improve it, if it can reach higher frequencies like 30 Hz or 60 Hz with trails (it's okay) then I might seriously consider one for programming!

Yes, the frontlight can be totally turned off and the brightness is also adjustable

Could you please show how writing and editing a document looks like? And not a demo document like the one shown in this video, where the document was zoom in like 400% or something. I want to see a not zoom in document. I want to see how sharp are fonts rendered on this screen. I am very interested to buy one of these monitors, but I found out that black and white version you have does not render fonts very sharp, and this is the only reason that stops me for buying one.

The demo was zoomed in for a reason... Expect a lower resolution. Then, lower your expectations again. I just got mine. I'm writing this comment at a 175% zoom. Below that, I'm annoyed by the pixelized text. I still enjoy the monitor for long reading, writing or coding sessions on a relatively static screen.

I'd like to see it in dark and light mode in both dark and light rooms. I have vision issues that requires me to read things with dark backgrounds and white font. What does it looks like on this monitor?

Perhaps with this screen you would be able to read with a white background just like you (presumably) do with books. To answer your question, white on black works fine for me if the fontsize is big enough. You would need to refresh the screen more often, though, to remove the accumulated latency (there's a button on the screen for that).

@@sbarmiueenl That's good to know, and perhaps you're right. I forget with how incredibly light sensitive I am that not all light necessarily hurts my eyes, just most. I wish I could rent one to try it out for awhile before purchasing.

If you care about the color resolution, then it's not good enough for you. When I put a color scale on this screen with 8 shades of red, I can distinguish 4. It displays the main basic colors, but don't expect subtle nuances to show.

If you want to buy Dasung products, know that there will be no support. If there are problems, they do not answer or try to help, never, anywhere, in any way. The monitor may break in a year or a day, and you just have to throw it away.

I just got mine too. Do not buy. No joke. To have a clean display, you have to use big fonts. What's more the display is FAR more darker than in the video (I have the model without backlight). Colors are diplayed with dithering... the result if you are at less than 2 meters of the monitor is messy.

@@lemon9.9 Just to be sure, I'm taking this info from my computer's display parameters. The only option for the Paperlike display is 40 Hz. May not mean that the screen actually refreshes at that rate.

The e-ink screen panel looks great, but the thick bezel, fat buttons and basic stand it looks like something that came out of the nineties, its ugly. However, with that colour e-ink screen I'd buy one tomorrow if could justify the expense, hopefully, one day soon they'll mass produce these screens and bring the cost down to something more reasonable.

This version is plug and play. I'm using it right now with Kubuntu 22.04 on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 9th gen, and all the adjustment are made directly from the buttons on the screen.

@@shaowlnkngfu3803 The question is relevant. On a previous version of the Paperlike monitor, a software was needed to manage parameters such as frontlight luminosity, contrast and brightness. The Linux version existed, but was very buggy.

But there is no such situation here. A woman without make-up or nail polish introducing a monitor with a warm smile. She didn't even pay full attention to her hair. Onyx boox diye eink tablet üreten firmadan 2 adet tablet almıştım. Hatta benim aldığım yıl Türkiyede dağıtım için mağazası dahi açılmamıştı. --Şimdi Ankara ve İstanbulda var.-- Gümrükte bayağı beklemişti cihazlar. 45 günde bana teslim oldu. Monitör de aynıdır hocam sorun olmaz. Ama şu anlık tavsiye etmem. Yenileme hızının biraz daha artması lazım ve 150dpi oldukça az. 300 üstüne çıksın 2 sene daha bekleyelim@@burakgunduz9883
