Another episode in one of the last seasons in TNG, he was posessed by 500 or might even been 5000 different people and had to play a wide variarity of different characters. Don't remember the name of the episode, but it was about they found an old satelite thingy that started to corrupt the entreprice computer to summon their god. It was something about the sun and the moon constantly chasing each other in the sky.

@@starfleetcaptain5413I actually hated that episode. It was just too weird and all over the place, but the acting was great. Poor Brent Spiner--he commented that he had just come out of an 18-hour shoot doing several Data-oriented episodes and expected a break, only to be given the "Masks" episode. He actually told the producers, "I can't do this," because he was so exhausted, and their response: "We know you'll make it work somehow." Well, he did. :)

Data begging for help just shattered my heart into a million pieces. I agree with Geordie and Picard; I can't stand to lose him again either. Lore... the one that struck an alliance with the crystalline entity. I always hated him, which means Spiner did a FANTASTIC job at portraying that character.

You know, I'm noticing a pattern here. The way Data transitions into Lore mid-sentence without missing a beat seems to suggest that Lore, being in the same mind as Data, is seen as Data's dark half. The notion that the two personalities could combine would make Data more completely human indeed. That may end up happening.

Brent Spiner, should be given a special award for his work in all of his Star Trek work, He is no doubt one of the greatest actors of our time! To portray two personalities in one body that is an another personification in its own, is an extreme amount of talented acting that few people could ever accomplish! Several times in the original Next Generation series, I was convinced that there was an actual Android acting in the role of " Data" ; even in this scene,it is hard to realize that Brent Spiner is an actual human actor & not an Android.

"Whether they are aware of it or not, those white men who wrote the show had an unconscious bias that was on display to me and to other people of color,” Burton said to Rolling Stone associate editor Angie Martoccio during an interview published on November 26th. “Their blind spot is revealed in the fact that a Black man never was successful at one of the basic and most … My wife says, ‘There’s a lid for every pot.’ It’s true. The idea that Geordi never found a lid for his pot is ludicrous. It’s preposterous, and it’s insulting.” Did any of you actually read the article? And IF you did, your knee jerk reaction aka butt heart response is omg he hates white ppl?!!! It's funny how White ppl get offended when they learn some Black people in this world, with baggage the country dumped on the use throughout the history of our kind being brought here, and the continued bigotry we deal with whether overt or subtle based on assumptions of what Black people are like, etc. Many of you get soooo butt hurt when we voice our issues and or own built up animosity. It's not a one on one kind of thing, It's as a whole from the laws passed to how assumptions of Black people effects the thinking of the white and other cultures around the world perceive us but he and those who may feel that way are in the wrong and is a disappointment to you??? The arrogance!! You do know not long ago the American Medical books had it where if a Black woman comp!aims of symptoms in her belly or below it was always sexual because well we Black women and are highly sexual and promiscuous. Look it up sometime. I remember going to the Dr as a woman in my 20s, still a virgin and the Dr examining me and had the nerve to say to me, well your hymen is still in take. I'm 60 this yr and I still remember that. The ASSUMPTION was clear. My word wasn't valued therefore not to be believed. The changes to medical books happened BUT the seeds are planted based on bigotry. But we must be the bigger people at all times least to offend your white sensibilities. Spare me! Get out of your butt hurt and understand why he is saying what he is saying and where it is coming from. Again, it's not a personal attack!! It's addressing a bigger issue and how that can be a major mindfuk! And in the 21st Century we are still tiptoe-around it because of your hurt feelings and wanting to put a pretty bow around the history of this country and it's spread of bigotry to the rest of the world. Smh Again spare me your sensibilities. Life isn't all rainbows and lollipops. There are generational messes, many of us have to deal with and appeasing others butt hurt keeps it buried and not dealing with it is worse.

Lore never wanted to eliminate Data. In almost every episode he wanted to be understood by his brother. He wanted his brother by his side! Even in Descent part 2…his Borg are being defeated and he attempts to flee and Data follows. He offers Data a chance to come WITH him! He’s a bully for sure, but he always wanted Data with him, to show him the “folly” of the humans.

I get a drink and he walks in the back door. Looked like he was well lubed already (this was like 11AM). Very friendly with the bartender. He sits down with me and orders me a drink. He is crazy. I mean that in a nice way. I did not stay long. He talked, but did not say much. More like quotes from Shakespeare. He was very happy. I had to get back to my place. 2011

Lore will take the bait! He's always considered himself superior, so we must trick him into helping. Picard: "Data, Lore. We only ask because we are too stupid. Surely, this is simple for you?" Lore/Data: "Out of my way, old man! Let me show you how it is done!" Lore/Data solve the 'problem': Lore was terrified of being erased, Data made sure his friend would have a forever home. Now at Peace, Data and Lore fuse to become a human name 'Bob'. Catch in Bob in 10 Forward for his nightly stand-up routine. I hear he does really great impressions....

I just hope that Lal gets re-animated in genderless form and starts up a relationship with an Android version of Tuvix, and they adopt an abandoned Borg child drone who suffers from Irumodic Syndrome.

Data would never beg. I think that was Lore and he knows Jordie can give him full control of the body. Lore is tricky like that. Hopefully Jordie doesn't mess up.

It seems like the best option would be to write a constitution for Data/Lor's internal continual argument. Before taking action, they would be forced to abide by a set of rules decided on by both parties. Inevitably, the Lor side would use his skills to deceive. The Data side would use his skills to play with certain conclusions. In order to defeat the Lor side, the Data side would employ the art that he learned through playing Strategema against Korlami, aiming for a draw. The Lor side would know this and use his abilities to attack based on the knowledge of that aim, but by assigning a subordinate role, all Lor initiatives would have to be passed through a "congress" of sorts before acted upon. To enact this Data would emulate the ancient art of meditation, taking in the various perspectives within him until firm decisions were reached. It's an imperfect solution, but it saves Data from death by compromise as well as grants him a passageway towards human-like thought processes. What will be lost in speed would be more than made ip for in humanity. I probably should watch this show.

I hope they don't kill Lore.....though they probably will. I always thought it was really cool that Lore was one of the few villains that never actually died in TNG (just incapacitated). I kind of wish Picard didn't say "Can't we just delete Lore?" what was the point of Datas trial in 'measure of a man' and the results of that trial if they just decide to execute Lore without due process?

Well, I'm not sure if you should be happy or disappointed, because they TECHNICALLY didn't kill Lore... he just became a part of Data, and you can see shades of him in Data's new personality.

@@giftheck Haha yeah. Was it the real lore though, or just a 'duplication' of sorts (kind of like how the original Data exploded in Nemesis). Lores original body still likely exists somewhere in storage, and potentially his original mind is still in it, surely.

I wish this Data had been resurrected through a greater deal of thought. Like if B4 and Lore had been used purely as the Daystrom dual computer and it was only the hacking code that enabled their personalities to show through. Riker and crew want to download the info but it is too much to store in either B4 or Lore so they use the unused Soong Golem to store them both, leading to the Data we see here. Putting all those personalities into a single mind for the purpose of creating a new life form seems... hinky.

Why so he can threaten to best up more mom's? When he was told he has white blood in his veins he actually threatened the man who told him! Look it up Lavar Burton finds out he's mix raced. The (ironically) black gentleman simply chuckled at him and said it's true. Lost any respect for that racebaiting fool after that. 😢

This suggests that Picard was never actually sick. If his body is healthy, but has something extra, then he may have been the reason Q visited the enterprise in the first place. I know this is a jump, but perhaps he's similar to sisko.....
