Finally part 2 of the Date Palm project. Next update video in 2025! see you then ;)
"Phoenix dactylifera, commonly known as date palm, is a flowering plant species in the palm family, Arecaceae, cultivated for its edible sweet fruit called dates. The species is widely cultivated across northern Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia, and is naturalized in many tropical and subtropical regions worldwide" "for special occasions and religious times such as Ramadan. When Muslims break fast in the evening meal of Ramadan, it is traditional to eat a date first."

This is one of the reasons I cherish the palm trees in my country Bahrain ❤ 🌴 such a beautiful tree, very dignified, takes its time to grow, and once it finally does, every single part of it becomes useful to humans and animals. We make many products from palm trees in the middle east.

It is said that the person who plants a date tree will never eat the date fruit he has planted, because it takes a long time for the tree to bear fruit, and the person who breeds the plant will probably die before the plant bears fruit, which is why dates are so expensive.

Once upon a time a man was walking on the road as he saw an old man planting date palms. He came closer to the elderly and said: -My good man, why are you planting date palms? They take several years to give fruits and at your age you won't be alive to taste their fruits. So the old man stood up, look him in the eyes and said: -Take care of your own business and leave me alone.

Date palms can take 4 to 8 years after planting before they will bear fruit, and start producing viable yields for commercial harvest between 7 and 10 years. The date palm is dioecious, having separate male and female plants. They can be easily grown from seed, but only 50% of seedlings will be female and hence fruit-bearing, and dates from seedling plants are often smaller and of poorer quality. Most commercial plantations thus use cuttings of heavily cropping cultivars. Plants grown from cuttings will fruit 2-3 years earlier than seedling plants.
