I am gay and I am so done with the dating thing, I don’t live in Atlanta. I am at the point where I don’t want a man or woman, I am just going to focus on myself, attempt to go back to school.

As an older woman, I can say that the situations you described have always existed, sadly.

I stopped dating about 3 years ago and been focusing on myself and I don’t have interest to start dating again at least for right now.

The sad part is a lot of people find it hard to be themselves because they don’t really know who they are 🤷‍♀️. On top of that, they don’t really have the desire to find themselves or develop themselves because they tend to find it easier to just fit into a societal mold (flashing the money, cars, jewelry etc.). There’s no desire for a deep or genuine connection anymore. And that in itself is absolutely terrifying 🤦‍♀️

I found my partner in college, he’s from here. He’s very supportive and cares for me a lot. I moved to Atlanta for work after college. We briefly broke up and I went on dates with other ppl. First dude was a neurodivergent yt dude at Emory. Second was a “model” who claimed to work with celebrities and grew up in different countries. Did some snooping and couldn’t find any work info on him (the latter was true, I found info on his mother’s work around the world), so I refused to go on a second date bc why lie like that? Third one was okay, I dated him for a month-ish, he had his own place and a good job, but it just didn’t work out. He’s not from here either and was a different from the typical Black dude (for one, biracial. For two, Jewish. For three, liberal arts college education). So there’s some decent dudes out there, you just have to find ppl with similar backgrounds. I refuse to participate in nightlife, so I know I wouldn’t like anyone who does. I work in tech but love non-tech hobbies, so if I were to have to date again, I’d just participate in those hobbies and hope someone’s interested in me (but I’m also not too afraid of making the first move). Thankfully I got back with my ex, what a whirlwind experience 😅

I keep coming across videos about how horrible dating is in Atlanta, the men are saying it's the women that are bad and the women are saying it's the men. At this point, I just think everybody is bad to date in there. 😂

Woo chile.... I think in every city this is what dating is like and black men are so scarce..they take it to another level. I am no longer selective to black only. That said... non-black men are still the same type of trash. I'm not here for it. Men literally are not worth my time like that. After my abusive former husband, I have been single for 9 years and 6 months. I have zero plans to change my status from that. Technically I'm a solo polyamorous swinger. I don't want a relationship..In fact I don't even think I can handle the stress of a relationship anymore. I go to a swingers club 3 times a month for around 7 each time and that's enough socializing and intimacy for me. I'm 42, child-free and I no longer want to build anything with a man. Most men just want to destroy or do not have the skill set to build anymore. I'm just happy to die alone in the nursing home with a puppy. Men are not worth it anymore for me. As for black men...there's a reason why there are no black male sperm donors in white-majority countries........I would suggest you freeze your eggs now if you have the money and want kids. Waiting for a decent man to come along is going to take a lot longer now for Millenials and Gen Z.

It comes down to self preservation, selfishness, keeping up with the Joneses and worldliness. Unfortunately, the things you stated are a problem globally and has been going on for decades. It's not just your generation.

On my visit to Atlanta, I saw too much. In my opinion Atlanta is a very beautiful place, but it is a dangerous place. November is hobosexual season. They are looking for a feathered nest to get out of the cold. Don’t let them know where you live and no they can’t visit and no I can’t cook. There were too many dudes aggressively on the hunt, gay and straight, beware, they will follow you. Some had fourth grade conversation, prison vocabulary, pimp mentality and obvious signs of being unemployed and homeless.
