Hey guys! Made yet another video. This time it is on my daily driver, my 1982 Datsun 200sx S-chassis s110. I really wanted to do a review on this car because I do not see many videos of them around nor do I see these cars riding around anymore. Car has been good to me this past few months thankfully. Sorry the video is long but I really wanted to go in depth with this car. I appreciate everyone of you guys that watch my videos and I will make more as time goes on. Thanks!

I had a 1982 200sx hatchback SE as my first car. The same color as yours, loved it. Never had any mechanical issues but totaled at about 110k miles. Still wish I had it now. My had power windows, and voice warning.

I has a 5 speed manual. Learned to double clutch in it. Great in the snow. Better than some front drive cars the 4 cylinder had 8 spark plugs. Once you fix steering, tightening up the front suspension helps handling alot.

That is so cool to hear! And yes surprisingly it was very good in the snow for me even with all season tires on it. And yeah I never got around to fixing the bushings on the steering but I bet it feels good once fixed!

I had a silver 83 5 speed in the mid 90s right out of high school. It wasn't fast at all (11.90s 1/8 mile) but I had as much fun in this car as any one I've ever owned. And these things are tough, they will take all the beating you can throw at it and then some!

Actually I think the NAPS cylinder head was introduced in the S110 and pickups in 1980. Of course, in this platform it had EFI which didnt happen in the pickups till 1986. This engine wasnt much for horsepower but it was very torquey and ran forever. I knew a mechanic who had one that ran over 400k miles never had a mechanical problem. He had to swap bodies once and when the 2nd body rotted out he junked it. Ive never seen one with crank windows. It has power brakes BTW.

The 1980 720 pickups had the L20b for one year. In 1981 the Naps-z was used.

I had an '82 back in the day and the cassette player was separate from the radio (yours isn't like the upgraded one I guess) and fit where the cubby hole is right next to the radio. Interesting radio in that it had a graduated volume knob (indents) and a small EQ. I also had Mikuni carbs in place of the FI and no cat ... ;-)

Hmm that is very interesting how my cassette player is like that lol, that is so cool to hear about your radio setup, didn't know they could be so different. Your car must have been moving with the mikuni carbs and no cat also it must have sounded sooooo good!!!

I had a 1981 200SX Liftback with normal mirrors (power) I did have to install the passenger mirror myself, but the wire harness was already there so I just needed to connect it. I did need to drill the hole. Looks like yours is set up for the passenger mirror also. (I see the plastic coverplate next to the original for the control to snap into)... It was Black w/ blue metal flake (I think they just called it "black/blue"). 5 spd manual. I got it with no radio because I installed a much nicer sound system for less than what the mark-up would have been with the factory stereo... It had 2 spark plugs in each cylinder (NAP-Z). I got around 38 mpg (hwy),,, Pegged the needle in 3rd (speedometer only went to 85mph). I also remember that in 2nd gear the RPM's would match the speed. eg: 3000 @ 30 mph, 4000 @ 40 mph etc.. Bought it brand new ($8500.00) in 1981 w/ 14 mi on the odometer.. It was a fun car, not real fast, but not bad for what it was... Seeing this just brought back memories... And I mean no disrespect, but those aftermarket mirrors clash, especially with the one factory mirror still on the car. Still a great find though. I love those older imports. Right now I have a 1989 Celica GT from Japan with only 180k miles for a second car. Runs/ looks great, and no plans of getting rid of it. I have people ask me all the time if I want to sell it. NOPE!...Thanks for the memories, this was nice. Take it easy...
@TheMaafiaGarage
@TheMaafiaGarage 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing your memory, and I did not know that there was a harness waiting there for a power mirror to be installed. Wish mine was a 5 spd but I loved the 3spd auto for what it had to offer haha. And yes the new owner said the same thing about the mirrors, he told me he would take them off which is fine with me because either or the car is beautiful. And you are welcome sir. Again thank you for sharing!

@@TheMaafiaGarage Yeah, they were great memories. It was my first brand new car. I was 20 and I spent so much time fixing that thing up. I bought almost every accessory you could get for them. I probably washed and waxed it 8 days a week. I was obsessed. It was so funny, every time my girlfriend would get in she would start looking around with this jealous look on her face (you know the one) to see what else I spent money on, like I spent more time and money on the car than with her. which was not true. (close. Nah!). I had some nice pictures (of course) that just got lost in moves over the years... No ones & zeros back then, so when lost, there was no getting them back. The things we take for granted. Oh well, live and learn I guess. Anyway, thanks again for the reply and enjoy that 200SX...

The Maafia Garage I broke a stud off the rear when is was putting on new wheels. And so I went to replace the stud, and I was trying to take of the dust cap that covers the back of the rotor, but I cant figure out how to get the hub off, the manual I have says theres a clip pin that releases them. But I don't see that part, I'm not sure how to describe it, but its just basically the hub that is holding the studs and the dust cap is behind that. And I cant get the stud out, without getting the dust cap out of the way.

So true. Even with older BMWs. Automatics tend to be babied more. Manuals are either to beat to hell, or super nice and way overpriced.
@TheMaafiaGarage
@TheMaafiaGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Yup I noticed that to! Especially with the e30s, e34s and e36s! All of them are more well kept than their manual counterparts which is nice but unfortunate at the same time. And right, the clean manuals are always over priced... But always keep a lookout because you'll find that one diamond in the rough where the owner doesn't know what the market value is lol
