I bought mine in 1980, I loved it, I had driven it for more than 250k miles over five years, I think I had changed oil three times only . Real reliable cars, I wish I did not sell it

My Dad bought one brand new in the summer of 1980 when I was 6. I remember him picking me up in this and it seemed so cutting edge back then with the digital message center and power antenna. His was red with the checkerboard interior.

It was my dad's favorite car for 20 years. He bought other cars in mean time but Datsun had remained his most favorite car ever.

truth be told, Datsun's are some of my absolute favorites of all the older designs

This was my very first car (1982), but same interior, minus the sun-roof. Wow, what memories. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the Flashback. With all due respect your voice at times sounds like Dan Akroyd from the Blues Brothers. Pretty cool man.

My Dad bought one of these in 1983. One of the things I remember fondly about the car are the audible warnings. A female voice with an English accents tells you the door is ajar, etc., etc.

Nice car! I bought a 200SX brand new in 1981 and owned it for 5 years. Took it to Germany and autobahn drove it for 3 of those years and brought it back in 1985 and traded it. It drove and handled well in Germany where it saw quite a few sustained high speed autobahn runs.😊

Still dream about my 1980 Powder Blue 200SX. It’s recurring, I park it in a big lot, come back later, and can’t find it. Just HAVING it to misplace is enough though. 🤔

Definitely a unique car, and I can see why you keep dreaming about it

Engine has 8 spark plugs ouch. Expensive tune up in those days great memories thanks.

The 1980 model year only did not yet have maintenance free batteries; you periodically had to add water. The WATER warning is because the sensor isn't detecting a high enough water level since it is no longer attached to a battery.

I had a blue and grey hatchback that I drove over 200,000 miles. A wonderful, bulletproof car.

Not an alternator light. It is due to the original battery was replaced. It had one wire connected to a single cell. Now That is a loose wire close to battery.

I have that Quincy Jones cassette! That's the one that contains "Just Once" and "One Hundred Ways," both performed by James Ingram (RIP). Jones, who was married to Peggy Lipton (of "Mod Squad" fame), turns 90 this year! _(2/25/2023)_

It’s a shame you didn’t get out and show the exterior of the car.

I have over 100 photos in the auction ad on being a trailer, but yeah, I wish I’d taken more video because it was so stellar

@@dadmodewheeliegang I owned an 81 hatchback and an 83 notchback. The hatchback had 400,000 miles at the end and still ran well.

Loved that car, lucky it didn't kill me, too much car for an 18 yr old back in the day.

That's about as close to perfect as they get! You used (may still can) get a distributor cap and plug kit that makes all 8 plugs fire on compression stroke. About 50 bucks for 25 horses. Don't ever sell it, unless it's to me!
@dadmodewheeliegang3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t know about that distributor cap, that would have been great! Dual Fire :)
