Just heard Dave Alvin today on XM radio & now found his videos on KZfaq. Lovin' it all! Just what I need to make it through 2 more weeks of teaching middle schoolers!!!

Hard to imagine these guys don't get more views and comments than they do. Fantastic rhythm and moves, utterly authentic persona,.. some of the best blues-rock mixed guitar I have ever encountered. Yes, they're getting on -- but check out their blues-rock-rockabilly history sometime: rare legends they are.

This is basically the reconstituted Blasters. That was one of the great 80’s rockabilly blues bands from LA. They made many a party for me in the day. So good to hear them again!

Good but could have been great set. They should always include their version of Johnny Ace Is Dead. WHY the big let down after Marie at the end. Their closing was awful. After Marie (the usual great), introduce the band then maybe go into their full version of "I got a Line on You' as a closer. This is where the Alvins lose me. All that talent but the smarts sometimes is a question mark. They seem to get too comfortable. Give the audience a knock out SMART performance EVERY SINGLE MINUTE. The shame is they can do it.PS - Lisa Pankraft is a great drummer.

Quit your whining Karen First off, this was an all day festival, so they were on early in the lineup. Which means, they only have about 45 minutes, to an hour. In this case, 45 Next, they were on tour promoting the album they had just released, the tribute to Big Bill Broonzy (I forget the name of the album) So, they are out touring, this isn't Dave Alvin and The Guilty Ones, Dave's usual gig This is Dave and Phil, so they are going to feature, mostly, songs off the album they just released. This isn't a Dave Alvin thing, so they arnt going to do Johnny Ace, especially in a 45 minute set Again, they only had 45 minutes Most of the set is going to feature songs from the just released album. And, since it's Dave and Phil, they have to do Marie Marie. Doesn't leave much time for anything else. As for closing, Dave chose to do it this way It's upbeat, it's a Blasters song, and it rocks, so it closes the show with a bang Sometimes they would throw in a few verses, most times not, like here Again, you say "their version" of Johnny Ace That's not a Blasters song That's a Dave Alvin song, he does with the Guity ones On THIS tour, it's billed as Dave and Phil, NOT The Guilty Ones. And backed up, by the Guilty Ones, as their backing band Understand the context of what your watching before before ripping them
