Loved this beautiful song back in the day, still do. The only song I remember that was totally different than their others. The others had a driving loud sound tho I dug all their songs.

Born in 1958, in Massachusetts USA, and so we had this album and the first two or three Beatles albums in the house; I always like these guys even though I was bored by them as a kid. That had a local competitive thing with The Beatles, as the Liverpool group had what was called that Mersey Beat, and the Dave Clark Five were from Tottenham, and theirs was called The Tottenham Sound. The had their own fans who'd show up at their local clubs to cheer them on, and when The Beatles came to the USA for a television appearance(which I had to watch then on a black and white TV), they took over everything in music. The Dave Clark Five soon came and performed in the USA, but The Beatles had the big juice and never looked back. You're a beautiful couple. Enjoy it all

I'm also from Massachusetts. The Dave Clark Five were big at one point in the mid 60's. At the age of 12 in 1964, I clearly remember holding a copy of one of those teen pop music magazines. The cover had a photo of both the Beatles and the DC5 and the headline question asked who would become the more famous band. I wonder how that turned out? I always did like the Dave Clark Five and this was my favorite song by them. BTW....I had about 25 classmates in the 7th grade at my Catholic school that same year. One of the dozen or so boys in the class was named Dave Clark. What were the odds??? Plus, my grandparents rented a small apartment in the house in which my classmate Dave and his family lived.

Those days were more innocent and wholesome. So many things that are common honestly didn't exist to us. The music reflects how our world was back then.

Love this British rock band from the 60's. So many great songs "Over & Over", "Everybody Get Together", "I Knew It All the Time"; "Do You Love Me", "Bits & Pieces", "Stay", "Can't You See That She's Mine", "Any Way You Want It", "The Red Balloon", "Everybody Knows", "I Like It Like That", "Catch Us If You Can" etc.

I was 10 years old in 1964 when I got a hand held transistor radio for my birthday. It played only the AM frequency and I could get only a few radio stations at different times of the day. One radio station played "pop music" like top-40 hit records from bands like Dave Clark 5, Beatles and many others. It's when I became a fan of the DC5. I hope you do more DC5 reactions - they had a lot of hit songs.

Back then, everyone had to walk 40 miles, uphill both ways, and our hands, in acid rain, and hail, naked...just to get the mail. Look at Dave now, and you will see the toll it took. His eyebrows never stopped growing, as a sort of protective hedge. They were the Beatles strongest competition at one time. Music is the UK's greatest export. Used to be literature.

Things were not always peachy back then but we produced music that would create good feelings and help us to be kind and loving to one another and take care of each other. We didn't focus on the negativity - we were focused on creating a world where people could live together in loving and peace. There was magic in the air and we could all feel it. It was a wonderful time to be alive.

There was censorship in the music business back then. They (record companies) preferred a wholesome appearance, that was widely accepted, to increase sales potential. But most of the groups wanted to look nice and be well dressed. The Beatles had long hair but they also wore suits. ☮💜🎶

From the end of the Second World War the United States grew in confidence until the late 1960s. The positivity and up attitude is reflected in the music of the time.

The music of the day always reflects the culture of the day. When there was _minor_ political strife and little need for musicians and actors to get involved... this definitely was a better time to be alive. And it was slightly before my time too, but I heard my parents and older relatives talk about it and the music has always made me nostalgic about those days. The music always tells the story.

Okay. I took the chance. I was very young when all this music was happening and really loved most of it. I have not looked it back in a long long while as I've been trying to get updated on everything that's happened that I missed since I was an adult. I was an environment where I didn't really hear a lot of music like I did. Work work work :). Anyway, the thought of listening to this old music that you have been looking at did not grab me at all when I started seeing it go by and I would just pass it. But I love you too guys so much just hearing you and feeling like family in a way I decided to go ahead and give it a listen. I'm not through with it yet and enjoy hearing it but it still feels nice to sit back and just listening to something smoother and easier and a lot of the heavy stuff. I'm going to try out some more... And think of my way back machine. Maybe there was a lot going on back then but I think we just were oblivious and the way the media was then you only heard a little bit at a time and you were still out with people and doing things mostly. Now we get buried fast. not with just reality of what's happening but all sorts of lies and conspiracies. But let's not go there and think about the Dave Clark Five and the Beatles....just ... Because! :)

For the LONGEST time, DC5 didn't have any their music on any digital platform, including KZfaq. Dave Clark knew all the illegal downloading and pirating of music was making artists lose monies on their property. DC5 had SO MANY hits!

Mike Smith, lead singer and organ player doesn't get enough credit for his contribution to the DC5. That band would have been nothing without him. Here's Mike in 2003 singing "Because" solo...just shows what fame and fortune ultimately leave ya with... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZplimZaAqtSue4E.html

That was great. Mike is definitely one of the most underrated vocalists ever. And if Dave Clark had released the albums on CD, which everyone was clamoring for at the time, Mike might have seen some revenue. Sad that OTHER of his contemporaries had to step in and try to raise money for him. What happened to him was tragic.

Dave owned the publishing company so whenever a band member wrote a song he always added his name to it. This song however was written by Ron Ryan. His brother Mike was the original guitarist in the late 50's, early 60's. Ron also wrote the hits "Bits And Piece's" & "Any Way You Want It" as well as "B" sides and album tracks. Dave never gave him credit. Not nice. His smile fooled a lot of people. Bobby Graham played the drums on all the DC5 albums. He also played on studio tracks by The Kinks & Herman's Hermits and many others. Dave told Bobby to keep it simple so he could play them live.

During the British invasion I liked the DC 5 more than the Beatles but the Beatles kept evolving and I ended up liked the Beatles more.

Dave Clark was gorgeous but sadly, later in life he had elective cosmetic surgery, which so many celebs choose to do and IMO, it ruined his looks as it usually does. He should have chosen to age gracefully as I'm sure he would have still been handsome. Dave Clark was a smart businessman and made sure to keep the rights to all of The DC5 music, which was not usual in those days and it ended up making him a rich man.

I was born in 1951; 73 now. GLAD I was born when I was. . .BUT: to me, it was awful. Awful. Until the late 60's. Absolute conformity! No chance to be oneself, or even to have the concept of that without being marginalized, ridiculed, or worse. The massive unrest and upheaval was a blessing, albeit a difficult one. If you had an hour, I'd be happy to tell you. But I loved this song back then (I was 12, I think) as soon as I heard it.

YES, the world was a better place in the 50's and 60's at least in the USA it was. Even the sad songs sounded happy. We had the best music, the best cars, the best of everything and crime was nothing like it is today. We didn't have so many locked doors. There was less government intrusion in our lives. It felt free and fresh and life was exciting.
