i was one of the rarified few who both watched and recorded this special the one night it aired -- and this has always been the definitive version of this song for me. thank you for sharing this, it's been ages.

Thank you so much for uploading this! My mom probably still has this on VHS recorded from TV somewhere. I was either still an infant or a toddler when this aired, and it's been a family favorite since. This scene and performance will never cease to be both moving and heart breaking.

This would not work today especially for a family animated half hour speical. It can get extremely dark, grotesque, and sad at times. It would have a PG V rating

Sorry I mis typed it, not the cartoon without sounds, the recording of the song with out the wolf sighing and drinking the booze. If that makes sense. The opposite of what you wrote the soundtrack without the sound effects of the wolf

Yes, I was honored to record with Dave Frishberg and Rebecca Kilgore. We drove to Seattle and met Gary Larson during the recording session. That was amazing.

Showing a cartoon while hearing a sentimental song is counter productive. I like the cartoon on it's own. And the song on it's own but not together. NOPE !
