When I have to take rides to medical appointments and the driver asks me what I want to listen to, I always say Dave Gahan, or Depeche Mode. It always is amazes me how many people have never heard of either, and I make new fans. People are always blown away! It's 2021, who doesn't know of this talent?

Lord... I miss Depeche Mode so much. I wish I could travel back in time and live in the Black Celebration, Violator, Music For The Masses and SOFAD era. I was incredibly (musically) happy at that era. Together, M.L Gore, Dave Gahan and Alan Wilder could make the perfect songs ever.

Growing up in “country”, in Deep South , Louisiana , a town of about 5K people in the 80s, it’s a miracle that I ever heard of Depeche Mode. But my older brother imparted his love of music on me, and by the time I was a teenager , curious and exploring new music, alternative music, I listened to the radio constantly, MTV , stayed up late on Sunday’s for 120minutes and read every Rolling Stone front to back multiple times , each month as my step mother was a subscriber . Somehow I came across a mention. Of Depeche Mode and heard People are People. Instant obsession. . A local gas station sold bootleg copies of popular cassettes, and shuffling through them one afternoon on the way home from the family business, I saw catching up with Depeche Mode , and asked my step mom to buy it for me because I needed to bring a gift to a birthday party I was going to that night. While I was sure no one would recognize and likely not appreciate it, it was the coolest gift I could think of . The receipts t loved it , played it most of the night and DMs fan base in small town La. Began its exponential growth period. I became friend with the managers at the local record store and they kept me informed of any new releases. I collected their back catalog and each new release, discovered , Yaz, Erasure etc and even Kraftwerk, who were contemporary but arguably pioneers in electronic music that spawned Depeche Mode and other electronic bands off the 80s and beyond. I went to all of their tour dates in New Orleans and my obsessive love affair with DM burned and indelible tattoo on my soul forever. I got Martin Gore’s solo records, but at this point I’m in college out of state , and musical influences were coming at me in all directions , unfortunately my budget began to feel the crunch. Upon the release and success of violator album and tour, one of the greatest alternative rock albums of all time , I didn’t foresee how DM or any band could possibly do anything better. I wasn’t a big fan of any of their subsequent releases and didn’t purchase any more albums , thanks to streaming. I saw them one last time in Texas in the 90s, but not again or since. Without black celebration I am not sure how I would’ve coped with the emotions of my adolescence .My experience as a fan opened my heart and mind to concepts I might. Never have considered . They were a major contributor to the soundtrack of my teen years and beyond . Love Depeche Mode ❤

Голос то изменился . Послушайте 101 и более ранние произведения. Такой гений был! И в окружении безумно преданных и талантливых людей. Но это всё в прошлом. Просто объективный взгляд. Люблю DM. Но, как человек, проживший с ними всю жизнь, считаю себя вправе немного их покритиковать)))). После ухода Алана, группа поблекла. После наркотического периода Дейва - лучше промолчу. Уход из жизни Энди - неожиданная трагедия. В итоге остаётся один незыблемый колосс и талант- Мартин.спасибо

И то, как поет Дэйв сейчас - это новый уровень, хотя и до его прежних никому не допрыгнуть. А чтобы вам сделать неприятно, озвучу один простой факт - Ultra один весит не меньше всех предшествующих альбомов вместе взятых. По смыслу, по размаху и силе творческой мысли. По звучанию, мощи и точности аранжировок. А вы все жуете старую пластинку про аланов. Алан имел все возможности написать свои великие альбомы, а на выходе просто хорошие. Кто слышал про Recoil кроме единиц погруженных в тему? Никто. Выводы каждый сделает сам.

LOVE this song. Tomorrow will come all too soon. True. A part of being human is growing old. But if you are lucky enough to find the right person then tomorrow comes and they are still there. The stars in your sky. The reason why you feel alive. That's the enduring power of loving, and being loved. We humans need to learn to love more. Loving IS living .
